I find it ironic that Democrats & many Republicans are apoplectic because of possible influence by Russia in our election. We’ve been interfering in the elections of other countries since WWII and even overthrowing duly elected leaders when we didn’t like what they were doing.

We helped overthrow Jacobo Arbenz in Guatemala in 1954 under Republican Dwight Eisenhower and helped overthrow & murder Ngo Dinh Diem in Viet-Nam under Democrat John Kennedy. That destabilized the country & led to our 10 year war there.

Our undermining of Saddam Hussein, Hosni Mubarak and Muammar Kaddafi has led to the persecution of thousands of Christians and has been accomplished under Republican George W. Bush and Democrat Barack H. Obama. The litany of our interventions could go on for pages, many resulting in disasters.

So now, the #2 nuclear power may have been tried to influence an election in our country, the #1 nuclear power & we’re outraged? Somehow that doesn't compute.

Sure it does, cl; how else could "lefty" attempt to re-gain their power if they don't find something translucent to blame President Trump (R), {or ANY conservative} for??? "Nukes," and even ISIS, to "lefty," are not nearly as important as impeaching President Trump (R), - and, oh, climate change. That's where the power and money is, respectively. The selective and hypocritical "outrage" of "lefty," is certainly a sight to behold!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PRESIDENT "45" DONALD J. {BORN AGAIN} TRUMP (R); JUST LIKE THE WEATHER!!!

I wonder how many.people would prefer that Russia finance, train, weaponize, and provide ongoing support in terms of airstrikes etc. to people here to overthrow our government via bloody internal war, as our country has done in other nations so many times through the years?

There is no collusion between Russia and the Trump administration, and never was.
Just another lie from the whiners at "Progressive Club Losers"!

Saddam needed to be removed. He and his government were points of instability in the Middle East. And that the Saudis allowed Bush to do so, shows their realization of that. Had Bin Laden had his way, he would have taken mujahadeen to go after Saddam. And THAT would have set off the Middle East.

Not so the others.

Need I remind you of Ovomit's contribution---the main one---to the disaster in the Ukraine? He wanted the world to fear Russia, not the collective. So he attempted to make the world's people believe that it is Putin who is out to conquer the world. And he thought that would get Communism off the hook. It's never the fault of Communism and the collective. (In his mind.)

I certainly would not rely on the Saudis for anything. As far as taking the mujadeen to go after Saddam, that is one I've not heard of & seems far fetched. Suffice it to maintain that bin Laden hadn't done that in his years on the lam. It would surprise me. Saddam was in power for quite a while so I can't see how his government was unstable.

When will you people realize that this kind of stuff goes on all the time. It is nothing new. We do it to them and vice versa. Get over it, People!

That is the point, that our hands aren't clean but they should & can be. There was never a valid reason for us to be involved in the surreptitious overseas invovlement such as the CIA. It's reason for existing was untrue; we'd been 'surprise attacked' at Pearl Harbor and it might not have occurred if we'd had appropriate information gathering. It was about as suprising as the sun rising in the east.

A little publicized possibility about Allende is that, according to one spiked report, he was planning a Marxist takeover with the KGB. Also, Sy Hersh of The New York Times made a career exposing American subversion overseas but never found a CIA connection in the overthrow of Allende. I do not vouch for any truth to these things.

Since Russia became a democracy, what have they done which wasn't actually wanted by the local Russian nationals who were cut off from Russia when the USSR broke up??

Allende, irrespective of his beliefs, won an election the UN certified. I find it curious, though, that there were no CIA coups against right-wing dictators; Duvalier, Trujillo, Battista, Samoza Garcia, Franco, and a succession of despots in Guatemala, el Salvador and Panama.

Just about everyone, especially those who have lived under both, find life under right wing despots better than under left wing despots. Under right wing despots, there's food on the table. Progressives always find this curious because they are cut from the same cloth as communists.

And, oh yes, Allende won that election with about the same percentage that Hitler did. One man, one vote, once.

You're blowing smoke junior.
You know nothing about living anywhere but the US. Pinochet murdered tens of thousands of Chileans, similarly in Cuba, el Salvador, Nicaragua, Haiti, Columbia. So, no, right-wing despots are not better for their populace.
What does a comparison of electoral margins mean? The situations weren't even similar.
