Boehner is proving that to be speaker, a prerequisite is to be an i***t. Boehner is unable and unwilling to control the mob of radical extremists within his party, but he is hardly the worst speaker, just the most recent.

Looking back at some other i***ts who "served" as speaker:

Pelosi was/is an i***t
Hastert was an inept i***t
Gingrich was smart, but still acted like an i***t
Foley was a stupid i***t
Wright was a corrupt, stupid i***t
Oneill may have been the last effective speaker, but that is debatable, since the country started the downward spiral with the Reagan administration.

Is it any wonder that the congress gets lower ratings with each new speaker?

Maybe the speaker should get elected by v**ers instead of party hacks.

Any ideas?

Alicia, thanks for the comments, and I am happy to explain my position. I love this country, and am proud to have served. I would have considered the army as a career, but that option became unavailable. However, the leadership training provided a springboard to success in business as a VP of sales/marketing, and all of the "perks" that entails. So I am quite happy to share my military experience with those on this forum who consider it to be a badge of honor.

Now, I work for fun, as well as a few bucks to feed my golf habit. As I stated, I like and dislike conservatives and liberals equally, depending on the issue.

BTW, I have enjoyed reading some of your posts and comments. Please continue to contibute.

This is your first post (I think.) I am so glad you've decided to join this forum. I must make one comment, though. Why is it so necessary for one to state his military background? Is it a matter of acquiring compadres? Do you not have enough confidence in yourself and your opinions/abilities to enter with only your name? I do appreciate your other accomplishments. Why not open yourself to comment from any angle? There is a lot of sensible dialogue on this forum as well as a lot of BS and emotionalism. Be ready for it.

Pelosi is just one of many who should be "retired" from congress.

Too bad citizens cannot have the right to v**e for term limits as part of a national referendum.

The problem of representative government instead of direct democracy

I think that almost everyone can agree on some of these:

1. Close the border and restrict all immigration for 5 years

2. Re-write the tax code, with more direct in-put from the tax-payer. Limit all foriegn aid and reduce the number of foriegn military bases. Reduce the corporate tax rates for companies that protect American jobs.

3. Add a national sales/t***saction tax to pay-down the interest on the National debt.

4. Restrict the power of lobbyists and special interest groups

5. Build the Keystone pipeline, but limit domestic oil and gasoline exports. Keep all resources off the international market and keep domestic energy costs low.

I have not been on this forum as long as many of you. However I know who is serious and who is not. Many of us would seem are close to the breaking point. I would like to ask a favor.

Could you post 5 things you would do to fix this country. Please do not list Impeach Obama we agree on that.

I appreciate your comments.

The house v**ed to formally sue president Obama. After watching C-Span and listening to the reasons for and against the passage of the bill, is it any wonder that the most successful program in congress is "gridlock"?

It will be interesting to see how the democrats treat the next republican president whenever he/she writes an EO that they don't like.

The current make up of posters and commenters seems to be heavily weighted on the conservative side.

Several of the more "liberal" posters appear to have vanished, or perhaps got banished.

Wh**ever happened to Brian Devon? He was very left-wing, but seemed to be polite and usually rational

Bojester was a firebrand, and created a lot of anger among the right. He seemed to be attacked almost daily for having a different point of view.

Jon Hatfield seemed to be a reasonable commenter on most subjects.

So the question is, are only right-wing comments tolerated by the administrators?

If so, the reading becomes quickly boring.

Thanks to all of those who welcomed me to this forum.

I look forward to sharing ideas and suggestions, hopefully without rancor, but that remains to be seen.

Today, I am on my way to Akron's Firestone CC, to the Bridgestone Open.
I love playing, and will enjoy following some of the greatest golfers in the world.

Some of the "experts" are predicting that Tiger, based on his past performance, will make a stunning "comeback" and post a win.

I favor Rory Mcllroy and Martin Kaymer, but will enjoy the tournament no matter who is on top after today's round.

After reading posts on this forum for several weeks, I have decided to join the fun, so to speak.

I am an army vet, member of the Pershing rifles when I was in college. Left the army due to non-service connected injury, but loved most of my time while serving as a 1st Lt.

After spending more than 2 years in the corporate jungle, I took the buy-out and started two small businesses. One is a lot of fun, the dj/entertainment business. I have met some very interesting people over the past several years.

My business covers western Pa, easteren Ohio, north WVa and western Maryland.

I consider myself to be a centrist with libertarian as well as liberal views, so given the current make-up of the majority of posters here, I probably will be attacked with my first post.

For the record, I do not fear or h**e the government, and I don't h**e Obama, although he is far from being the presidetn I thought he could be.

BTW, I am white, approaching middle age and am most assuredly upper middle class.

I prefer to engage in sensible dialogue without name-calling and personal attack.

But I can play the game whichever way it goes
