There has ALWAYS been right and left, but at most times we have been able to speak civilly. When we can't speak civilly, that is when there is a clear sign of trouble. Prior to Trump, most that I have EVER spoken to, left, right or center, they were able to accept facts, they were able to accept reality, with of course a few exceptions, since Trump, most that I have spoken to from the right, they refuse to accept facts, they refuse to accept reality. I don't even recall the term "rino" prior to Trump. All too many refuse to acknowledge anything not coming from the fringe RW media. There has ALWAYS been conspiracy theorists, but I don't EVER recall encountering so many as I am encountering recently. One could speculate that it is due to my not having been on sites such as this, that would be incorrect, this isn't my first site like this and it isn't restricted to just people I encounter on the internet either, it is endemic within the real world as well.
As for where the shifts in politics can be expected and to what extent, center would be just fine with me, I prefer the center. We all to some extent have a mix of conservative and liberal, at least one would hope, some are pulled to some extent to the right, some to the left, the more closely we stay to the center, the less drawn to the fringe we will be, the better we can deal with differing opinions we can expect to be and hopefully, the less we will be drawn into the shady world of CTs.

I agree. The emergence of identity politics. The fierce degradation of those who disagree with one another. The moral decay, the loss of civil discourse. I miss the times when we could agree to disagree. We all must strive to bring back the ability to treat one another with respect regardless of political belief.
