LADERA HEIGHTS, Calif (KABC) — A remarkable video has surfaced, capturing a harrowing incident in which a nude man was struck by a car on a busy Ladera Heights road. Reports suggest that the man ran out into traffic, seemingly in the midst of a mental-health crisis.
The footage reveals the individual leaping over a fence at his family’s residence and swiftly darting onto the street, narrowly evading one vehicle before tragically landing on the hood of another.
Gerardo Garcia, who happened to be on duty alongside a colleague delivering medical equipment, witnessed the entire scene unfold. “Me and my buddy were just like, ‘What? What’s going on? Are we being pranked?’ And he just ran across us, and a lady in a car just hits him,” Garcia recounted.
Surprisingly, the man gathered himself and rose to his feet following the collision. However, another video captures him back on the ground moments later, raising concerns about the possibility of being struck by a second vehicle. Promptly, law enforcement officers arrived on the scene, surrounding him for his safety.
Garcia added, “He did get up. He started walking toward some vehicles, and that’s when the police officers all arrived.”
This incident unfolded at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the intersection of Slauson Avenue and Edgemar Avenue in Ladera Heights.
