I've seen advertisements put out by the NRA and they are NOT directed toward responsible programs. No child should be handling a gun - any type - under the age of 12. Yet, I've seen photos depicting children under the age of 5 being trained. The NRA has spent inredible quantities of money, epecially after the multi-death producing outbreaks we've had.

I maintain that if people do not have a gun, they won't use it.

The government is not directed to removing all guns from those who have them. Primarily it is against multi-action rifles that have no place in a normal society.

I definitely can see the need for a rifle for hunting - BUT NOT SQUIRRELS! And answer me, "Who has need of military weaponry besides the military?

Seems like the fools can only attract conservatard/teabag geezers. Not the audience demographic the advartisers want and need. The fools have a loyal core of fools, but being old, whiny, greedy and stupid beyond belief is why the amaor advertisers are the gold peddlers and hucksters, the reverse mortgage s**m and the law firms who target the medicl industry.

Investigators believe 8-year-old intentionally k**led 90-year-old woman

East Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office officials say they believe an 8-year-old intentionally pulled the trigger and k**led an elderly woman Thursday evening right after playing 'Grand Theft Auto IV'. Although they believe it was an intentional crime, according to Louisiana law, the child will not be charged.
In what is now being called a homicide, the Sheriff's Office says it happened at the Country Breeze mobile home park on LA 67 near Slaughter, LA just after 5 p.m.

Investigators said they found a woman with a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene. According to family members of the victim, her name was Marie Smothers. Smothers was 90 years old.

In a release from the Sheriff's Office, it says although the child initially told investigators that he accidentally shot Smothers while playing with a firearm, the investigation has led them to believe the child intentionally shot her. Smothers was shot in the back of the head while she was in the living room watching television.

The release also states: "By accounts of relatives of the victim, as well as friends of the family, the victim and the juvenile had a normal, loving, relationship." "Although a motive for the shooting is unknown at this time investigators have learned that the juvenile suspect was playing a video game on the Play Station III "Grand Theft Auto IV", a realistic game that has been associated with encouraging violence and awards points to players for k*****g people, just minutes before the homicide occurred."

An autopsy was performed Friday afternoon, but results have not been released at this time.

The 8-year-old suspect was released to his parents Thursday night. His name has not been released because of his age.

Authorities say that Louisiana law prohibits them from charging the child with a crime because of his age.

The law states: "Those who have not reached the age of 10 years are exempt from criminal responsibility. However, nothing in this article shall affect the jurisdiction of juvenile courts as established by the constitution and statutes of this state."


The investigation is ongoing.

Slaughter, LA is 21 miles north of Baton Rouge.

The comment I stated was concerning an incident which occurred in the Greater New York Area. I keep in touch with Channel 7 News. I am dismayed by the amount of gun crimes in that area primarily because of the Carry Bans. In this particular situation not only did one person shoot another but the friend of the wounded person was also carrying!

The NRA believes that if more people carry guns, everyone will be safer. The above incident disproves that theory.

I do recall that, during the rush hour in California, when people are frustrated and tempers rise due to rising temperatures, drivers had been known to shoot at other drivers simply because they were stuck in traffic.

My point is: If people are given ammunition to use (when normally they will simply swear at each other or, the greatest extent will be a fist fight, they will use that ammunition.

Psychological exams do not work because any really smart person (or, some times, a psychologically unbalanced one) can pass those tests. I see nothing wrong with hunting for food but, in many cases, people hunt because they like to k**l. That instinct is in all of us if we are allowed to express it. I'd personally rather see a fist fight.

The only way I can see to prevent people from k*****g each other in a temper is to ban carrying concealed weapons.

Lets see, you're going to take one state and judge conservatism by the statistics of that one state? What were these same demographics before 2004? I'll look them up myself later, but I would wager they were a lot worse. You want to compare all the states run by Democrats, you know, the ones with the highest crime rates, highest taxes, worst schools, etc?

Let's take a look at the demographics with what liberalism has done to the country as a whole. Liberals have dumbed down the educational system, liberalism is destroying the military with it's social engineering, liberalism is destroying the healthcare industry with Obamacare, Liberalism has produced a national debt that is going through the roof and has produced over $70 trillion in unfunded liabilities, liberalism is in the process of destroying the morals of our youth, liberalism is trying to take our guns away so they can make us all victims, and you have the gall to say conservatism is destroying this country?!

Socialism (hence liberalism) has not worked in any country where it has been tried. Capitalism (hence conservatism) has produced the most powerful military and economy that the world has ever seen - the United States of America!

Liberalism is going to destroy America as we know it. With the Democrats in charge we are going to continue to see a stagnant economy, high unemployment, smaller less capable military, continued destruction of the education system, lower standard of living, higher percentage of the population slipping into lower middle class and the poor (destruction of the middle class), etc., etc., etc.

The AARP represents their members (I am not a member) They supported President Bush on the drug benefits, Medicare plan D. They supported Obamacare as they thought it best for their members. The portion "taken away" from medicare is simply the overpriced medicare plus programs that pay insurance companies to oversee Medicare (insurance company overhead 30%, medicare overhead 3%) we simply can't afford to pay insurance companies to 'manage' medicare. No medicare benefits were taken away from medicare patients, just Humana and the other insurance companies
