They think Ishmael, not Issac is the heir to the land. God told Abraham that Issac wa the child of promise, and the heir, not Ishmael. There was never the promise for the land for the Arab’s.
Story starts in Genesis 16. Ishmael was promised by God to be a great Nation, but not promised the land. Israel was promised to Abraham, through Issac and his descendants. The people of Israel own that land. That is the whole problem with the conflict today in Israel.
