Reagan was a decent man? And Ike is admired although he allowed the Dulles boys, as head of State and the CIA, to do murderous mischief around the world?
Let's look at the body count.
The Dulles boys o*******w the secular, democratically elected government of Iran and install the Shah in his place, leading to more than 25 years of murderous rule by the Shah. Parents weren't tortured physically, they were just forced to watch as their children's arms were amputated without anesthesia while CIA officials looked on. Thousands more were just outright murdered in the name of keeping the Shah driving Ferraris, eating the finest caviar and stashing billions away in Switzerland.
The Dulles boys also o*******w the democratically elected government of Guatemala where the military dictatorship installed by the Dulles boys when on a 30-year murderous rampage financed and armed by United Fruit (now Dole) and the US, until Jimmy Carter cut of all aid because of the genocide the military was committing against Guatemalan Indians, body count conservatively estimated at 300,000.
And lets not forget the CIA/MIF/Belgium security forces kidnapping and murder of Patrice Lumumba, the front runner in the Democratic Republic of the Congo's e******n and installation of Mubutu Seke who ruled for the next 35 years until run out of the country after k*****g and estimated 1.5 million.
All that in just two years early on in Eisenhower's first term. To his credit, Eisenhower did sit on the Dulles Boys after 1956-57. John died late in Eisenhower's second term, Allen remained at the company until 1960.
Ronald Wilson "deficits don't matter" Reagan started by selling arms to Iran in contravention of US and International Laws, using the money gained from those sales to finance the cocaine cowboys named the Contras, who Reagan aliened to our own founding Fathers, except for the cocaine smuggling and k*****g an estimated 50,000 Nicaraguan civilians.
The CIA also mined one of Nicaragua's harbor- again breaking US and International laws, k*****g four West German sailors who were, like every other nation except the US, still carrying on trade with the democratically elected government of Nicaragua, the first after the o*******w of former US-backed dictator Anistasio Somoza (As FDR said: he's Sob, butte's our SOB.")
Or back to Guatemala where Reagan re-armed the military dictatorship, k*****g an estimate 100,000 (a conservative figure-most buried in mass graves and never identified-hey they were just Indian peasants, right?) of the total body count of 300,000, (again, low-balled figure as no records exist-just the claims of widows and orphans. although women and children were also k**led en mass. )
And now the Republicans and their running mate, Fox "News", are trying to blame the effects of the US pullout-signed in a Status of Forces Agreement by George W. Bush to end the first 'pre-emptive' war in US history that he started five years earlier. What was Obama thinking when he followed the terms of the agreement signed by Bush?
Everybody knew the nation was going to decent into sectarian forces after the brutal dictatorship of Saddam Hussein was o*******wn in 2003? And usb only signed the SOF agreement because the new iraqi government, installed by the Bush administration, wanted to try US troops in Iraqi courts on civil or criminal charges filed only by the Iraqi government.
That little fact will be in force should any US pilots get shot down and captured by any side in that conflict (except possibly the Kurds who government themselves in an autonomous region in northern Iraq rather well under the no-fly son George HW Bush had put in place after the first Iraqi War.)
Kennedy had a body count-his failure to back the last little military misadventure by Allen Dulles in the Bay of Pigs and his o*******w of the Diem government in South Vietnam.
And LBJ and Nixon k**led millions of Vietnamese and tens of thousands of US troops in a war that was a lethal circus from Day One. Hey, it was a s**tty little war, but as one US Army officer said: "it's the only one we've got." Saw that one up close and personal. Few below the rank of captain saw what a circus it was within 30 days of arrival and held that opinion unit DEROS, death or m********n.
I figure we've finally have a president who is reticent in committing ground troops unless all other options have been discounted. And yet he's still trying to create mischief buy k*****g people by remote control. Just another member of the Bush Crime Family.
And yet we have Republicans in congress, and a few democrats, who are yammering that "we have to do SOMETHING" to undo the cluster**k we started 11 years ago. and yammering about 'what are the Saudi's thinking", yes the same Saudi's who were early contributors to coffers of the ISIS insurgents in Iraq? Or "what is Israel going to do" the same israel that refused to take our advice but is quick to take the $3 billion-plus in aid we give it each year?
When we gonna learn that the United States can't police the world? Britain, France and Germany are a whole lot closer to Iraq than we are, and the first two are complicit in drawing the borders of Iraq. Let them handle it. Or, better yet, let Israel and the House of Saud handle it. The first is the best friend money can buy and the second is the worst friend that we've been allied with since Ibin Saud set up is little feudal kingdom way back when.
Insanity is dong the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. We've been pushing countries around since the early 1950s (and before) and expecting different outcomes. We're consistently surprised when murderous dictatorships and general mayhem arise from our last foreign military misadventure.
Not one more drop of American blood, even if blood isn't thicker than oil.

personally i think Reagan himself was probably a decent man. Perhaps willfully blind to the harm some of his policies caused, but not a sadist. (Ketchup considered a vegatable in school lunches? An illegal terrorist army funded by cocaine smuggling?)I think the biggest problem with Reagan's admin was that he was so much under the thumb of trily evil men like Henry Kissinger, Ed Meese, Rumsfeld, etc. who was ths AG of his that got convicted of several felonies? really bad guys. Eisenhower-, much as i admire him, had the same problem. really decent honest guy , but he let scum like the Dulles brothers lead him around.
Let them talk him into o*******wing the legitimate, elected governments of several S Am. states. Why? because Governments that tried to serve their people instead of US corporations would cost the Dulles bros and their clients money.
This is the biggest problem with reoublican pols in general, and probably at least some Dem pols. They cannot or will not draw a distinction between what is good for THEIR PROFITS and what is good for the USA.
