Seems like all anyone now cares about is looking good; too bad tfg didn’t look so good in Nov 2020 but rather than trying some messy, ugly, taboo thing like compromise or collaborate (b/c they require actual real work) throwing stones is much easier; you just bend down, pick one up and throw it with all your might. Don’t even think; you clearly don’t wanna overcomplicate the situation. Just react and hope your team wins, b/c winning is the only thing that matters and if all that’s left is a scorched earth, well too bad: at least I won.

I find the attitudes expressed on this site just simply appalling. If I didn’t know any better I’d swear the sky is falling but no: just some ignoramus using the 2-interchangeable parts the good lord gave each of us at birth: an opinion and an asshole.

What network do you enjoy the most or find most convincing?

I think all networks are only focused on one thing: maximizing $’s by shamelessly pandering to their most receptive market audience.
With that said I find CNN most convincing; their much larger international audience (at least I believe) seem to compel them to only propagate facts backed by valid evidence (albeit they certainly have a liberal bias). I know Fox fans will vehemently disagree but that’s what makes for a good horse race.

First of all, referring to President Joe Biden as ‘Brandon’ is highly disrespectful to the office as well as the man.
2nd, as a (former) lifelong Republican who just resigned from the party last year, at 64-years old I’m hardly a liberal or progressive based on any thinking person’s definition and eagerly supported (via contributions to the Lincoln Project) as well as v**ed for Biden b/c I felt the country desperately needed change and the prior administration either ignored or was just plain afraid to make the really hard decisions re: today’s most relevant topics, i.e.: taxes (we’re nearly $30-trillion in debt), Afghanistan (for how long and how much were we gonna continue to dump huge $’s and lives into a stalemate), C***d ** (thank the good Lord we now at least have v*****es albeit why these knuckleheads refuse to take them is just so baffling as well as infuriating).
Third, to answer Forkbassman’s well articulated very good question: of course Biden could’ve done some things better but with a quite sizable, very passionate minority of people desperate to see him fail I believe the obstacles being put in front of him are clearly not short-term handleable. If given time I expect much better but in the short run making certain our democracy work and truly governing via a fair and balanced majority in lieu of people desperately trying to rig the system would be extremely refreshing.
Last, albeit imperfect our e*******l system remains best in the world and as a society we must stop this utter nonsense and actually believe in something; otherwise all we’ll end up with is the utter chaos we saw at the Capital building on 1*6/21.

Excerpt from <https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/gun-deaths-by-country>
In contrast to the U.S. and Latin America, gun deaths are extremely rare in countries like Japan, the United Kingdom, Norway, and Australia. These countries have implemented incentives or passed legislation to decrease the number of firearms in circulation.

Here in "the land of the free and the home of the brave" too many guns remain available for criminals, nut jobs, reckless children, and gangbangers to access as many as they want...

It will be interesting to watch this prosecution move forward in the absence of any Michigan law making parents liable for the action of a 15 year old child. The Michigan State Houses considered this but dropped it a couple years ago.

I will reserve my assessment until all of the facts are public.

Agreed the involuntary manslaughter charges seem bold and risk being an over prosecution similar to the Rittenhouse trial. Perhaps convincing a jury of reckless endangerment would be more attainable since based on the actions, deeds and written text evidence even in the absence of any specific parental responsibility law tying the kid’s parents to these deaths doesn’t at all seem like a big stretch.

Are you the lawyer tasked with defending the Holland MI parents who were just indicted for involuntary manslaughter?

Have you looked at the FBI records on most used weapon in murders. It may surprise you.

How much of what’s been written in this thread does every contributor believe the Holland, MI parents who just lost their children last week want to hear? Only a couple of gang-infested wild-west style Central American “hot-spot” countries have a higher per capita gun death rate than the US, where as previously stated the civilian population owns more guns than the rest of the world combined. The 2nd amendment was written at a time when we just rid our shores of a foreign occupying army who specifically tried to prevent us from armed i**********n. Who are the foreigners now? From who do we as a society need protection? Perhaps it’s the gun makers who spread their vast wealth around via lobbyists?

Reducing the oversupply of guns is exactly the point! Albeit eliminating all murder is likely not possible limiting access to commonly used murder tools will DEFINITELY make us safer, thus why as a society we mandate seatbelt use and make illegal driving intoxicated, or too fast, or going the wrong way on highways. In a perfect world people would self-regulate/control their actions and behavior but we’re unfortunately far from perfect and must therefore regulate behavior some people are just plain incapable of controlling.

But, but that's DIFFERENT!
Please don't ask me how though, but it is to anti-gun nuts. I have seen, and presented, the same argument multiple times on OPP, and I have not yet seen a coherent answer from the left.

How about a legitimate answer from the middle? There are an overwhelming number of guns in the US available to most anyone who desires one regardless of legality meaning way too many, of course, end up in the hands of the wrong people (criminals, nut jobs, reckless children, etc.) The 2nd Amendment was never meant to put AR-15 style assault weapons into the hands of common folk yet advocates feel completely legitimate in compulsively ignoring the “well-regulated m*****a” part. The t***h is daunting: reduce the amount of supply. If you fear needing protection from our established/armed law enforcement and/or military resources then you should 1st deal with some deep, unresolved paranoia issues.

Not being Trump made Biden a great President starting day-1; he’s the 1st Republican I didn’t v**e for since Jimmy Carter and I remain extremely happy with my choice. Unfortunately the Republican Party has lost business people and suburbanites in being taken over by a combo of working class (uneducated) rural w****s + white supremists: of which group are you a part?

Unfortunately facts and evidence are only relevant if they support one’s pre-conceived conclusion; otherwise they’re just simply f**e news to be (quietly) exposed as actual t***h at the most opportune time. Trump’s playbook has become SOP for his syncopates as well as the shell formally known as the Republican Party: dodge, weave and distort whenever necessary, and keep repeating the lies (loudly) until people either start to believe or get worn down from the abuse. Either way, they win and that’s what’s important: fuck the t***h, righteousness or democracy.. they’re all severely overrated.

Your ilk only corrects mistakes when caught red-handed telling “non-t***hs” and all 13-military deaths under Biden’s Afghan watch can easily be classified as resulting from a terrorist attack directly set-up by the Trump administration’s severely flawed, unexecuted withdrawal strategy. It’s quite easy to re-write history when your message targets want to hear your BS; much harder when they actually fact check! Saying Trump never lies is like trying to say the sun won’t rise tomorrow morning: how many of his 20k+ lies told while in office have to do with his 2017 inauguration crowd, the C****av***s p******c (kids are immune; it’ll just disappear when the weather turns warmer; it’s no different than the flu; etc.) and the “big lie” about the 2020 e******n? Talk about a self-fulfilling prophesy: he mentioned e******n f***d over 200 times in the past 5-years, perhaps conditioning his fans to believe such drivel? Statements like “the e******n will only be fair if I win” only appeal to assholes as narcissistic as he is…

Just like every other “non-t***h” you Trump asshole propagate, what’s one more lie?? Perhaps you should check your facts, fool and then shut the hell up!

Anything to do with Trump and Afghanistan is a disaster. Despite phony claims of always being against the war (an excellent example of a Trump lie affecting US policy) he negotiated a deal w/the Taliban while excluding the existing gov’t (talk about underhandedly shifting the earth from beneath someone) and while still in office didn’t have the balls to actually execute: what a phony BS artist.
