As I have said several times in the past, reasonable people can disagree. I find Col MacGregor both knowledgable and credible. Personally I don't see Zelensky making it 60 days, but let's go with MacGregor's statement. I will not bet with you, but I have marked my calendar. On June 30, if Zelensky is still alive and President of Ukraine, I will acknowledge you publically as being RIGHT, and myself as being completely in the WRONG. May the best man win!

The Speaker of the House is one of the most powerful figures in American politics and is ultimately responsible for helping the party get its legislation enacted. If he is unable to do so, he does not belong in the position, and let someone else assume that role.

I have written many posts on Mike Johnson's failures as House Speaker. Here is a list of some of those failures:

Let's take a quick look at what Mike Johnson has done (or rather hasn't done) since he become Speaker of the House in October of 2023:

1. In November 2023, after Congress passed a two-step CR with Jan. 19 and Feb. 2 appropriations deadlines, speaker Johnson stated, “I’m done with short term CRs”. On January 19, the GOP-led House passed a continuing resolution (CR) to extend current federal funding levels to avoid a government shutdown, despite House Speaker Johnson having previously vowed not to pursue any more temporary spending bills.

Congress has passed four continuing resolutions since the new fiscal year began to avert a government shutdown amid an inability of the Senate and House of Representatives to agree on the contents of 12 permanent appropriations bills for the year. Leaders of both party caucuses in both houses announced a deal on Feb. 28 to pass two consolidated bills, known as “minibus” bills, comprising six appropriations bills each. MY COMMENT: Johnson is so afraid of a partial government shutdown and being perceived as the one responsible if it happened. Partially shut it down until the House Members get their act together and do the job they were elected to do. That should be easy to explain to the public!

2. The Southern border remains wide open because Johnson has refused to use his leverage as House Speaker and use the power of the purse to stop the illegal flow of migrants across our border. MY COMMENT: Johnson caved and failed to stand firm and force Biden to either restore Trumps executive orders regarding the border, or enact most or all of the reforms passed by the House in H.R.2 - Secure the Border Act of 2023. You don't fix the border, you don't fund the government! Simple, but it takes courage and principles which Johnson lacks!

3. Legislation to reform FISA Section 702 and stop the FBI’s warrantless spying on innocent Americans was blocked by Johnson. The competing bills would have imposed the requirement for the government to get a warrant (as specified in the 4th amendment of the US Constitution) before spying on American citizens.

4. The CBO estimates that the Federal Budget deficit will increase by $1.6 Trillion for fiscal 2024

5. Politico is reporting that "Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK), Johnson’s handpicked choice to take over the House Appropriations Committee after Rep. Kay Granger’s (R-TX) resignation in March, wants to “unlock the possibility of more earmarks”, despite the fact that House Republicans banned the practice of earmarking in 2011 after the Republican Tea Party takeover. Why? Because "earmarks give leadership a powerful tool to coerce skeptical lawmakers to endorse massive multi-trillion dollar spending packages. Lawmakers are incentivized to look the other way and disregard the fiscal responsibility planks of their campaign platforms when their districts get a cut of the l**t."

Meanwhile all our billions have disappeared in into nothingness...

Exactly so. As Col MacGregor stated, it took the British empire 50 years to self destruct. The US is doing it in less than 30. The Washington elites don't send their sons and daughters to fight our foreign wars, all they care about is keeping the dollars flowing to the defense contractors, which benefits their stock portfolio's, and funding corrupt regimes like Ukraine, which in turn kicks back money into the hands of the Washington elites.

"In only six months as Speaker, Johnson rammed through a multi-trillion dollar two-part ominbus spending bill that funded almost all Biden’s priorities, flip-flopped to k**l a requirement for intelligence agencies to obtain a warrant before surveilling Americans, and – perhaps most painful for conservatives – surrendered on a months-long pledge never to move foreign aid before taking action on border security.

Ensuring the Foreign Surveillance Act passed without a warrant requirement and gifting tens of billions in aid to Ukraine were perhaps Biden’s greatest priorities of the second half of his term. Johnson delivered Biden his desired outcome on both the warrant requirement – in which Johnson was the deciding v**e – and Ukraine funding over the objections of a majority of his own party.

Even before Johnson caved on Ukraine funding, Republicans have openly speculated about what deal Johnson could have made with Democrats to save his speakership from Republicans increasingly frustrated with his advancement of a Democrat agenda."

MY COMMENT: With friends like this, who needs enemies???

Cliff Notes version of this Federalist article: https://thefederalist.com/2024/04/26/conservatisms-three-legged-stool-has-no-legs-left/

These are the 3 elements of Conservatism 1) Fiscal restraint, 2) “limited government”, and 3)“free markets”. The Republican coalition for decades was built on the “three-legged stool” of these principals.

How have Republicans followed through on these principals?

"Consider the three legs of the stool. On fiscal conservatism, we’re swimming in an ocean of debt that grows no matter which party controls Congress, while inflation is k*****g middle- and working-class families. On traditional values, we legalized gay marriage and then quickly moved on to normalizing t*********rism and acquiescing to so-called “g****r-affirming care,” even for minors. On peace-through-strength foreign policy, we lost the War on Terror and are now funding multiple wars all over the world as part of a crumbling global imperium. The stool has no legs left.

As for limited government, we saw how much the GOP cared about the former during C***d, and even recently when it refused to do anything about our intelligence agencies routinely spying on us and censoring disfavored speech online. And free markets, although fine in theory, have in practice served as a permission slip for massive corporations to hollow out America’s industrial base and ship jobs overseas, enriching the upper and managerial classes while everyone else struggles."

Republicans "failed to conserve anything, it has also turned out to be a shell game. Republicans would raise money on promises to repeal Obamacare or restrict a******n or secure the border, but never follow through once in power. They would rail against fiscal profligacy but always end up passing massive budgets with no real reforms or cuts. Thank you Mike JohnsonA strong foreign policy now looks more like a corporate welfare program for Pentagon contractors in a world that’s anything but peaceful." Thank you again, Mike Johnson

SO WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?

"the plain reality that we are in a life-or-death struggle against the left, and the left is playing by a different set of rules. If the right agrees as a matter of principle that it will not wield government power to achieve its preferred outcomes, but the left vows to use the government whenever and however it can, then the left is going to win every time. And that is exactly what has happened. Think weaponized lawfare, FBI and intelligence agencies spying, deep state bureaucracy and policies. ...

...we have to stop thinking of ourselves as conservatives and start thinking of ourselves, and our movement, as restorationist and counterrevolutionary. In a very real sense, we have to re-found our country, and to do that we will have to seize power from the left — and use it."

Tulsi Gabbard on How to Save America from Washington Elites

Former Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard was a rising star in the Democratic Party until she questioned the positions and policies of the Washington elites. In 2022, she left the party and is now sounding the alarm that unless America stops its descent into leftism, it will be lost forever. In a candid discussion, PragerU CEO Marissa Streit asks Tulsi why she left the left, where she gets her courage and ability to think freely, and how we can save our country.
Tulsi Gabbard on How to Save America from Washingt... (show quote)

As an FYI for all those interested, here is the book that Gabbard has just written, and what it is all about!

"In this book, I share stories of growing up in Hawaii, events that shaped my worldview, my time in Congress, and what I saw behind the curtain of the Democratic National Committee.

Most importantly, I share what ultimately led me to leave the Democrat Party behind. It’s why I’m urging other independent-minded Democrats who love our country and cherish peace and freedom to do the same and join this fight to save our country.

I’ll be honest — this book wasn’t easy to write. We live in troubled times. Our nation is divided. Our leaders are failing us. Our country’s future can sometimes feel bleak.

Sometimes I wish I could just tune out all the noise and go out for a long surf at my favorite break.

But there is too much at stake in this moment for patriots like you and me to put on blinders and stand on the sidelines.

I took an oath to defend our country and our freedoms. I can’t sit idly by while the elite in Washington erode our Constitutional rights, jeopardize our national security, enable wide open borders, and stoke the flames of identity politics and division even further.

I wrote this book not just to share my story, but to serve as a wakeup call for what’s truly going on in our great Republic… and what we as patriotic, God-loving Americans can and must do to save her.

If we fail to act, it may be too late. Our future and freedom are in our hands… and I have never been more optimistic of our ability to rise up and do what must be done to save our country."

"Not only did the “Foreign Aid” package do nothing to secure our own border it included $3.5 Billion to supercharge mass migration from the Middle East."
— Eric Schmitt (@Eric_Schmitt) April 24, 2024

And as Breitbart points out, the $95 billion package does not include any funds to help rebuild America's border defenses against illegal migration - but it does contain $481 million to settle migrants in US cities, and of course, the $3.5 billion to expand migration programs worldwide.

The $3.5 billion was granted to the Department of State, which works with many international groups that feed and t***sport migrants on their way to the United States.

Biden’s deputies are now using the refugee programs as an adjunct to their diversity-expanding “equity” migration policy. For example, Biden’s deputies used the program in March to import 3,009 migrants from the safe and democratic countries of El Salvador and Guatemala.

They are also using the refugee funds to expand migration routes from many African and Muslim countries. In March, they pulled in 12,018 people from the Congo, plus 16,732 migrants from the Muslim countries of Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan, Iraq, and Eritrea, according to a report by Stacker.com. -Breitbart

Tucked into the folds of the new foreign aid package is $3.5 billion for mass immigration NGOs.

America Last Republicans v**ed to supercharge mass immigration while approving ZERO $$ for the U.S. border.
— Theo Wold (@RealTheoWold) April 25, 2024

According to an April 23 release from the Biden DHS visa-granting agency, "The Biden-Harris administration set the refugee admissions ceiling for fiscal year 2024 at 125,000 refugees," adding "With the opening of the Doha Field Office on May 7, 2024, and the Ankara Field Office on May 9, 2024, USCIS will have 11 international field offices. Other international field offices include Beijing; Guangzhou, China; Guatemala City; Havana; Mexico City; Nairobi, Kenya; New Delhi; San Salvador, El Salvador; and Tegucigalpa, Honduras."

So - we have the US government encouraging migration, both legal and illegal - which hurts low-income Americans the most, while neglecting to the borders. Seems we've learned nothing from Europe.

MY COMMENT: Meanwhile, brain-dead Democrats believe the lies and propaganda that the "I*****l M*****t" problem is being caused by former President Trump, because he "wants to use this as a campaign issue", and scuttled the obnoxious Senate bill that would have exacerbated the problem.

I need to find out why the border security needs 2/3 v**es to pass while the other was a simple majority to pass. What was the reason for that? I must know the reasons for that, why it happened.

About border security. Mr. Biden must own all of the problems he created as a result of these unprecedented massive invasions of almost 12 million people for a very short period of time. This was done on PURPOSE! This is TREASON! Biden is a T*****R!

The job of the Executive is to execute laws passed by Congress. Biden overrides the other 2 powers of government.

We have current i*********n l*ws at the books, which Biden refused to enforce, instead he violated them. Everything happening how these 12 million to 15 million illegal invaders were allowed to come in. This is gross violation of the Constitution, and Biden must urgently stop because it violates our national security. Now it is happening.

I can't stand this anymore. Biden is an enemy, a t*****r, and a c*******t who now has rapidly destroyed this country. Anybody supporting him are t*****rs as well.

In addition, Biden has massively spent so much money to carry on his destructions. Without appropriations. He prints and prints money to use for his destructions. And now our National Debts have gone up to the roof that are unsustainable.

He depleted the ability of our National Defense system using that stupid DEI, CRT, and WOKE. How dumb! Our Defense system is used to win the war and protect our country.

Now we are bankrupt, invaded by millions of terrorists, and c*******ts now spitting right on our faces, burning our f**g, as they shout, "Death to America". While Biden still wondering around proudly having dinner spending taxes to feed his mouth as a tried to influence and enhance his political ambitions.

America, we are in a National Crisis right now! Biden must be impeached along with that giggling stupid VP. These 2 i***ts sitting at the WH, how in this world got them there?

Right now, there is no one who could lead Congress. GOP are mostly rhinos, must think that nothing could be done unless they unite and prioritize solutions of our problems.

Right now, the 2 most important priorities that must be addressed are:
1. Illegal invasions.
2. Massive Spending.
3. Dumbing kids in Public Schools. These kids are the future to carry on after we are all gone! But now they are mostly dumb!

I am so upset with what are happening! I think the Deep State is the power behind all these.

I too am very upset with what is going on in Washington. US Taxpayer dollars are being directed to the NGO's that are facilitating our own demise. Take a look at this article, and see what was slipped into the "Ukraine Aid" package! Did anyone read the bill? Why do our elected leaders cut our own throat with such funding fiascos?

We could not have funded Israel. Biden wants Israel to get lost. He is now supporting Iran and Hamas. And I think the t*****r Joe Biden replaced the Taiwan funding to go to Hamas.

Biden is a t*****r. He is very dangerous right now. If we could not get him out ASAP, our country will certainly be a complete Marxist system.

The reasons why Biden is trying all he can to defeat Trump. He suspects that once Trump wins, he might be locked up since he knows what he is doing are mostly crimes against this country and the people. To prevent that, he wants to continue the power.

The point I was trying to make is that Johnson put forward the Ukranian aid bill that was opposed by the majority of House Republicans, while at the same time, ignoring the most serious problem of all, our border crisis. As House Speaker, he should have refused to advance this foreign aid bill (which adds to our National Debt) until Biden fixed the problem that he created!

NOTE: Isn't it ironic that the "Secure the Border Bill" DID NOT pass, because it was "moved under a different process", which required a 2/3 majority in order to pass. Do you think that Johnson does not know how to count v**es and realize that without the support of virtually ALL Democrats, there was NO CHANCE of that bill being approved?
