The gale wasn't blowing when we left Port Lucaya, and it wasn't supposed to blow that hard. We sailed the damn boat over there for him, and I have no idea about how his plans had changed or for what reason; he flew back and insisted on his boat being delivered to Lake Worth. Maybe he didn't want to pay us for another day.
If you are trying to call me a liar, don't be such a mealy mouth.

Not at all. Why so touchy? I enjoy good challenge as much as the next guy. If some playboy wanted to pay me to shuttle a seaworthy vessel across the Gulf stream in a gale, I'd be just as happy to oblige. I just figured it's such a short trip that you knew the weather ahead of time and decided to go anyway, hence the 'bragging rights'. I crossed Drake Passage four times as a (much) younger man. Three times on the RRS John Biscoe and once on the RRS Bransfield. I was supernumerary on all four trips and was thoroughly seasick on three of them. It's bordering on the surreal when you wake up with your weight on your head, then on your feet, then on your head again, and so on. Nothing like a thirty foot swell to wake you up in the morning....

Apologies. I must be having my monthly visitor. Fact is the weather got there early, but we would have gone anyway. It's not like yacht delivery is so client rich you can turn stuff down. I was lucky, I was berthed midship, so I had it a little easier. Didn't get seasick. Only time I ever did was more of a hangover back when I was still a young party animal peckerhead.

Guys can be bitchy also. Especially when they are in a lot of pain because they injured their knee badly in a dumbass bike wreck.

Bicycle or motorcycle? I had a buddy almost lost his face going into the side of a van on a motorcycle. That was pretty nasty.

As a matter of fact, I did live on the beach. Or rather, about 150 yards from it. The last year I was in Florida I was mostly working in the Bahamas, or on a boat out of Ft Pierce. There was also a stint on a yacht delivery crew. If the work was not so spotty, it would have been a dream job. Getting paid to do something I did for free every chance I got.

That is a dream come true!! How long did you do them?? I think I'd still be doing that if I could.. I bet you were happy, healthy and loven life!! I envy you...

Tough conditions for sure!! Did you ever get your sea legs, as they say??

I got seasick just in 5 to 7 ft swells... deep sea fishing out pastt the 12 mile marker, 3 hrs wanting to just finish myself off!! I can't imagine what you went through!!

You may need believe this but when I got home and got in shower I got that same dizzy rocken feeling and had to get out!!

Strange tho, I never got seasick again..
