Liberals always favor raising the Minimum Wage, as if that solves anything. The problem with that idea is that, while it may make a difference for the minimum wage earners, the effect is only temporary, and employers who might otherwise be inclined to hire more workers will hire the fewest possible and demand higher productivity. It starts to make better sense to go to a cash labor bargain, where the worker gets the full rate offered, the government gets nothing, and no records are kept--a better deal for both the employer and employee.
