Corporations made record profits in 2020, during the p******c! Nearly 1/3 of the fortune 500 companies in the USA paid zero taxes last year, while they were raking in historic profits. All those rich people with those huge businesses use all of our infrastructure to make those huge profits. They drive on our roads, use our ports and airports to move merchandise and materials. Why should us private citizens have to pay for the infrastructure they use to make their billions?
Bottom line if we want to get the country back on track, we need to have enough funds coming into the government to cover the costs of government. Part of it is taxation, part of it is spending. If we cut the annual military budget by 10% we could do a hell of a lot with that $70 billion annual savings in things like infrastructure development and education reform and do some things that will make a real difference in the future.
I have no issue with paying more tax if that will help us get our house in order and save the future for our children. But it has to come from both increased taxation and reduced spending. And don't go off on a tirade against any party, the GOP has been as bad or worse than the Dems in raising the deficit over the past several decades.
Can you answer a question for me Arch?
Why did the GOP and Trump pass a tax bill that gave significant tax advantages to the wealthy and corporations and much smaller tax savings to individuals in the middle class? And why did they make those corporate reductions permanent, but the deductions for us little people are all scheduled to run out in 2025? Yep so in 2025 we all get stomped, all our old personal deductions are still gone, but the tax changes that were instigated to allow that to happen and many people to still get a smaller tax bill are wiped out. So just why did they do that Arch?
