Four old-timers were playing

Four old-timers were playing their weekly game of golf when one one of them commented on how nice it would be to wake up on Christmas morning, roll out of bed - and without an argument, go directly to the golf course to meet his buddies for 18 holes. All three of his friends unanimously agree, "Let's do it! We'll make it a priority, figure out a way and meet here early Christmas morning!"
A few weeks later it's Christmas morning - and there all are standing next to each other on the first tee box. One friend exclaims "Boy this game cost me a fortune! I had to buy my wife such a huge diamond ring, she can't even take her eyes off it." Another friend says, "I spent a ton, too. My wife is at home planning the cruise I gave her. She was up to her eyeballs in brochures." The third friend replies "Well, my wife is at home admiring her new car... reading the manual." Silence from the fourth guy...
The other three friends in the group look puzzled, while the final guy in the foursome is staring at them like they must have lost their minds. "I can't believe you all went to such and expense for a round of golf. I just woke up, slapped her on the butt and said, 'Well babe, Merry Christmas! Golf or sex, what's it gonna be?" and she said "Take a sweater."

Electric vehicles motors are off when vehicle is stopped, so the only power drain are lights and environmental controls and can run all day on a single charge. Try this to avoid looking silly - research electric vehicles.

Yep. Make it easy on yourself. No heater, no air conditioning, Just sit and roast or freeze your butt. Don't turn on the lights or radio either.
Simply stated. The whole thing is stupid. A gasoline powered car takes the energy produced by the combustion process and sends it to the drive wheels, having energy losses in the t***smission, differential and that is about it.
Now start figuring the total losses from the heat source in a generating plant to the drive wheels of your electric toy. If you can. I doubt it. Everything in the line, is an energy loss including even the wire carrying the juice, t***sformers, battery chargers even the battery itself and the electric motor. There ain't no free lunch.

The Biggest S**m The World Has Ever Seen?

Has anyone thought about this?

If all cars were electric ... and were caught up in a three-hour traffic jam... dead batteries! Then what?

Not to mention, that there is virtually no heating in an electric vehicle, i.e. high battery consumption.

And if you get stuck on the road all night, no battery, no heating, no windshield wipers, no radio, no GPS (all these drain the batteries) !!!

You can try calling 911 to bring women and children to safety!

But they cannot come to help you since all roads are blocked and they will probably require all police cars to be electric also (if we still have police departments then) !!!

And when the roads become unblocked no one can move! Their batteries are dead.

How do you charge the thousands of cars in the traffic jam? (That is a business I think I’d like to look into. Drones to deliver heavy batteries and someone to remove and install. In most cases this could take days for each car.)

Same problem during summer vacation departures with miles of traffic jams.

There would be virtually NO air conditioning in an electric vehicle. It would drain your batteries quickly.
Where is this electricity going to come from? Today's grid barely handles our needs. Can't use nuclear, natural gas is quickly running out. Oil fired is out of the question, then where?

No reporter talks about this of course!

You can’t even call in horses to rescue you.

Custom Harley Davison Motorcycles Being Handed Out to Employees

BY
MATTHEW HOLLOWAY
AUGUST 1, 2021
Harley
Ten employees have given 15 years of service to the PB&J Restaurant group in Kansas City, Missouri. They have earned the distinction of 15 anniversaries with the company and rode off on July 4th on their brand-spankin’ new Harley Davidson motorcycles courtesy of the CEO. Now THAT is an employee loyalty program, business owners everywhere (our’s included) should take notice!

NBC41 KSHB spoke to the CEO and two employees: Michael Hampton and Walter Mansfield.

“Fifteen years is a long time, and instead of a check or watch or something, this Harley is like the coolest thing you can get,” said Paul Khoury, chief executive officer of PB&J Restaurant Group.

When so many companies due to C***D19 panic and shutdown orders shuttered their doors and sent employees home Michael Hampton told KSHB it was an easy decision to stick with PB&J. “I wanted to help however I could, so if that meant going on and putting on masks and gloves and running food out to people’s car, it was just the way we had to do it for a while,” Hampton said.

Mansfield’s story was similar, “During the p******c, it was difficult,” he said. “We would help with the carry-out portion because they were still doing the to-go food. So it was interesting going in there, packing up the to-go food with a mask on all that other stuff.”

Handing Out Harley Keys
According to The Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Khoury said,

“the idea of the giveaway was a complete accident. It all started years ago when one of PB&J’s first employees asked what he would get if he worked there for a year, five, or ten years. Khoury’s answer was always more vacation days. When the employee asked what he would get if he was still there at 15 years, an exasperated Khoury asked him what he wanted, and he said a motorcycle. Thus, the idea was born to give employees motorcycles after 15 years. So, every year Khoury closes all the restaurants and the team members and their families meet in Kansas City, to celebrate the Fourth of July and hold the awards ceremony for the Harley giveaway. With the 10 Harleys presented this year, Khoury will have presented 92 sets of keys since the start of the company.”

The fact that Khoury and PB&J have been able to build such loyalty in a Restaurant management company is to have Ninety-two employees hit the 15-year mark and ride away into the sunset atop their very own Harley is a testament to how companies can build loyalty and a sense of family and belonging. And what a better symbol of that than the ultimate expression of brotherhood. Even during a media-fueled p******c panic that crippled so many businesses, this proves the old adage correct: Employees don’t quit businesses, they quit their management, and they stay for the same reason.

Great post! That doesn’t seem so long ago.

I could go for hours about this subject. kerosene lamp anyone? My first 4 years in elementary school were without electricity or running water or bathrooms in the house. All studying was done before dark. When it got dark, it was bedtime. zero lights in the house since the kerosene lamp was a fire hazard.
We never got a chance to worry about plastic or paper since everything we ate was raised on the farm. Wheat and corn were bartered for flour and cornmeal. There was a battery powered radio in the house. We kids couldn't touch it since it was for news and "One Man's Family" on Sunday afternoon.
