You just reminded me of something. Although I’m not very religious, I was sent to a school as a child, which had classes in Christianity as well as comparative religious studies. There was a story in the Bible, of which you just reminded me.

Jesus preached against people (like Peter) who were holier than thou, judging the tax collector as being an impious man. I just found it,again.

The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector

9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’

13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
You just reminded me of something. Although I’m no... (show quote)

Outstanding Idea. I haven't gone on a walk around the block in about six years. That sounds like a good way to start walking again. I might just work my way up to two or three blocks at a time.

Oh, Big Dolly! You are “Quaker Widow” now? That threw me for a loop! What prompted the dramatic name change?

er, NO, I am not Big Dolly and I have been a QuakerWidow ever since my husband died in 2007.

Did those people have their t-shirts on with "Not Identifying as Christian" embossed on their attire??

No, but when asked they were Jewish, Islamic, atheist, even in one case a Sikh.

This guy is a pediatrician? Are you and the rumitoid aware that a lot of pediatricians recommend sending children back to school? Do you also realize their opinion has nothing to do with Trump? Or are you so far down your rabbit hole of h**e for Trump that you are unable to see that Quakerwidow/rumitoid?

And how many of those pediatricians recommending school reopenings live in rural areas where students will need to be bussed for up to an hour to get to school?

The only Christian group I know of would be the Salvation Army. They put on a big show of helping people when there's natural disasters and the possibility of news cameras around, but if you're homeless and have to go to one of their shelters, MAY GOD HELP YOU!! They run their shelters more like concentration camps, staff members show up on the job with alcohol on their breath and two of the staffwomen were always all over each other right in front of us "clients", as they called us! I wanted yell, "For crying out loud, get a room!", but I knew that I didn't dare to because I would've been kicked out if I did, yet lawfully wedded husband and wife "clients" couldn't so much as touch each other's hands while on Salvation Army property.
Then you have groups such as Red Cross, who showed up to pass out blankets and bottled water when our building caught fire about 5 1/2 years ago. So far as I know, Red Cross is made up of people of all faiths and no faiths, but when one of them draped a blanket over my shoulders and gave me a bottle of water, I didn't ask what faith he was. I was just glad to have that blanket and that bottle of water.
The only Christian group I know of would be the Sa... (show quote)

Check out any natural disaster and you will see Christian groups the first ones on the scene with help, but nary an atheist group.

Perhaps not atheist GROUPS, but I have found people who are definitely NOT identifying as "Christian" acting far more like Jesus than some who claim the label.

When did we see You a stranger and welcome You into our homes, or naked and clothe You? When did we ever see You sick or in prison and visit You? What a crying shame it is when an ATHEIST has to remind Christians what TRUE Christianity is all about! In fact, it's my own opinion that in the end times, Christians won't be persecuted because they're Christians, but because they didn't ACT like Christians when they had the chance.
