I would add to that we are the most litigious society in the world's history. With 4.4 percent of the world's population, we literally have 75 percent of the lawyers. You think this doesn't drive up the cost of medical care? My cousin is a pediatrician with a sterling record, and yet his malpractice insurance is around $150,000 per year. Add to that the cost of his office and staff. He has to make around $300,000 to break even.
Then there is the matter of insurance that is available in some states and not in others. I remember a few years ago, a very good Dental plan was advertised on TV. When I called to purchase it, I found that it was not available in my state. Drop the barriers and let the insurance companies compete across all state lines. I paid higher insurance because more affordable policies could not be sold in Georgia. This is ridiculous.

That is how Obama care did everyone...raised insurance premiums.

I made them sit down and see what they spend a month on cigarettes' and beer. Both smoke. Only he drinks. Over $300 a month. It's all about priorities. This family also gets their medical paid for by Medicaid because they are below some monetary level. Meanwhile I don't smoke. Workout five days a week. Drink in moderation and I pay my own expensive health insurance and subsidize people like them.

It's always been interesting to drive through 'poor' areas. You find beer bottles & cigarettes and packages strewn about with satellite dishes in the yards and expensive cars in the driveway.

Most common feature in a ghetto. Liquor store.

I grew up in a very Irish neighborhood in the Bronx. Hard to find a block without a bar or two and a liquor store. I know that appearing to defend the ghetto by this true comparison to where I grew up means to you, and people like you, that I am a Marxist Soros puppet bent on global domination. I am just an Irish Catholic New Yorker with a basic geography lesson.

So you didn't get the point at all. You are a loser and a punk. Just spout your stupid talking points, never really anything constructive too add. I don't even mind constructive criticism. You just can't help being an asshole.

I have no idea where you were going with this. I have no problem with neighborhood bars. Frequent quite a few. So your statement about your neighborhood was basically a deflection about what I was pointing out.

Okay. Let me add the broken beer bottles, trash, cigarette butts etc. to the picture of my neighborhood. Better? Understand? You made it a ghetto thing, an indictment of those in poor neighborhoods.

Not an indictment of the poor. Just the way it is. I've been in white ghettos by the way. Place was called the knob in Ohio. Also been in the second ward in a city in Ohio. All black. Same conditions. Same good people. The liquor store reference was to what type of business thrives in that neighborhood. The why, we would probably argue about. Many were poor there but many with pride. Poor doesn't mean you have to be dirty or have trash in your yard.

I agree that "Poor doesn't mean you have to be dirty or have trash in your yard" but that is definitely the picture you gave and why I objected.

You got that from, "Most common feature in the ghetto, liquor store?" I'll give you this. You have a vivid imagination.

Think about it, JFlorio. Your symbol of the ghetto is a liquor store. What does that say? Why not women caring for their children despite the conditions? Or the landlords who abandoned where they live? Or the cops that profile the youth? You see your symbol of the ghetto, a liquor store, as the superlative feature of the neighborhood?

You are way over thinking this. I referenced the liquor store because they are one of the constants business wise. Which is a shame.
