Yes I'm sure we're all much safer thanks to Trump's noble actions. Obviously any extremist theocracy, like Iran, is not a good thing but we can thank our government for the part they played in how it's come to be (I'll assume you're aware of Iran's history and US meddling in it's government- you can't really understand current events if you don't understand the historical context) If he gets back in office next year and manages to unite the world in peace and harmony I'll be the first to congratulate him for it. I just wouldn't hold my breath is all.

I've "studied up" on religion as much as I needed to, and have come to the conclusion that one's spiritual beliefs is a personal matter and ought to be left that way. As institutions they seem to do more harm than good, fostering division, resentment, intolerance, and so on. I certainly have no problem with anyone believing wh**ever they like as long as they're not imposing those beliefs on everyone else. The problems start when those beliefs conflict with our actual shared reality.

It's sad but that comes from both sides. For example I'll post a harmless comment, not insulting anyone or being partisan, and I'll get attacked and called heinous things by some rightwing nut, so it goes. Just seems that if you're embedded within that partisan mindset, everyone else is an enemy to be feared or destroyed. It's really sad.
