The reason we are in such a mess is that politicians keep saying we have the money, we have the assets, etc. Since when does any business large, or small operate like this and survive? If one checks the Bureau of the Public Debt it shows that the U.S. has had debt since its inception. The Civil War created big growth. U.S. debt passed $1 billion in 1863, and reached $2.7 billion following the war. Lehman Brothers went under with all their glorious assets, and money, as well as many others in history. The fallacy of, we can not go under is fundamentally ignorant. Saw on t.v. last night that the Chinese are trying to create a new yen to replace the U.S. Dollar on the world market. People who think were to big to fail, well they are just plain lost. Although it's likely none of us, our kids, and grandkids will see the collapse. But, that's my opinion.

Economically, we are allowing our nation to be emasculated by environmental special interest groups and liberal politics. We are, at the same time, enriching nations full of people who believe their surest way to Heaven is to k**l us. How insane is this?! Energy production helps everybody, and I mean everybody. We're spending our granchildren's money. Washington is ready to OK going even further into debt - a debt we already can't repay. Federal, state and local government agencies are making it ridiculously difficult and expensive to start or engage in business. Those same agencies force us to leave our natural resources unused; resources that could go a long way toward giving our grandkids back some of the money we're stealing from them. If we allow this to continue we are a nation of fools.

Yes indeed that is 100% accurate/true. They have tried to do protests about fracking up there. My son says it's kind of funny. They don't last long in the harsh elements and/or with the citizens up there. They don't like them kind as my sons say. They have strengthened the rules/laws locally, and state wide to keep the feds. happy. The EPA & the new agencies like the ones used in the small Alaska Village raid last week are a real problem. He says they try to bury any body they don't like in paperwork, and if that don't work drum up some wild charges. He says the State has a giant money surplus, and don't want the feds. money. But, they sure want the State's & Oil Company's money.

A while back, the Obama spin doctors mentioned that the Obama Administration had issued more drilling permits than Bush. Fact is, most of the permits issued had already been approved during the Bush Administration. New permit issuance under Tovarisch Obama has gone down by about 60%.

Yes your correct. I don't know much about the permit process, seismographing, pad pr********n, rig work, or drilling process, but my son tells me a lot of thought goes into it first. The drilling permits they mostly are allowed to get have been from private lands, but the good old EPA still has to be the pain in the rear. The federal land permits are the ones that are held up the worst. Saw an interview the other day with an oil consultant. He said he's seen some take 2 years for decisions. Eastern Colorado Mesa Plateau Flats are federally protected, and near impossible to obtain.
They say that area alone has more than the entire Bakken Formation in Northwest North Dakota. Like BigMike said, we have enough to blow any country out of the equation.

And Alaska. And offshore. And coal reserves. We also have the ability to install solar panels in new and existing homes and businesses to augment our power stations. If we did that we wouldn't even have to put in t***smission lines since all the wiring needed is already there. Hell, folks could even sell the surplus back to the power companies. Solar and wind will never supplant f****l f**ls on a municiple level, but on an private level they can work pretty well and in 40 or 50 years it will all be moot, because by then we will have learned to harness hydrogen and fusion both of which could replace f****l f**ls.

Yeah, your correct on that. There are so many places in this country that has viable energy pockets that it is insane not to develope them and/or use the current avenues. My ex-father in law had his own windmill power in North West North Dakota back in the 80's. Anything in excess he sold back to the power company. My ex-wife & her husband own a large farm in that part of North Dakota. They now have so many permits that they have to obtain that they said it's not worth it. My son says that getting a State permit isn't that bad, but a federal one can take one year or more. He said then all of the permits are subject to EPA review(s). Anything to raise the price of a barrel of oil.

In this particular instance I'm much more disturbed by career politicians on the Republican side. I expect the Democrats to support the President's poorly thought out plan in Syria (happily most of them ain't too pleased with it either), but the Republicans ? This is a no win for us, unless we limit the strategic value of that region by investing in resources we have here, NOW

Your right Mike. My 3 biological, and 1 foster son live, & work in North Dakota. The middle, and youngest live & work where the Bakken Formation is. The middle one does roustabout, and gas plant work. He told me there is so much oil, and natural gas just there alone that we don't really need the Middle East. Then you have Texas, Colorado, California, etc. Go figure!!!

That sounds like a tune I would have the family with around the campfire roasting marsh mellows. I'll be waiting to record it. Thank you banjojack.

Did you truly mean "pick up"? The insinuation of such could move you to the front of the line, not in a good way. :hunf:

No,no AuntiE. I didn't mean that with dis-respect. I meant that the King Obama's horses and men can't pick anything up correctly. Please forgive!!!

AuntiE is quite adept at not putting herself in a position to be picked up. However, if it became necessary, she would do so without assistance. She is quite nimble.

That I'm glad for as she has given me good advice. Unfortunately it took me awhile to comprehend it. Thanks AuntiE!!!!

Yes that is a good quality to have. Is that kinda like being optimist compared to pessimist?

That is 100% agreeable. They permitted 1 million muslims to march on Washington D.C., but tried to dis-allow 2 million Bikers to ride in support of our patriots. What a Prez. for sure. By the way, his anti-gun plot in Colorado failed, and backfired in his cronies face. 2 Senators recalled, and others put on notice. Love it.
