Uh----nice rant, but I have NO idea what it is in reply to or what you're trying to say. And please, if you're going to try and use big words, at least spell them correctly.

Went back and reviewed some of my posts, somehow they got all screwed up as far as the responses---my apologies (that apparently is what happens with honey-di-itis requests)

He with the largest number of people willing to stand in line to filibuster are governing... what reasoned debate (not that I think debate is what make the Senate work) have you seen in the Senate recently?
And if you have a problem with actions not coming to the floor in the Senate you should make a call to Mitch McConnell.
Where is our new AG?

Our "new" AG is nothing more than Eric Holder 2.0, a self-admitted description. We don't need another r****t non-constitutionalist acting as top cop.
What good would it have done for the House to send anything that even had a whiff of conservative in it to the Senate? Can you name ONE Republican measure that was even debated on in the Senate? If that wasn't obstructionism I would like to see your definition of it and how it differed from perceived Republican obstructionism, which, apparently, is evil personified.

I think there's nothing wrong with side arguing vehemently for their POV. That's not necessarily intellectual arrogance as much as it is a healthy process for at least two sides to advocate for a POV ... and in the process, the idea is that stronger 'wins'.

The intellectual arrogance comes in when the chips are down, and all the arguments have been made ... it's time to ACT, to do SOMETHING.

That's the problem in congress right now. They debate, fight but they've forgotten that their ULTIMATE obligation is to govern and right or wrong ....DO SOMETHING.

I find it unacceptable that obstruction instead of governance has become the main, if not only goal.

There should be ramifications for failing to pass legislation once debated. For debating in bad faith, as a tactic to obstruct, not find SOMEthing to pass. It should not be legal to do nothing.

Sorry, but I think you couldn't be anymore mistaken. I don't think that vehemence should ever take the place of reasoned debate. I'm not sure what part "strength" has in debate other then proven sources, hence a "strong" argument. Just to reach a decision based on mule-headedness is usually the first sign that it is a wrong decision. Ask Neville Chamberlain about bad decisions just to have one. Ask General Grant about his decision at Cold Harbor. Ask Harry Reid about his decision to MAKE no decisions as a tactic to obstruct. If your 15 year old daughter was trying to decide to sleep with her boyfriend or not, would you council her to just make ANY decision?

Interesting article and interesting web site (one I had never heard of), but wouldn't the very idea that none of us REALLY "know" anything mean that the whole article is written in ignorance?

First off, having a work ethic doesn't make you liberal or conservative. Deciding who does what with the money you earned does.
I keep seeing the term middle class thrown about as if it were an absolute and has definition. Just like the phrase "poverty level" it's a completely amorphous term like "pretty" and "cool" and "working class", it's a handy painting tool for the unsk**led and a cop-out for proof.
At any rate-----

C'mon guys, you're delaying Missouri's return to Ferguson as a professional protester. The library is closing soon and the internet access will go away.

You are.....interesting to post with. Don't think I've ever come across someone more pedantic, or quite so bigoted. Whether you are who/what you proclaim to be is a matter of conjecture. But then, you have to take everyone's word for their accomplishments on OPP.
I can see why you like O'bama, you're very similar (not counting race unless you're mulatto)in that you're always right and so, by definition, everyone else is wrong. You seem to h**e r****ts or, at least, white r****ts, and because you write your own dictionary and thesaurus, country folk, non-graduate degree folk, military folk (at least the white ones) and conservative folk are beneath contempt.
So, you are who and what you are, as are we all. I doubt you could EVER be persuaded to change your mind on anything, and to paraphrase Lincoln, a thousand Angels swearing someone else was right would not make you even doubt yourself. But one thing I've found in my education is that there can be, and often is, a LARGE difference between knowledge and intelligence.

Interesting reply, of course you in no way answered the implied question. It seems your first instinct is to attack no matter what the other options, such as an intelligent, non-belligerent reply.
Your non-answer was thought provoking, though. You didn't rise to the bait on Thevenizing, maybe something easier, such as Mho? Also, your suggestion that I should get a life, I compared my join date to yours and your post number to mine. I DO have a life, and it's not spending hours posting semi-literate, eubonics-infused r****ts rants worthy of Craigslist.

At the risk of calling down abuse upon myself, I have to chime in.
"C*****r" is not derived from either the the cracking of cowboy whips or s***e master whips. It's first used in Shakespeare and in Florida Government papers and it's used as a pejorative for poor Scots/Celts long before Florida became a huge cattle raising state.
N****r is not derived from Nigeria. It was in use LONG before the name of the country. It is mainly derived from Latin and the other "romance" languages where the color black is some spelling of negro, niger etc.
"N***ardly" is not even related to n****r, as another poster said, it is ( I believe) Norwegian, and basically means stingy, and yes, it is still a legitimate word.
So, while I'm playing lightning rod, why the abuse for Hprinze? While I can see why some take offense and consider him a "Grammar N**i", what he said was true. When you write and spell correctly there is more credence to your argument. I read a lot of posts on OPP but reply to few of them, but the amazing amount of obviously intelligent people that have no clue (apparently) of the existence of different spellings of your and you're and to and too and two is appalling. How much weight would you give to a speaker using Eubonics to persuade you of anything? Same principle, different amplitude.
