Chinese tariffs on American Auto parts exported to China are well below 25% for example China places only 10% tariffs on engines and tariffs on other parts fluctuate but well under 10%. (CHINA HAS INDICATED THEY WILL RAISE ALL TARIFFS ON VEHICALPARTS TO 25%.

So another brilliant move by Trump had he not k**led the Obama era TPP agreements, what ever tariff distortions which now exist that Trump misinformed his ignorant base would have automatically been reduced. Now he is considering getting back into TPP. So Trump who is totally ignorant to Trade agreements just cherry picks and the Trump base who lack reseach sk**ls just buy into Trump and Fox News.

So with the ongoing Trump ignorance to World wide trade China makes up a relatively small share of US Auto imports overall and he didn’t tell the complete story by singling out cars rather than a broader category of related imports versus exports. But Trumps own trade policies have contributed to the disparity in car import tariffs.

Trump is beginning to panic because he told his base he would do bi-Lateral trade agreements and over 200 countries around the world have refuse to negotiate bi-Lateral trade agreements because they are invovled in multi country trade agreements and they can’t do bi-Lateral trade.
