Roy Moore has had a very controversial career over four decades. Not a whisper or peep of sexual misconduct until a month or so before an e******n he was winning when he wasn't supposed to do so. The DC Establishment poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into his opponent's campaign, trying to maintain the status quo of RINO dirtbags. They failed. Why didn't these accusations come out in the primary? Because Moore wasn't supposed to win the primary. When Moore was embroiled in all his legal problems about the Ten Commandments and gay marriage, not a word. NOT ONE WORD for FORTY YEARS.
One of his accusers has falsely accused at least three other men, all clergy from three different churches of the same thing. It also seems that she was of legal age when this alleged misconduct supposedly occurred, not jailbait.
Another of his accusers works for his opponent.
Another of his accusers is in possession of the only piece of what might be considered physical evidence and refuses to turn it over to forensics experts to determine it's authenticity.
No offense, but if you gave me enough money and a little time, as I have said before, I could find women or men willing to accuse anyone of anything. ESPECIALLY if it was timed so close to the event it was meant to influence that there was no time to determine the t***h or mendacity of the accusations.

The timing, though highly suspect, may not have to do with e******ns but the big breaking news about Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey. Under that cover or by impetus, Moore's accusers could have felt it safe or finally worth the risk to come forward. Pure conjecture but not out the realm of possibility.

Why victims of sexual assault, especially when victimized by celebrities, wait to report, if they choose to report at all?
Sexual assault can cause intense feelings of humiliation. Denial, shame and self-doubt are all typical psychological byproducts of being abused by someone you trusted. Victims often struggle with fears that other people will judge, blame and disbelieve them, and fear how gossip about what has been done to them can further inflict feelings of isolation, shame and humiliation. When the perpetrator is part of the victim’s social circle, or someone of upstanding reputation such as a celebrity, they also fear having others side with the abuser.

Victims sometimes need decades to even admit to themselves that what happened to them was abuse, let alone to muster the courage to file a report about what is perhaps the most traumatic physical and psychological betrayal that one can experience. Humiliation, shame and fear equal silence. When victims break that silence, they know they’ll face a new set of challenges, but it’s never too late to speak out.

Almost all of these k*****gs were the result of Government Officials not following existing law. Each incident was different. The guy in Texas had mental problems which were known, as were his crimes, and yet he bought firearms, I believe 3 different times. Actually the guy should not have been walking around free because he had a criminal record and had made verbal threats beforehand.

The Muslim terrorist in New York primarily used a truck. In Paris terrorists obtained automatic weapons and easily mowed down the unarmed victims. The Las Vegas shooter was a rich guy who took a lot of time getting his weapons and planning his crime. That guy would have been almost impossible to stop.

My contention is that bad guys will always get weapons and almost always they will go where they think no one else will have a gun. I know a lot of people who are now buying their first pistols and taking them to Church. The scariest place on Earth is a gun free zone. If you show up with a gun there, you are a God for at least 10 minutes. The safest place you can be is at a gun show. Somebody starts shooting there, how long before they are k**led ?

How many suicides are prevented every year by a restriction to a gun? 43%. (Figures taken from Native American populations and nationwide indigent rolls.) Gun laws make a difference.

I am not "anti-gunner." I am a sane and reasonable person who finds repeated massive deaths by firearms unacceptable. To make America a dystopian society of more and more and more guns everywhere, as per the NRA leadership, is brutish and sick. Doing nothing is aiding and abating gun violence. Consistent restrictions of firearms are essential to the common good.

In the Roy Moore affair, there will be no court trial. The statute of limitation has long run out on any statutory rape case. If he attempted statutory rape, he got away with it. The question then becomes, is it an issue in Alabama e******ns, if a candidate got away with attempted statutory rape?

Good point. But no due process to determine innocence or guilt, as the statue of limitation has expired.

May each and everyone of you enjoy this, my favorite holiday of all...Thanksgiving.

For me, at least, living in America is reason enough to be thankful. Enjoy Family (especially grandchildren), is an added bonus.

Almost every time I walk into a supermarket, I am in humble awe. Even a little guilt. Fresh, out-of-season produce spilling over the edges. Shelves with anything you can imagine filled to capacity. Gluttony but for the fact this is usual. We are used to abundance. We are America. Then I read what it is like in Haiti, the Sudan, and other countries. Starvation k**ls more people in this world then all the gun violence and disease. I pick up a ripe tomato, give it a little squeeze, and then put it in my basket--and a third of the world is envious. We do not know want. That is good, of course. And may it continue. Yet we need to take these things as gifts from God. Undeserved. Stridently grateful for our plenty. On our knees we live in this great nation.

Let the e******n in Alabama be on issues. Unbiased by accusation. We do not try and convict people in the court of Public Opinion: we have courts for that. Trump is facing the same type of accusations. Innocent until proven guilty. We all need to take a step back. This is America. My feeling is that both the Moore and Trump accusers are being honest. That does not matter. Our day in court matters. Until then innocence is presumed.

I agree, love one another is the greatest commandment. I think Luke 22:36, in context, is saying it's okay to defend the faith, others and ourselves... because you will be attacked... verbally and physically. Jesus sure defended His Father's house... which I believe is the main reason the temple priest and rabbis decided He had to be k**led... not the average Jew... but the religious leaders. Leaders of all stripes get scared when you mess with their power or money. I will turn the other cheek a few times, but after that, it's shock an awe, if I can deliver it...IMO...:)

I agree. What Jesus did at the Temple sealed his fate. He became a direct threat to the power structure In Israel--and he knew it! And he knew the probable consequences. Christians need the same boldness of conviction.

I am not very religious but your post makes me re-consider. Then I can ignore those posers of Christianity with all their h**e and secular posturing for their lack of love. Love is it! Without love, they are "a clanging cymbal." Without love for neighbor and enemy alike, "they have nothing...they are nothing." That somehow Christians find a way to still support Trump is fine. I do not know their motives. But if that support is distinguished by their love, what it means to be a Christian, I have no complaint or argument.

You appear to be a very decent person. I read all of your previous threads and posts. A good heart is my ultimate conclusion. Please stay and continue to contribute.

Ha, but thank you. I was not going to post this thread because I am far from the perfect Christian. It is just what my heart feels is true and not how I lived my life. There have been changes after reaching fifty yet I am not a good example of what my comments. I h**ed the Left and was very active in denouncing them at every opportunity. It seemed very clear to me that they were steadily eroding the moral fiber of this country and looking to make our great nation into an atheistic satellite of socialism. For twenty years I was a rabid purveyor of those opinions. One morning about a year ago, I woke up with the conviction that my approach was wrong, sinful. I could not wriggle out of it after hours spent defending myself. It came down to this: God is or is not in control. If God is, what is my focus? Love was the only answer. Love my neighbor, love my enemy--no matter what! Trust God to sort things out. It seemed then and now I can't go wrong with love. That is all that Jesus asked: love.

Thank you that was beautiful. I had an instructor once and this was a class on the book of revelation and he stated at the time that there are three main beliefs in the rapture and he had four. He said that the three main beliefs were the pre trib, the mid trib and the post trib beliefs. He said that he had a fourth view as well and that was the pan trib. Pre trib was the rapture was before the tribulation the mid trib was in the middle of the tribulation and the post trib was after the tribulation. Now the pan trib rapture was that everything will pan out in the end.

Momma, I want to ask one thing of you. You see, I too am a Christian. I was born and raised going to a little country church and eventually became a Deacon in this same church. Now after a long and sad story that I am willing to share, there has been a rift in which our pastor was v**ed out and in doing so, we went from an active church of about 65-75 each Sunday (its a very small community) to 17 people of which 11 are over 75 yrs old. Due to my deep seated disgust at what happened and how it happened I have quietly just stopped going. I go to my old pastors house frequently for teaching but it isn’t regular. What I have found is a connection with God in nature that I had been missing for awhile. What I am asking for is your prayers for me and my family that we might continue to look to Him through the foolishness that we visit upon ourselves. May God bless you and yours. Amen

"...the foolishness we visit on ourselves": that is a great insight. It comes in many varieties and shapes, always looking righteous, in my experience and errors. You have my prayers, of course, yet I think staying with your pastor might be the best for healing in the Holy Spirit. Let that and nothing else be your guide. In Romans 1:19-21 it says "...since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse." Seeing the magnificence and majesty and diversity and intelligence in all of creation brings glory to God.

Everybody knows, if you're white you're a recipient of 'white privilege'. You don't see it or even feel it, it's just there, helping you along in the journey called life. So how is your white privilege? Is it working out OK for you?

I was messing with Siri earlier, entertaining myself by asking really stupid questions and seeing how she responds. Anyway, I said something about 'white privilege' and she spits out "this quiz was made at MG, so it's not a professional quiz, so don't take the results to heart. This is just to give you an idea on how you perceive yourself and such". That tweaked my interest so I hit the link and found myself here:

Oh. My. God. I had no idea the world had fallen this far. So I took the quiz (of course I did), answering each question with the 'Never' option at the bottom. Interesting how I got the '100% Privileged' designation.

Yes... Very interesting. Next I took the quiz answering each question with the top option for each question. That designated me as being '0% Privileged'.

There was one question that I just had to laugh at:

"As a child how often were you given safety instructions on how to walk through a department store or public establishment in a way that did not foster suspicion or attract attention?" Consider that for a second. 'Safety instructions' ensuring that you 'did not foster suspicion or attract attention'. I could rephrase that to ask 'As a child, how often did your parents give you lessons on how to shoplift'?

Anyway, here's the scores:
Everybody knows, if you're white you're a recipien... (show quote)

Sorry, it is silly to think that White Privilege does not exist. It is visible everyday if one opens their eyes. Or reads the News. Or look at arrest and conviction records for almost any crime but especially marijuana. NYC profiled by race. Almost every city does the same, though in quiet. I was an acquaintance of a man in my town that defrauded three local businesses and wrote ten bad checks and got five years probation. A Black man in town wrote one bad check to cover the rent for his family and got a year. Ask any shoplifting team of surveillance in major department stores who they mostly track. Instructions on how a minority 'did not foster suspicion or attract attention' is essential, given the statistics of targeting such a group. You cannot possibly comprehend or should not even comment on what it means to be a minority in this country. That you do is the definition of White Privilege.
