Admittedly, I have not known many Canadians other than Snow Birds yet, other than Justin Pierre James Trudeau you win, hands down, for being the dumbest and most obnoxious Canadian I've ever experienced. There is something I'm not qualified to diagnose that is very sick about you. Here in the South where I've migrated they'd shake their head and say "that boy just ain't right."

And in Canada they say "how could anyone be so stupid as to v**e for Trump, Eh?

Does anybody really believe that there would have been a civil war if there had been no s***es? Of course it was about s***ery. And you're right, things change. Including the names of political parties. Republicans claim to be the party of Lincoln. If Lincoln was alive today he would be a democrat. He would be appalled by today's republican party.
Ok, the s***e owners were democrats. That's a fact. George Wallace was a democrat. Another fact. The s***e owners and Wallace were not liberals, they were right wingers.

Here's something I just ran across as I was looking for something else:
Whatta ya think, Trumpsters?

The former New York Observer editor has now claimed that Mr Kushner, the former publisher of the paper, informed her that Mr Trump did not believe the “birther” lies he was peddling.

“When I was the editor of the New York Observer, Kushner and I were going back and forth about how the paper should cover him,” Elizabeth Spiers wrote in a post on Twitter.

“I told Jared that I was particularly appalled by his father-in-law’s birtherism stance, which I viewed as cynical and r****t.

“He rolled his eyes and said ‘He doesn’t really believe it, Elizabeth. He just knows Republicans are stupid and they’ll buy it’”.

And you want to pay more taxes so the rich can pay less. Ok. I don't.

The bottom line is that with a flat tax the rich pay less, the middle class pays more. If that's what you want, go for it. You'll be the hero of Fifth Avenue.

[quote=American Vet]All the l*****ts cry that the rich are not paying 'their fair share' in taxes.

Exactly what is 'fair'?

And do you believe all Americans should be treated equally?

2 questions they never answer.[/quote

I'll tell you what is not fair. The Reagan, Bush and Trump tax cuts. All three threw the middle class a bone while the lion's share went to the millionaires. They gave just enough to the middle class to make them think they were getting a good deal and it worked like a charm. You can chalk up about half of our national debt to those three tax cuts.
The progressive tax rates were put in place to ease the tax burden on you and me. A flat income tax or a national sales tax, as many republicans support, would move the burden further down the income scale, putting most of the burden on the poor.

A republican form of government simply means that we elect a congress to represent us in government. The United States has always had a republican form of government but that is unrelated to the republican political party. Likewise Karl Marx did not represent the views of the democratic party. The quotes you posted are not relevant to your arguments.

And here are the two things our founders did not want anywhere near government .
Corporate Power
And

Their fears of these two were that power over time would be taken away from the People .
Right they were , as it turns out our two worst
Enemy’s of the power of the Propje are
Corporations ( citizens united )
And
Religion .
Butting heads with fools who now want to claim the nation as a Christian Entity. Not because they believe in Christianity, but because it suits their militant argument of supremacy . Of course you know Christian’s are the Chosen people. , right ?
It is not .
It never was was .
And if the Constitution can be upheld ,
Never will be.
Religion has no place in Govt.
Other than being protected as a personal choice.
Taking power from the people is not actually a choice of the people , it suits the needs of taking power from the propje favoring Corporate enterprise
Who believe everything in this country is a hindrance to their making any profit at all .
Corporate h**es religion .
And religion h**es corporate.
Two entities that should never be arguing with Govt representation.

Not so fast kitty. Blade was proving a point that you just admitted in the first part of your post to me. He was impressed with Jesus way he lived His life and thought to enshrine them in our constitution. Our faith is built on Jesus ways and thinking so was our country. This has nothing to do with the part where salvation thru repentance of sin is. So you are wrong America was founded on Christian PRINCIPLES.

You seem to have missed this part:
"Years later" he began studying the teachings of Jesus

None of this matters, however as the United States is what it is, and most of us on both sides view it as the greatest country in history. In my view the biggest threat to the nation and democracy is Donald Trump. Many of us have known of his corruptness for decades. Evidence is everywhere. Trump supporters either don't see it or don't believe it.

Not so fast Einstein. Jefferson was a Deist when he wrote the Declaration of Independence and when the colonies became an independent nation. Years later he began studying the teachings of Jesus. He was very impressed with the teachings of Jesus and the way he lived his life. I'm not sure of the definition of a Christian or whether the definition has changed over the centuries but Jefferson never believed in the resurrection. Nor do I.
Your friend Trump is neither religious or patriotic. He just loves Trump.

What they’re doing in the USA is not going to end well for them. We are a strong Christian nation

The United States is not and has never been a Christian nation. The author of the Declaration of Independence was not a Christian and neither were many of his co-founders.

Ironic that you would say that, being that JFK was the one that put us the closest to nuclear war.

That would be Nikita Kruschev who put us close to nuclear war. JFK saved us from nuclear destruction when he negotiated with Kruschev to remove them. You must have skipped that chapter. I shudder when I wonder what would have happened then had some knucklehead like Trump had been President.

No oil production on government land nowadays, thank you Joe. You should be thankful the private oil companies are still taking risks and making a profit. You should thank Capitalism for your good fortune because your sorrowful government won't be drilling. You should be b***hing at joe, not Trump.

Drilling on government land is not capitalism, it's corporate welfare. Why do you support your tax dollars going to oil companies? Joe Biden was President in 2022. In that year Exxon made a net profit of $6 million per hour. I think they'll be okay.
