George Soros Lauds Efforts to Let I******s V**e

In a Monday morning tweet, billionaire activist George Soros sent out some public praise for his own Open Society'€™s work to make U.S. e******ns €“ in his mind – fairer, but which is really, in the views of constitutional, rule-of-law type Americans, aimed at giving i*****l i*******ts the ability to v**e this November.

Soros is already on record supporting Hillary Clinton.

In July, Politico reported this:

Soros has donated or committed more than $25 million to boost Hillary Clinton and other Democratic candidates and causes, according to Federal E******n Commission records and interviews with his associates and Democratic fundraising operatives. And some of his associated say they expect Soros, who amassed a fortune estimated at $24.9 billion through risky currency trades, to give even more as E******n Day nears.€

Moreover, his personal political adviser, Michael Vachon, had this to say in the same story:

This year, the political stakes are exceptionally high. They were high even before Trump became the nominee because of the hostility on the other side toward many of the issues George cares most about and has worked to support for many years, including immigration reform, criminal justice reform and religious tolerance.€

And now this, from Soros' own Twitter account, @georgesoros, just Monday morning.

He first posted a photograph and beginning of a story entitled "Why the U.S. E******ns Just Got a Little Fairer", that read: €œA series of court rulings ensures hundreds of thousands of eligible v**ers will be able to exercise their rights at the polls this November.


And he praised the advocates€™ work, mirroring what the story said about their ensuring eligible U.S. v**ers can actually cast b****ts this November.

The €œeligible v**ers€ he’s talking about are mostly those who are anything but eligible.

The story, written by Erica Teasley Linnick, reads in part:

€œThree years ago this summer, the U.S. Supreme Court gutted a key portion of the 1965 V****g Rights Act. The courts ruling in Shelby County v. Holder left v**ers in 15 states without protections previously afforded them under the landmark civil rights legislation. State legislators whose e******n policies had previously been deemed discriminatory by the Justice Department were emboldened to enact v**er ID and other suppressive measures that negatively impact v**ers of color, using false arguments about the prevalence of fraud to fuel their efforts.

€œIn response to these challenges, the Open Society Foundations created the Shelby Response Fund, bringing together litigators, researchers, state and local advocates, communications strategists, and organizers. The fund€™s members worked on a number of fronts to try to restore v****g rights protections stripped away by the high court ruling.

€œLately, one aspect of their efforts in particular has been bearing fruit. In recent weeks, our v****g rights grantees have celebrated court victories ensuring that hundreds of thousands of eligible v**ers will be able to exercise their rights at the polls this November.

€œOn August 11, a federal district court in North Carolina held that the state legislature had unconstitutionally used race in redrawing district boundaries in 2011, unnecessarily increasing the percentage of black v**ers in districts where they had been successfully electing their candidates of choice for years. This case, filed by the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, was five years in the making €”an example of how long justice can take, as well as the importance of the courts as a corrective.

€œLast month, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit ruled that North Carolina'€™s 2013 v**er ID legislation was enacted with discriminatory intent in violation of both the V****g Rights Act and the U.S. Constitution. This v**er ID measure was infamously referred to as the “monster bill” because of its far-reaching impact on v****g rights—it also eliminated early v****g, same-day registration, preregistration for 16- and 17-year-olds, and out-of-precinct v****g.

€œAlso in July, a federal court decided to provide a safety net for Wisconsin v**ers who, under a 2011 law, are required to present v**er ID at the polls. With this ruling, the court gives v**ers who have a difficult time getting qualifying ID the option to v**e by affidavit and receive a regular b****t instead of a provisional one. The court found that the state’s interests could not justify disenfranchising v**ers who cannot obtain ID with reasonable effort.In Texas, after three years of litigation, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled that the state’s 2013 v**er ID law does indeed violate Section 2 of the V****g Rights Act by denying black and Latino v**ers an equal opportunity to cast a b****t.

€œAnd in North Dakota, a federal court ruled that North Dakota’s v**er ID law placed a disproportionate burden on Native American v**ers who didn'€™t have driver'€™s licenses or a tribal ID that included an address. No eligible v**er, regardless of their station in life, should be denied the opportunity to v**e, the court held.

The story ends with one final note of caution for citizens ,€“ legal ones€“ concerned about the possibility for shenanigans at the polls this fall.

This work is by no means done, it read. €œThese recent victories will help bolster the advocates€™ efforts in the coming months and years, and ensure that so many v**ers disenfranchised by suppressive laws have an opportunity to participate fully in the e******ns this November.

When one looks at lists of the largest donors to global political causes in the last 15 to 20 years, one name continues to pop up again and again, especially when it comes to large contributions to progressive and Democratic organizations and political action committees: George Soros.

As the world’s 27th-wealthiest individual, Soros has a net worth of nearly $25 billion, most of it located offshore. Much of that wealth has come from currency speculation and big bets in international markets that have been affected by one of Soros’ biggest side interests — politics.

In fact, given the amount of money Soros has given to progressive and liberal groups in the last 20 years — from MoveOn to Occupy Wall Street to Black L***s M****r — it seems disingenuous of Wikipedia to refer to Soros as a “philanthropist”; “global manipulator” is a more apt title.

As one of the planet’s most affluent citizens, Soros hasn’t been shy about flexing his political muscles, as atrophied as they likely are at his age of 86.

Born Jewish, Soros began life prior to the outbreak of World War II in Budapest, Hungary. When the N**is had designs on his birth country along with the rest of Europe, Soros might have thought he could escape destiny by declaring himself an atheist.

In 1944, when the Germans occupied Hungary, Soros’ father hid him with the family of a German-Hungarian official, who Soros accompanied to work some days. The official’s job? Deporting Jews to concentration camps and seizing their property.

After the war, the Soros’ family moved to England where the young Soros attended the London School of Economics (LSE). It was there where he became a disciple of Professor Karl Popper, who advocated societal change through violence and Marxist doctrines.

From Popper’s book, “The Open Society and Its Enemies” Soros would later draw much of his ideals, and the book’s title even influenced the name of Soros’ largest political action group, the Open Society Foundations (OSF).

After graduating from the LSE, Soros started working for investment banks, first in England, and then in New York. He began making his fortune via hedge funds including what later became known as “The Soros Fund” and “The Quantum Fund.” Much of Soros’ early investment bets were in defense industry-related stocks and companies.

Living in Greenwich Village in the 1960s, Soros went on to meet many students and radical leaders of the time, including Aryeh Neier, one of the founders of the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), a radical socialist group that sought to o*******w the U.S. government.

After leaving SDS, Neier joined the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) where he eventually became its national executive director. In 1978, after his stint at the ACLU, Neier went on to found a group called Human Rights Watch (HRW). At both the ACLU and HRW, Neier promoted the idea that the United States was one of the worst violators of human rights in the world.

Apparently, despite Soros’ early financial investments, thinking like this had become appealing to the financier, and he eventually made Neier the leader of the OSF, which Soros originally established in 1979 in Hungary but brought to New York by 1993.

OSF then turned around and gave over $8 million to the ACLU and more than $100 million to HRW. OSF now operates in 37 countries and has given $11 billion to progressive and liberal causes and organizations since 1993.

Another member of the radical left that Soros met with was Beat poet Allen Ginsburg, who doubtless had an impact on Soros’ approach to drug policies. Soros has admitted to smoking and enjoying marijuana in the past.

The relationship between Soros and the global drug trade remains murky, but it’s known that a number of Soros’ companies are based in offshore havens that are known money-laundering capitals for the drug trade, such as the territories of the Dutch Antilles. One drug culture publication, called Heads, refers to Soros as “Daddy Weedbucks” and said that Soros “drops the bucks exactly where they’re needed.”

While Soros claims to be an open advocate of drug legalization, it may be more accurate to say that he’s interested in influencing various countries’ national drug policies, as opposed to pure legalization.

In the United States, Soros has claimed that “harm” to drug addicts would be “reduced” if the government took over the business of drug sales and distribution. Of course, what’s not stated is that the government would have to buy drugs from some entities, somewhere.

Soros is in favor of federal regulation of local police forces, and one area of encroachment Soros would like to push is drug policy. Soros would like law enforcement to give far more leeway to addicts and dealers, providing the former with government-funded paraphernalia and the latter with more legal space in which to operate. Soros would essentially like the U.S. to surrender in the war on drugs, which would be almost certain to result in more American citizens experimenting with them.

Soros funds a group called the Drug Policy Alliance (DPA), whose executive director, Ethan Nadelmann, was queried about his relationship with Soros and Soros’ desire to put his stamp on the Supreme Court in the early 2000s via the billionaire’s funding of Democrat John Kerry’s p**********l campaign.

“Are we going to get some Supreme Court justices out of this?” Nadelmann was asked at the 2004 National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) conference. “We will see,” was Nadelmann’s response, adding that delivering “all the goods” might be difficult.

The DPA was effective in defeating incumbent Albany, New York District Attorney Paul Clyne in the Democratic primary of 2004. At the time, Nadelmann said that he was proud of what his group had “contributed to this race” and “what happened in Albany” had “national resonance.”

In California, the DPA and other groups attempted to overturn the state’s “three strikes” law via the Proposition 66 referendum, which had serious implications for drug dealers. Had the law been overturned, more than 25,000 dangerous criminals would have been put back on the streets.

Republican California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was against the initiative and appeared in radio and television ads fighting it. In the end, v**ers rejected the measure by 52 percent to 47 percent.

In the meantime, the DPA has given grants to “marijuana clubs” that dispense the drug, including California-based “Cannabis Consumers,” whose director Mikki Norris said, “we honor George Soros.”

In the wake of these efforts, the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA) released a report in which it said that since the mid-1990s, “incremental changes in state drug laws have continued at an alarming rate across our nation” which are designed to “ultimately legalize drugs.”

The report named Soros as one of the wealthy individuals behind a “very well-financed” legalization movement, which is “highly adept at manipulating the media.”

The NDAA was correct; Soros’ OSF indeed supports many independent and progressive press organizations, such as the Independent Media Institute, the Center for Investigative Reporting, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, the Fund for Investigative Journalism, The Media Access Project, The Media Awareness Project, Investigative Reporters & Editors, MediaChannel.org and the Association for Progressive Communications.

In 1995, Soros made a large donation to the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), which later released a paper entitled “Rethinking International Drug Control.” Writer A.M. Rosenthal in The New York Times wrote at the time that the paper was “so negative in substance and tone about United States efforts to stem drug use, production and distribution that it amounts to an invitation to drop those efforts.”

Since the 1990s, Soros has become far more aggressive in his approach to alter the political landscape. Soros pushed Wisconsin Senator Feingold and Arizona Senator John McCain to reform campaign finance laws with their 2002 McCain-Feingold Act, which then allowed Soros to give “the most money donated by an individual in an e******n cycle,” according to the Washington Post.

Soros t***sformed the way donors give to Democratic Party causes by forming “527” and “501c” tax-exempt nonprofit corporations that would be the recipients of largesses rather than the candidates or the party itself. This was a way of going around former campaign finance laws that restricted special interests.

Soros is committed to the causes of globalism, in which bodies such as the UN would dictate countries’ (including the U.S.’s) laws. Soros has made it known that he would like the U.S. to play less of a role in the world’s affairs, leading to a likely devaluation of the U.S. dollar. In the early 1990s, Soros famously made a bet against the value of the British pound, allowing him to profit to the tune of $1 billion in a single day.

Prominent Democrats such as Hillary Clinton (to whom Soros donated $2 million in 2015) have praised Soros, with the former Secretary of State saying, “we need people like George Soros, who is fearless and willing to step up when it counts.”

Bill Clinton’s Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbot called Soros “a national treasure,” and brought Soros on board a team helping Russia t***sition to a market economy. Later, Soros admitted to insider trading involving a Russian oil company. Soros boasted, “I have great access in the Clinton administration. We practically work together as a team.”

In 2008 and 2012, Soros was a major donor to the p**********l campaigns of Barack Obama, calling Obama “someone with the charisma and vision to radically reorient America.”

Only days after Obama was elected, Soros was quoted as saying, “I think we need a large stimulus package which will provide funds for state and local government to maintain their budgets, because they are not allowed by the Constitution to run a deficit. For such a program to be successful, the federal government would need to provide hundreds of billions of dollars… In total, the cost would be between $300 billion and $600 billion range.”

What was one of Obama’s first acts as president? A $787 billion stimulus bill. Who was responsible for the crafting of the bill? A group called The Apollo Alliance. Where did The Apollo Alliance get most of its funding? From The Tides Foundation, which in turn is funded by Soros.

The above examples and connections are only a small fraction of the total number that can be cited. To really be given justice, a full article on these subjects would need to be 10 times as long. Suffice it to say, however, that the long tentacles of George Soros and his OSF beneficiaries can be felt throughout today’s Democratic government and its g*******t policies.

The only way to ensure that the stranglehold influence of Soros does not continue to corrupt American society is to v**e for conservative, anti-g*******t forces such as GOP p**********l nominee Donald Trump in November. Eventually, like fellow g*******t and billionaire David Rockefeller, Soros will pass away. But for now, his corrupting clout can be strongly felt in the heart of the country’s politics.

“Talking exclusively to Dunya News on program Nuqta-e-Nazar, Khizr Khan said he often gets emotional while speaking in public but when nature wants you to do something, words come by themselves. He said his speech was a gift from the God. ‘I showed the Constitution only because I wanted to remind people that nobody could be discriminated against in the name of religion,’ said Khizr.”

The report continued, “Khan said that Donald Trump actually exposed himself by criticizing him. He added that Donald Trump’s words were stupid. ‘All citizens must be equal before the state. All immigrants are against the stupid Republican candidate,’ he said.”

The report was highlighted by writer Jim Hoft for The Religion of Peace website and at Gateway Pundit.

“Allah akbar,” Hoft wrote. “Shariah-supporting attorney Khizr Khan is still making the media rounds.”

Hoft also had reported on Khan’s Shariah allegiance.

“Wow! Only memorable moment from DNC convention was ALL A LIE! Khizr Khan believes Shariah trumps Constitution,” he wrote in a headline.

Linking to an online Infowars report explaining Khan founded the Islamic Journal to defend Shariah, which provides for the execution of Christians and Jews, Hoft wrote, “Now we know all of that Muslim screaming was a lie.”

Kahn has links to Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton’s secret email server that she used as secretary of state.
Khan previously worked for nine years at the Washington-based global law firm Hogan & Hartson, which is now called Hogan Lovells Llp. Today, he has a law firm in New York called KM Khan Law Office. But on Tuesday, he suddenly deleted his law firm’s website from the Internet.

According to a screenshot captured by the Internet archiving website Wayback Machine, Khan managed Hogan & Hartson’s “Litigation Technology Services group” for the firm’s domestic and international branches.

According to the page, Khan “was responsible for numerous large electronic discovery projects in complex litigation, mergers and acquisitions.”

“Oddly enough, Hogan & Hartson – again, the firm for which Khan oversaw the tech branch for nearly a decade – was the law firm who handled the patent for ‘SPAMTRAQ,’ the spam-filtering program used on Clinton’s server,” according to the Daily Caller.

Breitbart’s Patrick Howley reported that SPAMTRAQ was a creation of MX Logic, a Denver-based company that has a checkered history of leaving servers open to security breaches.

Bill and Hillary Clinton’s personal tax attorney, Howard Topez, worked for Hogan & Hartson while Khan was there. Topaz is still employed at the firm.

There’s another curious twist to Khan’s work history at Hogan Lovells Llp, as the firm was contracted by the Saudis to work for the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia until 2016.

“Robert Kyle, a lobbyist from the firm, has bundled $50,850 for Clinton’s campaign,” and it added: The Saudi government has “supplied the Clinton Foundation with millions. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has given between $10 and $25 million to the foundation while Friends of Saudi Arabia has contributed between $1 and $5 million.

“Is Saudi Arabia trying to manipulate the U.S. p**********l e******n?”

Khan, who was accompanied by his wife Ghazala Khan, appeared on stage at the DNC and criticized Trump for proposing to temporarily halt migration from countries that have exported Muslim terrorists and to build a wall on America’s southern border.

Khan accused Trump of proposing to violate the U.S. Constitution, apparently presuming the Constitution forbids vetting foreigners who want to enter the U.S. from countries known to harbor terrorists.

Kahn’s son, Capt. Humayun S. M. Khan, was k**led in Iraq in 2004 after he confronted a bomb-packed taxi that drove into a compound while he was inspecting soldiers on guard duty. He told the soldiers to drop to the ground then went to stop the car, which exploded, k*****g him and two Iraqi soldiers. He was buried in Arlington with full military honors and posthumously awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart;however, many believe had he lived, he would have faced a court martial.This is not the first time some Muslim in uniform went Fort Hood crazy in a CAMOCIDE attempt in taking as many of those evil Americans with him before he was taken down.

An FBI employee with top secret security clearance has pleaded guilty to acting as an "agent of the Chinese government", the US says.
Kun Shan Chun, a naturalised US citizen born in China and known as Joey, admitted in court to sending sensitive information to a Chinese official.
US Attorney Preet Bharara said he had threatened the country's security through a "duplicitous" betrayal.
Chun "deeply regrets" what he did and loves the US, his lawyer said.
While he could face a sentence of up 10 years in prison, the government and defence agreed a sentence of between 21 and 27 months "would be appropriate", the New York Times reports, citing the plea agreement.
The Chinese Embassy in Washington is yet to comment, the Associated Press reports.
'Financial rewards'
Chun, 46, worked for the FBI as an electronics technician from 1997 until his arrest in March.
He was introduced to a Chinese government official during a trip to Italy and France in 2011, the Department of Justice says, and they continued to meet privately abroad.
He is accused of having covered up his connections with at least one Chinese government official and a Chinese technology company, Zhuhai Kolion, in which he had an "indirect financial interest", according to the justice department.
Court papers in New York said in 2013 he sent an unnamed Chinese official a chart showing the FBI's organisational structure and two years later sent photos of restricted documents about surveillance technologies.
Chun also provided the identity and travel schedule of an FBI agent, Assistant US Attorney Emil Bove said.
He was rewarded financially and through perks such as holidays and hotel stays, according to authorities.
According to the complaint, he was caught after offering to help an undercover agent t***smit sensitive government information to his Chinese associates.

Paris strikes astonishing partnership with secret Isis sponsor tied to Hillary Clinton [EXCLUSIVE]

The City of Paris has struck a corporate partnership with French industrial giant, Lafarge, recently accused of secretly sponsoring the Islamic State (Isis or Daesh) for profit.



Documents obtained by several journalistic investigations reveal that Lafarge has paid taxes to the terror group to operate its cement plant in Syria, and even bought Isis oil for years.

Yet according to the campaign group, SumOfUs, Lafarge is the corporate partner and sand provider to the City of Paris for this summer’s Paris-Plages urban beach event. The project run by Office of the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, will create artificial beaches along the river Seine in the centre and northeast of Paris.

Lafarge also has close ties to Democrat p**********l candidate Hillary Clinton. Apart from being a regular donor to the Clinton Foundation, Clinton herself was a director of Lafarge in the early 1990s, and did legal work for the firm in the 1980s. During her connection to Lafarge, the firm was implicated in facilitating a CIA-backed covert arms export network to Saddam Hussein.

Blood money

An investigative report by the French daily Le Monde revealed in June that the corporation, the world’s leader in construction materials, had paid taxes to Isis middlemen, as well as other armed groups in Syria, to protect its cement business operations in the country.

But the Le Monde story only covered a fraction of the revelations. Previous investigations by Zaman al-Wasl, an independent news outlet run by elements of the Syrian opposition, revealed that Lafarge had even regularly bought oil from Isis.


Al-Wasl’s original investigation, which Le Monde appears to have borrowed from considerably, was published in February, and based on internal documents and emails from the company. Al-Wasl reported that the CEO of Lafarge Cement Syria, Frederic Jolibois, had personally instructed his firm to make payments to Isis.

Under fire

France has repeatedly been targeted by Daesh, and Daesh-inspired terrorists, over the last few years. The latest mass atrocity occurred in Nice, where 84 people were k**led on Bastille Day. On Tuesday, a priest in Normandy was brutally murdered by Isis terrorists.

Paris itself has been repeatedly attacked by terrorists. On 13 November 2015, Isis coordinated a series of terror strikes in Paris and its northern suburb, Saint-Denis, k*****g 130 people and injuring 368.

Yet Paris’ new corporate partner, according to Le Monde, sponsored the Isis terror group in Syria in the preceding years to keep up company profits.

Profit over people

Emails discovered by Le Monde reveal that Lafarge – which merged with Swiss cement maker Holcim in 2015 – had made “arrangements […] with the jihadist group to continue production until September 19, 2014.”

Most of these emails seem to have been first obtained by Zaman al-Wasl. Lafarge’s Syria operations ended on that date when Isis took over the firm’s facility in Jalabiya.

Documents show that Lafarge’s Paris headquarters were fully aware of the business deal with Isis. The company even sent a representative into Isis territory “to get permission from Isis group to let employees past checkpoints,” reports Le Monde.

A “pass stamped with an Isis group stamp and endorsed by [Isis] finance chief in the Aleppo region” confirms Lafarge’s deal with Daesh to allow the free circulation of its goods.

In February 2015, Isis were driven out of the Jalabiya region by Kurdish forces.

Lafarge has declined to address the allegations, stating only that the firm’s highest priority was to protect the safety of its employees in Syria.

However, instead of ending its Syrian investments when the conflict began as most other international firms had done, which would have been the safest option, the firm struck a lucrative business deal with the jihadist terror group to maximise profits from its local cement operations.

Who is buying Isis oil?

According to Zaman al-Wasl, Lafarge regularly purchased fuel from Isis for its own operations, and even supplied cement for Isis to sell in Syria.

In one email trail, Lafarge general manager Bruno Pescheux received a warning from his Syria senior plant manager about repercussions due to the firm’s “illegal purchasing of petroleum products from ‘non-governmental organizations’ in areas outside the control of the Syrian government […] there are high expectations about a government action or a resolution against individuals and companies who purchase illegal petroleum products.”

Pescheux’s response was revealing. Agreeing that this could be a “worrying” issue “in the future” for Lafarge, he suggested the company prepare justifications for its policy, such as:

– at least the HFO [residual fuel oil] we consume is not smuggled abroad and benefits to [sic] Syria construction activity

– it is very minimum quantity compared to what is smuggled to Turkey.

Lafarge is not the only major company implicated in buying Isis oil, though it is perhaps the first case where a deliberate policy of purchasing oil from the jihadist group has been confirmed through the firm’s own internal documents.

Business partnerships of any kind with terror groups like Isis are criminal actions under international law, and subject to stringent US and EU sanctions.

What is Paris thinking?

Adding insult to injury, the Office of the Mayor of Paris has struck a corporate partnership with the very same sponsor of Isis to provide sand for this summer’s Paris-Plages event.

Outraged by the partnership, nearly 40,000 members of SumOfUs, the international corporate watchdog, have signed a petition demanding that Mayor Anne Hidalgo immediately cut Paris’ partnership with Lafarge.

Eoin Dubsky, SumOfUS campaign manager, said:

Terrorists should never be business partners. It is beyond reprehensible for Lafarge to be cutting deals with Isis just for profits’ sake. By enriching the terrorist group’s coffers with payments to continue its operations in Syria, Lafarge is inadvertently supporting Isis worldwide campaign of terror that has left scores k**led, displaced and under siege in one of the worst humanitarian nightmares of our time.

This is a scandalous partnership with the City of Paris that should have never happened. By partnering with Lafarge for this summer’s Paris-Plages event, the City of Paris is whitewashing the company’s obscene show of corporate greed that profits off the war and violence created by terrorists. It is high time to make Lafarge accountable for its support of terror, which is why nearly 40,000 SumOfUs members are calling on Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo to cut ties with Lafarge once and for all.

The Canary contacted the Parisian mayor Anne Hidalgo to find out how such an appalling partnership could be struck, but received no response.

Far from being courted by Paris with new contracts, Lafarge executives should be prosecuted in France for sponsoring the terrorist group behind the Paris attacks.

From Saddam to Clinton to post-war Iraq

But Lafarge leads quite a charmed existence.

Among its earliest benefactors was former First Lady and current p**********l hopeful, Hillary Clinton.

From 1990 to 1992, Clinton served on Lafarge’s Board of Directors. Under her tenure, Lafarge’s Ohio subsidiary was caught burning hazardous waste to fuel cement plants. Clinton defended the decision at the time.

Then just before her husband, Bill Clinton, was elected president in 1992, Lafarge was fined $1.8 million by the Environmental Protection Agency for these pollution violations. Hillary Clinton had left the board of Lafarge in spring, just after her husband won the Democrat nomination. A year later, under Bill’s presidency, the Clinton administration reduced Lafarge’s EPA fine to less than $600,000.

In the late 1980s, according to an archived investigative report in the American Spectator, Hillary Clinton was connected to Lafarge when the firm was involved in facilitating CIA support for Saddam Hussein’s secret weapons programme.

The American Spectator report from November 1996 cited sources confirming that Hillary Clinton did legal work for Lafarge in the late 1980s before she became a director. The report also claimed that Lafarge’s US subsidiary:

provided key services for the covert arms export network that supplied Saddam Hussein. To prevent exposure of that secret supply line, and collateral damage to Hillary Clinton – who joined Lafarge board in 1990, just as the arms pipeline was being shut down… the Justice Department was told to bury the investigation… But investigators from other US government agencies who worked on the case say they were ‘waved off’ whenever they got too close to exposing the direct involvement of the intelligence community in the arms export scheme.

Lafarge remains close to the Clintons to this day.

In 2013, Lafarge’s Executive Vice President for Operations, Eric Olson, was a ‘featured attendee’ at the Clinton Global Initiative’s annual meeting.

The company is a regular donor to the Clinton Foundation – the firm’s up to $100,000 donation was listed in its annual donor list for 2015. Lafarge is also listed again as a donor to the Clinton Foundation for the first quarter of 2016.

Lafarge is a major beneficiary of disaster capitalism in Iraq, dominating a market where Iraq’s infrastructure remains in dire need of hundreds of billions of dollars in investment. The company describes itself as “one of the largest non-oil investors in Iraq.”

The firm is not just an economic juggernaut. Its murky history of intelligence ties, and significant political clout in France and the US – the countries leading the airstrikes against Isis in Syria – raise the question of whether Lafarge believes it can profit from terror without accountability.
