Thanks for posting that. I have parakeets and on occasion I let them breed. It is easy to remove an unwanted egg. If someone had an unwanted bird, I would take it in. My baby birds are allowed to keep the very large group cage happy and active.
That article made me think. I might just contact the local k**l shelter and let them know I could take in unwanted birds. I keep my birds not as pets, sitting on my shoulder and such, but as the flock birds they are and there singing. And company.

I'm for birth control. It freed women to partake in the joys and great feelings and satisfaction, etc. of satisfactorily enjoying sex without fear of pregnancy. But once conceived, the woman does nothing more then protect and feed that baby until birth and then hopefully a full teat right after and on and on. But there is no distinct point after conception where a fetus changes into a baby. They are one and the same at different levels of development. Period. An irrefutable concept.
As for a woman's right to decide what is best for her body, tell that to some soldier who was drafted and came home from war with PTSD, paralyzed legs and a missing arm and right eye. Sure, some join the military out of a sense of duty to country etc. But all through history men were drafted and forced into horrific battles facing certain death. Women were at the same time often drafted into carrying a child for nine months. There are choices available for both sexes now. An all volunteer military and with the availability of birth control, volunteer Motherhood.
If all women were on the best birth control their bodies can handle until they wanted to get pregnant, the incidence of unwanted babies would be very minimal. Have it and adopt it out. But I see no right to arbitrarily k**l it.
