IOW, as you see it, the "ship of state" should be a ponderous and very costly cargo steamer captained by despots with a conscripted crew - a monster boat of the Marx & Hegel Red Star Line that depends entirely on a ballast of bureaucrats and petty tyrants to stay afloat. This leviathan, of course, bears no resemblance to the trim, sleek, cost efficient, and speedy yacht designed and built by Madison & Co, captained and crewed by free American citizens.

FYI: Throughout our history, all policy, foreign and domestic, stems from the White House and depends on the President's ideology. Congress is one of three equal branches of our American government, it has no power to "reign" over either of the other two. The fundamental concept is separation of powers.

Those of us who have studied the history of our American government know that, over many decades, the State Department evolved into a self-serving entity with an agenda of its own. State has often butted heads with the president in setting its own foreign policies. Over time, a culture of deeply embedded bureaucrats working in foreign environments were heavily influenced by the traditions and the demands of the country in which they worked. A kind of political Stockholm Syndrome developed in which the foreign officers experienced a psychological alliance with the host country.

There is, however, a stunning contrast between the agreeable diplomatic relations of State Department officers who have worked for years in nations friendly or allied with the United States and the departure from American interests by those who work in countries that are unfriendly, even hostile, to the US.

Five people were treated after the attack at the Santa Monica Pier.
A man wearing a “Make American Great Again” cap was arrested on Saturday after allegedly spraying bear repellant into a crowd of people protesting against President Donald Trump at the Santa Monica Pier in California.
NBC Los Angeles said five people were treated on-site, but no one was seriously injured at the pier, which is a popular tourist attraction featuring shops, restaurants and an amusement park.
A police officer identified as Sgt. D. Hicks told the Los Angeles Times the protesters were on the beach at first, but when they walked up onto the pier and encountered a group of Trump supporters, “everything went to crap.”
The footage was captured from several angles. One clip shows the suspect returning and appearing to spray again at someone who was already on the ground from the first dousing.
Bystanders brought the assailant to a police station, which was just steps away from the scene. KTLA identified him as 32-year-old David Nicholas Dempsey, who was booked on suspicion of illegal use of tear gas, assault with a caustic chemical and parole violations. The station said he was on parole from a weapons conviction.
Jail records from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department show Dempsey was being held without bail. He’s due in court on Tuesday.
Police are working to identify a second man ― described as older ― who also may have sprayed into the crowd, The Los Angeles Times reported.
In footage from the scene Dempsey can be heard telling police he was “attacked” by “libtards” and “f**g-burning c****es.” The crowd cheered as he was cuffed.

Hey, Mr. Economist, the reason we (America) lost jobs, was because of robots. They took a plant from North Carolina employing 5,000 people and replaced it with 500 people in China. Trump promised he would bring back manufacturing, and he WON'T. Only an i***t would believe that he would bring them back..

Yeah, he will upset things. He will destroy our relationships with our allies, and cave in to our enemies, and you think that is a good thing. I can assure you, it isn't.

I do agree with you that there is a strong military-industrial complex that needs to be dealt with, but I can assure you that Trump is not capable of dealing with it. If given the chance, he would cave to that. All they would do is offer him some money, under the table, of course, and he would send troops to Saudi Arabia to defend there bs democracy. The same country that k**led an American resident. He has no scruples.

If you want to actually uphold the values of America, uphold the constitution of the United States. If you do that, you will be ready to impeach Trump tomorrow. You will be ready to open our doors to immigrants who are ready to work for our businesses. We need workers who are ready to bust their butts for companies making the US stronger and better. That is what our country needs, not the bs Trump is trying to sell.

Our last four Presidents (Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Obama) went "along with the crowd" -- the Establishment Crowd. As a result, we bled middle-class jobs from manufacturing due to bad trade deals, and we set the entire Middle East on fire to satisfy the hawks in our Military Industrial Establishment. Deep state corruption spread throughout Washington DC. I personally do not want a President who would just "go along" with that crowd. America woke up and v**ed for a man who vowed to "not" go along with that crowd. Breaking the grip of the establishment on America is a painful process because they are so entrenched in all levels of government and the media. Trump has the balls to do it and I support him all the way. If you are a free thinker, why can't you see that?
