Actually, President Trump returned the salute to a foreign officer. It was awkward, but to not return the salute would have been an insult. Ignoring the salute could have put an end to further negotiations. As for obama's latte salute.... well, he probably just forgot he had it in his hands and when faced with the Marine saluting him.... well he did what he could....Many saw that as an insult to the Military in general, but to be honest there was no policy regarding saluting the guards until Regan and after that point, Presidents have made every attempt to return the salutes.....but, had obama not saluted it would have been an issue...salute with the cup was an issue..... A no win situation.

FYI,,, Obama line in the sand.. the demand was for Syria get rid of its chemical weapons.. the did so, or pledged to do so.. but it was to Ruassia they promised to turn them over to..

Just as Russia entered the fray.. So for several years they kept the pledge.. Then, In wh**ever circumstance, the chemicals were used again..

So Obama got what we demanded but clouded by the new circumstances..
