Democrat Texas sheriff helping to give migrants flown to Martha's Vineyard 'victims of crimes' visas
https://www.theblaze.com/news/democrat-texas-sheriff-helping-to-give-migrants-flown-to-martha-s-vineyard-victims-of-crimes-visas?utm_source=theblaze-daily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=The%20Blaze%20PM%20Trending%202024-04-23&utm_term=ACTIVE%20LIST%20-%207%20Day%20Engagement&tpcc=email

Democrat sheriff in Texas has taken steps to ensure that at least some of the migrants flown to Martha's Vineyard a year and a half ago may remain in the U.S. for the foreseeable future.

In September 2022, Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida sent nearly 50 migrants, who made a brief stop in his state after crossing into the U.S. in Texas, to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, an island with six of the wealthiest, most exclusive towns in America, all of which adopted sanctuary policies regarding i*****l i*******ts several years ago.

Now, at least three of those migrants have been given "bona fide determinations" that will allow them to work legally in the U.S. as they await their U visas. U visas, short for U nonimmigrant status visas, are granted to some i*****l i*******ts who have been "victims of crimes" and yet have helped "law enforcement or government officials in the investigation or prosecution of criminal activity," said a website for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

As U visas can eventually t***sition into permanent residence status and perhaps even citizenship, the federal government caps the number of U visas each year at 10,000.

One precondition for obtaining a U visa is confirmation from "an authorized official" from a law enforcement agency that a migrant has been "helpful, and [is] currently being helpful, or will likely be helpful in the investigation or prosecution of [a] case," USCIS noted.

Sheriff Javier Salazar of Bexar County, Texas, is one such authorized law enforcement official. Shortly after the migrants were flown to Martha's Vineyard, Salazar — an identity-politics Democrat who has bragged about taking "action against government overreach toward women and minorities" — held a press conference, accusing DeSantis of committing "an abuse of human rights." However, at the time, he was unable to identify the criminal statute DeSantis had violated, as Blaze News previously reported.

Salazar quickly changed his tune and began pressuring Bexar County prosecutors to file felony and misdemeanor charges of unlawful restraint, arguing DeSantis and others had convinced the migrants to agree to fly to Martha's Vineyard under false pretenses. Such migrants were "exploited and hoodwinked into making this trip," Salazar claimed.

Thus far, the Bexar DA has made no moves to charge anyone in connection with the Martha's Vineyard flights. Nevertheless, Salazar confirmed that some of the migrants assisted his office's investigation into the flights, thereby rendering those migrants eligible for U visas.

Gov. DeSantis has long defended his decision to authorize relocating migrants from Florida to Massachusetts. "Immigrants have been more than willing to leave Bexar County after being abandoned, homeless, and 'left to fend for themselves,'" a statement from a DeSantis representative issued at the time read in part. "Florida gave them an opportunity to seek greener pastures in a sanctuary jurisdiction that offered greater resources for them, as we expected."

However, a judge in Massachusetts seems eager to go after at least some of those who participated in the Martha's Vineyard flights. Though she dismissed DeSantis and his associates from a lawsuit filed by some of the migrants, U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs argued earlier this month that Vertol Systems, which arranged the flights, should be held accountable because it "specifically targeted ... Latinx immigrants."

"Vertol participated in a scheme to recruit vulnerable individuals through deceit so they could unwillingly and publicly be used as a prop in an extremely d******e national debate," Burroughs wrote.

DeSantis did not respond to the Miami Herald's request for comment about the latest developments in this case.

Willie Nelson revealed the shocking story behind how he wrote one of his biggest hits
https://renewedright.com/willie-nelson-revealed-the-shocking-story-behind-how-he-wrote-one-of-his-biggest-hits/?utm_source=Sovi&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=rr_2135442938&utm_term=&utm_content=

Willie Nelson was one of the leaders of the outlaw movement in country music.

He hasn’t ever played by the music industry’s rules during his legendary career.

And Willie Nelson revealed the shocking story behind how he wrote one of his biggest hits.

Country legend Willie Nelson’s 1973 album Shotgun Willie was one of the first in the outlaw country genre that broke free from the rules of Nashville.

The album became one of the most popular with fans and influential in his career.

Willie Nelson thrives with freedom from record label
Nelson left his record label RCA Records to become the first country artist on Atlantic Records.

Atlantic Records producer Jerry Wexler encouraged him to experiment with his sound.

Nelson said in his 2015 memoir It’s a Long Story: My Life that he needed to come up with some music quickly to justify the freedom that Wexler gave him.

And that led to an unusual creative process for the title track on Shotgun Willie.

The wild story behind one of Willie Nelson’s Shotgun Willie
Nelson wrote the lyrics to Shotgun Willie in a hotel room, and he made use of what he could find there to do it.

“I liked the words, but I also felt the pressure,” Nelson wrote. “I needed at least two or three new songs to justify Wexler’s faith in me. I needed to come up with something quick.”

He saw a sanitary napkin used to cover a toilet seat and got to work.

“That night at the hotel I was in the bathroom, worrying about whether I could produce some great new song, when I noticed a dispenser for sanitary napkin bags next to the toilet,” Nelson added. “I took one out, got a pencil out of my pocket, and started scribbling wh**ever nonsense came to mind. The words came tumbling out.”

Nelson thought that the lyrics to Shotgun Willie wouldn’t resonate with audiences since they were based on incidents from his life.

“Wasn’t much more than a variation on a twelve-bar blues,” Nelson recalled. “I figured the words wouldn’t make much sense to anyone except me. Started out with my remembering that crazy day at the farm when I grabbed my shotgun and took aim at my daughter Lana’s husband.”

“The second verse was just me stalling for time till I could figure out something for that third verse,” Nelson continued. “And the third verse was me remembering John T. Floore, owner of a honky-tonk dance hall outside San Antone, who, in his misspent youth, had supplied the Klan with sheets.”

But it turned out that Wexler loved the song.

“When I sang the song for Wexler, I was certain he’d think I was nuts. ‘I think you’re brilliant!’ Jerry enthused. ‘Let’s cut it. Lay down another bunch of songs and we’ll call the record ‘Shotgun Willie,’” Nelson wrote.

Shotgun Willie ended up becoming one of the most critically acclaimed albums of Willie Nelson’s career and gave birth to his nickname.

Biden to Give Commencement Address at College, But Faculty Backlash Is Already Causing Problems:
https://www.westernjournal.com/biden-give-commencement-address-college-faculty-backlash-already-causing-problems-report/?utm_source=Email&utm_medium=CTBreaking&utm_campaign=breaking&utm_content=conservative-tribune

The Israel-Hamas war, in addition to exposing the virulent anti-Semitism on the left, has left Joe Biden in a truly unwinnable situation.

While many in the country have lent their support to Israel, most of the left, especially the more radical segments, have staked their entire existence on “freeing” the Palestinians.

Most sane people have watched in horror as college campuses and other liberal strongholds have erupted in pro-Palestinian protests. Highways and streets have been blocked, and the already woke Oscars were affected.

Even Sleepy Joe’s State of the Union speech was impeded by the presence of pro-Hamas protesters.

And now, NBC has reported that, in light of the announcement that Biden will be giving the commencement address at Morehouse College on May 19, the faculty have been raising “concerns” regarding the possible student response.

Specifically, NBC reported, those concerns mainly include whether Biden’s presence would cause another round of intense protests.

Biden has, despite throwing Israel under the bus in almost every imaginable way, stopped short of calling Israel’s defensive war a “genocide.”

Kendrick Brown, provost and senior vice president of student affairs at the historic black college, sent an email to faculty on Friday.

Will Biden win re-e******n?
Yes: 0% (0 V**es)
No: 100% (54 V**es)

“This week, I received an inquiry from concerned faculty about rumors they were hearing about President Biden’s se******n as the 2024 Commencement speaker,” the email said.

Therefore, he invited to the rest of the faculty for a virtual meeting on Thursday, for the purposes of extending “an opportunity for faculty with different perspectives on the se******n of our Commencement speaker to ask questions and make comments.”

Local Atlanta news station 11 Alive reached out to some current students of Morehouse, in an attempt to gauge their perspective on Biden’s address.

One student, sophomore Raman Enigbokan, said, “It’s not something I feel like I’d honestly partake in that commencement. … At the end of the day, this is something that’s on his political agenda to kind of maybe get more young, black v**ers or something.”

Enigbokan probably wasn’t all that far off in his judgement, seeing as the local paper of record, the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, seemed to believe the same regarding Biden’s intentions in speaking at Morehouse.

Another student, Eugene Sledge, seemed to have a more reasonable attitude towards the whole affair, telling 11 Alive, “However you feel about Biden, having a president be willing to speak at a graduation is a tremendous honor. If there are protesters, I just hope they can do things peacefully instead of violently.”

Oh, you sweet summer child.

If the protests at Columbia University have been any indication of how this might go, then the protests will go from bad to worse to apocalyptic (especially for Jewish students) in rapid succession.

Really, nothing Biden has said, or will say, has had any noticeable effect in cooling the vitriol of the pro-Palestinian college students.

Why, Biden had his own “very fine people on both sides” faux pas just the other day, saying, while “I condemn the anti-Semitic protests … I also condemn those who don’t understand what’s going on with the Palestinians,” CBS News reported.

Of course, the social media platform X has been set ablaze by this news, with many users either accusing Biden of pandering (which was probably true), as well as inciting their fellow radical anti-Semites to action.

Indeed, the Gaza War, together with the controversy around Biden’s commencement address, has illustrated the massive rift that has rent the left asunder ever since Oct. 7.

The virulent pro-Palestinian response has exposed the true anti-Semitism of the radical left, especially among the youth.

Not only that, but Biden’s attempts to play both sides of the debate has done nothing to appease the radical contingent of younger v**ers who, ironically, want Israel wiped off the face of the earth.

If the plans for his commencement address at Morehouse end up going forward, chances are that the radicals lurking at Morehouse will turn it into a messy spectacle that would not help Biden’s cause at all.

In this conflict, Biden cannot play both sides.

Room for Disaster

A man and his girlfriend check into a hotel. “I don’t know why, but I’m afraid that this room might be bugged with hearing devices.” the girlfriend tells her boyfriend. "I read online that some hotels do that!" “That’s crazy, there’s nothing to be worried about.” the man replies.

The girl insists, so he starts to search the room. He looks in all of the drawers, under the TV, and behind the curtains. When he pulls the rug up, to his utter disbelief, he finds a suspicious looking disc. “Wow, you might be right!” the man says as he unscrews the disc from the floor.

The next morning, they head to the front desk to check out of their room. “You guys must’ve had a good time last night!” the clerk says laughing.

Angry and confused, the man asks “AND HOW WOULD YOU KNOW THAT?!” The clerk replies “Well the entire chandelier came down on the floor below you...”

10 Great Benefits Of Being A Pastor's Wife
Just to inform all you liberals, this is satair from “The Bee”
https://babylonbee.com/news/10-great-benefits-of-being-a-pastors-wife?utm_source=The%20Babylon%20Bee%20Newsletter&utm_medium=email

Life in ministry is one of the greatest gifts anyone can experience, and that extends to pastors' wives as well. What's so great about being a pastor's wife? The benefits are abundant.

The Babylon Bee has come up with just a few reasons why pastors' wives have it made:

1...You get to run the women's ministry FOR FREE: Enjoy the excitement of working without being financially compensated in any way.

2...You get to be mentioned in every sermon illustration: Sit back and relax while the rest of the congregation learns a little more about you every week.

3...You get to hang on the pastor's back like Yoda in all photographs: Enjoy it, you will.

4...You haven't stopped smiling since 1998: Forced smiling has helpfully frozen your cheek muscles into a Joker-like state.

5...You can serve the Lord as a wife, mother, receptionist, piano player, Sunday school teacher, women's brunch organizer, Christmas stage poinsettia arranger, janitor, and marital counselor: And that's just on Tuesday!

6...You get a bonus sneak peek at each week's sermon: It's like an advance screening of a movie, only instead of a movie it's your husband's epic biblical mastery.

7...You're the only person who can picture the pastor in his underwear without it being a sin: Not that you have to. But you can.

8...You get to hear withering criticism about your husband and can't react or get upset in any way: Keep storing up that treasure in Heaven, sweetheart.

9...You get to bat cleanup on the church softball team: It pays to know the boss.

10..You get plenty of free advice on how to raise your kids from all 250 church members: Nice!

Yes, pastors' wives live quite the life. With perks like the list above, it's a wonder every woman doesn't dream of being married to a man in full-time ministry.
