As in the related thread about "taking pressure off" -- Former Texas Longhorn -- and then SMU Mustang QB Garrett Gilbert is one of the backups at New England.
He is due for a BREAK.
Gilbert BLEW a big game he was in for Texas Longhorns - then t***sferred to SMU.
I saw his debut as an SMU qb in Waco against Baylor -- I have never seen a more UNLUCKY college qb -- passes batted up -- Baylor guys running it all the way back -- that happened TWICE in Gilbert's first game as a Mustang
SMU used to do better when Hayden Fry was paying the players to be Mustangs.
September 4th - Baylor and SMU open their college season in Dallas - Gerald Ford Stadium
(What in the world did Gerald Ford have to do with Dallas, Texas?)
And Gilbert is lucky to be in the NFL at all -- and maybe get a chance to play for the Pats -- hell, he might get a SUPER BOWL RING !!

the principle that

if it did not directly affect the outcome of a situation
and I was contrasting
the one-sided victory over the Colts
to the
one-sided victory of Nixon being re-elected
the Patriots did not NEED the deflated balls to win the AFC championship
Nixon's campaign DID NOT NEED The break-in in order for him to be re-elected
but the apropriateness of the ACTIONS do not depend on the results of what they were done to influence
it was either wrong to mess with the air pressure in the footballs -- or it was not wrong -- regardless of how bad the Colts lost
it was either wrong to break into the WATERGATE OR IT WAS NOT WRONG - REGARDLESS OF THE EFFECT ON THE E******N RESULTS
one was just a game - one was natl politics - but a common principle is shared
So WATERGATE was simply Richard Nixon
