Lou please show me just one post I made putting down this electric car!
I did say that replacing the batteries would be prohibitively expensive, which is fact!
I did say that any real revolutionary new battery design would probably be bought and buried by big oil! probably another fact!
Where did I put the technology down? I didn't!
Two of my sisters drive Toyota Prius's and average 50 MPG, I think they are great cars, I'm all about technology. I even love my fast computer and even faster Charter internet service.
I do not however agree that an electric car is in my future, maybe my children but most likely my grandchildren. Like it or not we are and will continue to be reliant on petroleum for our main source of energy for the foreseeable future.
This is where our disagreement with you came about,(fracking) , or have you forgotten.
There is room for advancements in solar energy, but I think it should be left for industry to work out the bugs and make it workable and stop these ridiculous subsidies that Obama is wasting our tax dollars on. They are simply using this crap to channel billions of our tax dollars into the pockets of their friends in low places.
You even stated that the TEA party was responsible for the sequester, well who gives a s**t, someone has to stop the liberal dumb asses from spending us into oblivion!
What if there isn't enough money to fund all the programs that keep b****s v****g for liberals, what if there isn't enough money to let school children tour the white house, which is a joke by the way!
It hasn't stopped Obama from spending hundreds of millions of dollars on vacations, and just wasting untold tax dollars on stupid s**t! Every one can see through what he is doing, it's nothing short of criminal!
So we do disagree with you but at least be honest when you imply that we are against the technology!

I was not going to respond to you anymore, but I can't let some of your bogus statements go without a rebuttal. After this response you won't hear from me much anymore because you are only interested in an echo of your own opinion, you do not respect anyone else's. You apparently do not know anything about the Tea Party when you make statements that it is the Tea Party that is bringing down the economy. You must be clueless about economics too because no Tea Party bill, or policy, has been adopted, or passed that has brought down the economy. It is Obama and his fellow democrats who have brought down this economy, they own it. Then, you blame the Tea Party for servitude to big oil, and tax cuts for the rich on the backs of the middle class - another bogus left-wing assertion. Under Obama, the income of the top 7% of earners has risen 28%, and the income of the lower 93% of earners has decreased by 4%. The rich have been getting richer (which I have no problem with), and the middle/poor class are getting poorer under Obama. Just for your info, the rich people do all the hiring, not the middle class. Obama's policies and inflation are k*****g the middle class and poor. The poor now comprise 16% of the population, the highest since LBJ back in 1965. Many of the rich have gotten richer due to the Fed propping up the stock market, which by the way is heading for a huge correction.

My MORALs over everyone else? At least I have some morals, the Democrat Party sure doesn't have any!

The sequestration for your info was Obama's idea. He proposed that idea when they c*********d on the debt ceiling back in December/January. He made it political and tried to turn the tables use it to damage the Republican Party when it came time to put up or shut up. Secondly, there was NO CUT! It was a reduction in the increase in spending, which the democrats always llike to label as a cut. Look up base line budgeting. And, we're only talking about $35b, a mere drop in the bucket when it comes to a $3.5T budget. It was a joke, and all political posturing by the Democrats.

As to water usage by fracking, reduce lawn watering and you will save about 10 times the amount of water that used for fracking.

Of course the expletives had to come out towards the end as that is the only way liberals can express themselves. And, you talk about morals. Don't throw stones when you live in a glass house, pal.

Don't worry it wasn't Oldschool or lou's home just another southern hard working family dumped on their ass!
I sure will be glad when Obama's stimulus package kicks in and stops this senseless foreclosure s**t!
Oh hell never mind these were white folks, it wasn't going to help them anyway!

oldroy, I don't think LOU is stupid I just think he has a disconnect somewhere between He and Himself, you know like the old one about the loose nut between the steering wheel and the seat!
Notice he brags about technology in one sentence and then berates it in the next!
You know just been sucking Obama hind tit too long. Stuff gets into his eyes and he thinks it is milk!

You're misreading old school I didn't say it was due to fracking alone , I said fracking was exacerbating the problem , and for some towns the problem is critical due to fracking . The information I stated didn't come from HuffPO it came from Scientific American . .

You gonna call Scientific American Left Leaning ??? I have no idea of who John Platt is .

Most of the info that Scientific American got came directly from the Upper Colorado River Authorities , are they lefty wackos ?

You no doubt read The Huffington Post article on water use in fracking, and researched no further. If you would research further you would find many studies that the amount of water used in hydraulic fracturing will level off in the future, as water recycling technologies mature and the industry's rapid growth rate cools. You see their engineers are working on ways to reduce water usage. As for the oil statement, we have enough oil under our own surface, and off our coasts, to last 200+ years. We have abundant coal deposits that will last hundreds of years. How about using new technology to further reduce coal emissions, instead of destroying the industry?

Wait for 5, 10, or 20 years down the road when studies and reports start coming out about how much solar and wind power are destroying the environment - they're coming. Ever live close to a wind farm? I have an aunt that does, and the ground shaking from the wind generators are destroying her basement, not to mention the constant noise they generate.

I have no doubt that new battery technology will eventually design a better battery, but it it's many years away.

I'm not quiet sure how far down the road new battery technology really is. I read an article not long ago that some college kids were on the verge of perfecting a new type of battery that would store many times the energy that today's batteries are capable of!
The new design was supposed to be much smaller lighter and far more economical to produce, did I mention safer.
The problem with something like that is if it really is that good the petroleum industry will buy the rights to it and it will never see the market!

Battery technology is still it's achilles heel (not to mention cost), just as it is in solar power. Until a new cheaper and more durable battery is invented, the battery will be the downside of the electric car industry. In addition, many states (CA, NV, to name a few) are concerned about electric cars not using enough gas and therefore not paying any state fuel taxes. So they're currently evaluating mileage driven tax plans to ensure the electric car owners pay their fair share. Plus, our over-taxed antiquated electrical grid has to be used to charge the batteries. With the left ramping up "g***n e****y" plans (no matter the cost), the cost of electricity in the future is going to increase drastically.

They will probably just add a new tax to everyone's electric bills to make up for lost revenue!

Great car , now if they sell , that will bring the price down a bit . I think it will be a winner .

I just wonder what the battery life expectancy is? The battery would be a huge expense if it didn't last for years!
I have made a living for years using lit-ion battery powered tools and can attest to their superiority in rapid charging and charge holding ability. I can also state that some of them last for years and some go bad in a matter of weeks.
My point is that if you have to replace a $10,000.00 battery every two years you are not saving anything over the price of gas!
