Verse of the Day
for Tuesday, June 6th, 2023

“Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.” -- Psalm 28:9

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Most of us are familiar with the very personal declaration about God as the great Shepherd in Psalm 23. This Psalm is a plea for God to shepherd us and carry us into His future for us. This short prayer is also a great reminder of how important it is for us to pray for God's presence in the lives of his children, wherever and whenever they are! This is one of the reasons we see the picture of heaven in the book of Revelation with those who have come out of the great tribulation holding on to this promise:

"For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their Shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes" (Revelation 7:17).

Yes! God WILL be the great Shepherd of his people, both now and forever!

My Prayer...
Eternal Father, the great "I AM," please bless me as I seek to pass on faith to my children. Bless them and their generation, and lead them in your t***h so they may pass on a vibrant and passionate faith to their children. May all of our generations find great joy in you as our Shepherd! In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Verse of the Day
for Monday, June 5th, 2023

“Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:” -- 2 Thessalonians 1:11

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Paul prays for God to be active in the lives of these new Christians in Thessalonica. He asks that God maximize the good they intend to accomplish and fully bless every good deed they do out of their commitment to their faith. What new believer needs to know that you are praying this prayer for them? Pray it for them and let them know you did! Let's also find ways to affirm and encourage other believers seeking to honor the Lord with their intentions and actions. In our divided and hyper-critical world, let's help each other know our efforts are appreciated and that we have brothers and sisters who lovingly and prayerfully support each other.

My Prayer...
Strong and mighty Father, please bless several new Christians on my heart today. Help them recognize your presence in their lives. Please maximize the good in every effort they make and every intention they have to honor you and bless your people. Protect them from the evil one. In Jesus' name, I ask for this blessing. Amen.

Verse of the Day
for Sunday, June 4th, 2023

“How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” -- Romans 10:14

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Since "calling on the name of the Lord" is essential for salvation (Acts 22:16; Romans 10:9-13), then what is going to happen if we don't speak about Jesus with those who do not know him? We must share Jesus with everyone who will listen. That "someone preaching to them" must be us — you and me! Plus, we do not want to miss out on the promise the LORD made to us us:

So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven... (Matthew 10:32 ESV).
My Prayer...
Concerned and loving Father, I know the people in my life were put there by you. Please make me bolder and more respectful in my witness to others about Jesus and his sacrifice. Please give me the wisdom to know when to speak to them about the Gospel. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Verse of the Day
for Saturday, June 3rd, 2023

For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it. -- Ecclesiastes 7:12

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
We can try to ensure our future through many things. Godly wisdom, however, is always a better investment than finances because it not only shelters us from our uncertain future but Godly wisdom can also keep us out of the unnecessary consequences of dumb and ungodly behaviors. Most of all, God's wisdom teaches us that there's no solid future without our lives centered on God. However, Godly "wisdom preserves the life of its possessor."

My Prayer...
O, Lord God, I want to be wise in your ways and innocent in the ways of evil. Forgive my foolish and sometimes rebellious behaviors. Lead me with your Spirit in the paths of t***h, justice, and righteousness. In the name of the Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Verse of the Day
for Friday, June 2nd, 2023

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ
-- 1 Peter 1:13

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Is there really such a thing as delayed gratification? Our culture sure doesn't seem to think so! We want all of our benefits, blessings, and delights now! In today's world, we don't seem to want to wait for anything! So if there were ever a verse that did NOT match the whims of our "modern" society, this would have to be it:

"Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed."

Notice that none of those phrases is found in a modern advertising slogan. All are, however, the sustaining actions of the great souls who have gone before us. We ignore them at our spiritual peril. We embrace them to follow in that great heritage of faith we see in Hebrews 11:1-40!

My Prayer...
Eternal God, please help me have the patience and faithfulness to let you fully form my character and develop the spiritual wisdom that my world lacks and that I so much need. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

T***smania

May 31, 2023

America is in a spiritual war over government-sponsored depravity, sexual g***ming, molestation, and m********n of children becoming commonplace, legal and promoted by school systems without parental knowledge. This “t***smania” is underscored by the complicity of media, government and corporations working together against children much like they conspired with the ineffective and unsafe v*****es during C***D. Already, Americans are pushing back hard, but government-corporate-media partnership targeting children continues relentlessly. In just the past month Bud Light and Target, who blatantly promoted this depravity have lost billions in market cap and are trying to recover from public disgust.

Examples of this spiritual war are found all across the country. The Epoch Times reports that the Q***r T***s Project in Florida has mailed “959 kits to recipients in every state except North Dakota, South Dakota, Alaska, Vermont, and Montana. The group hopes to double that amount this year.” Most recipients are youth, according the director of the group. It’s against the law in Florida, but the director doesn’t care, saying they will fight for their rights in court. In Ohio, Parents Defending Education, a national non-profit aimed at reclaiming schools from activists promoting harmful agendas, has filed a federal lawsuit against a Columbus-area school district for violating the free speech rights of students with its “T*********r Guidelines.”

Parents Defending Education is suing the Olentangy Local School District Board of Education alleging that “District policies violate students’ First Amendment rights by chilling students’ speech rights, compelling students to affirm beliefs about sex and g****r that are contrary to their own deeply held beliefs, and violating parents’ Fourteenth Amendment rights through the district’s efforts to restrict speech off school grounds and in families’ homes.” On May 17, some 200 parents and pastors in Frederick County, Maryland rallied at the school system’s offices against the existing t*********r policies, which are similar to those in Ohio. No press coverage of the event or the reasonable policy presented as an alternative.

The American pastime of baseball also has been tarnished by t***smania. Celebrating the L***Q+++ “P***e Day,” which also targets children, the Los Angeles Dodgers invited the blasphemous t***s-q***r group Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to perform. In response, the Catholic advocacy organization CatholicV**e announced a million dollar ad campaign calling for a boycott of the Dodgers. Boycotts reportedly already have cost Bud Light $18 billion and Target $9 billion in lost market cap and sales. This spiritual war is raging. As in Ephesians 6:12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against power, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” This whole “t***smania“ is far, far worse and darker than, say it with me…Stupidocrisy.

Verse of the Day
for Tuesday, May 30th, 2023

Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, And for his wonderful works to the children of men!
-- Psalm 107:31

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
I'm not sure I can fully comprehend "unfailing love." To always do the loving thing, whether discipline or reward, fun or pain, I'm not sure I can fully understand that kind of love. I know I am not yet able to love fully like Jesus. But I can tell you this: I am eternally grateful for Jesus, who fully demonstrated it. It should not be hard for us to give thanks for such a loving LORD and our Savior.

My Prayer...
Thank you, Almighty God, for revealing yourself as Abba Father! Thank you for loving me so much that you give me what I need, not what I want or deserve! Thank you for the many kindnesses you have lavished upon me and the loving deeds you have done for me. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Verse of the Day
for Monday, May 29th, 2023

And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place, for a memorial before the LORD continually.
-- Exodus 28:29

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Symbolically, the High Priest had all the people of Israel "on his heart" when he entered the Holy Place. Jesus, our ultimate Priest, had our sins on his back and our forgiveness on his heart when he went to the Cross for us! Jesus is God's Savior for the whole world and our Priest who made the once-for-all-time sacrifice for our sins to bring us to God (Hebrews 7:23-27, 9:24-28, 10:8-10).

My Prayer...
Tender Shepherd, I know you love me because of the great price you paid to redeem me from my sins. Thank you for having me in your heart despite my sometimes rebellious and unfaithful ways. Thank you for your sacrifice. I pray in your name, Jesus, the once-for-all sacrifice for my sins. Amen.

Verse of the Day
for Sunday, May 28th, 2023

I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles -- Isaiah 42:6

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
God chose the Israelites to be his special nation. This wasn't because they were better or brighter than other nations. No, God chose them because of his love for Abraham so he could bless all nations of the earth through his chosen people with the Messiah, the Savior of the world. We know this Messiah. His name is Jesus, the light of the world!

My Prayer...
Father, I know you have blessed me with your salvation because of your great mercy, grace, and kindness. Please empower me as I commit to sharing your great blessings with others. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
