The school I teach in has a county Sherriff as a resource office,and several trained staff carrying.We have had this arrangement for 5-6 yrs. We have several staff who have received several days training with active shooter situations as the main focus. We also spend the first few daysof schhol going over protocol. When we go in lock down we have devices for every doorway to immobilized the door structure. Students move away from all doors and windows and we load them up with books and classroom items to throw at anyone entering. My shop students have an advatage with the hammers hand planes and such. A trained marksman shoot with 20 to 30% accuracy in a rushed and stressful environment, I suspect that to drop quite lower when trying to aim with 16 ounce hammers flying at you. Put these mentaly disturbed cowards in a situation where they become an instant target they will seek other buildings where they will not be challenged.(aka gun free zones/soft targets)
