This is a throw away question that is both obvious and yet needs to be answered to start as follows:

Ronald Reagan was a terrible president who the Republicans have all but disowned and who never would get anywhere in the current GOP Trump dominated atmosphere. So let’s not talk about the great communicator who left the usual massive Republican debt with tax cuts he never paid for.


Can you imagine a time when the President looked this young, was so bright, so effective and made everyone money but still was h**ed by the Republicans for his success?

But this is not about Reagan and there is a clear winner of the best and it is BILL CLINTON.

I am confounded that Republicans didn’t like Clinton and impeached him for doing far less than Gingrich and the rest of them including Hastert were doing because;
CLINTON IS THE BEST REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT SINCE TEDDY ROOSEVELT.
Why?

Everybody had a job, everybody made money.
He balanced the budget left a surplus!
He sorted out all kinds of international crises with hardly a ripple but a lot of show of force.
The internet and http://dot.com booms happened on his watch and he fostered the growth.
He tried but failed to get health care and while it cost him in 1994, he still persevered winning again in 1996 and left with massive approval ratings.
How could he be so popular?

Because he was fantastic if you like Republican lite.
But he was not the friend of the working man, with NAFTA, he was a corporate Democrat.

Still if you look at American capitalism at is pinnacle, it is Clinton at the top. No era had as its most popular song, DON’T WORRY BE HAPPY as one of its anthems.

Everyone else? Not even close, they were not liked as much, or started crazy ruinous wars like both Bush’s, or racial identity politics like Obama, or they didn’t get the economy like the elder Bush or the younger both of whom didn’t have a clue.

Or like Trump who just didn’t give a damn about anything except himself. Bill Clinton hands down and even if McConnell had cooperated, Obama would not have been as good, or if Trump had paid attention or if the Bush tandem hadn’t started any wars or let the economy go to hell.

Why is that? Because Clinton cared, he paid attention, he tweaked the economy all the time. He was a policy wonk while also being a people person.

And Republicans h**ed him because he was just too damn good and they couldn’t stand it.

The phrases White Nationalist and White Supremecist will soon be banned due to their highly r****t and bigoted connotations as well as promoting misconceptions about the entire White race. The Commission on what words should be omitted from the English language will add these words to the N word as offensive and those caught spouting these offensive phrases will be hit with harsh fines and penalties and could even lose their v****g rights, passports and American citizenship or even Mexican citizenship.

Republican efforts to restrict v****g across the US are posing an existential threat to democracy in the US, over 100 scholars of democracy warned in a new statement released by the New America think tank on Tuesday.

"We, the undersigned, are scholars of democracy who have watched the recent deterioration of US e******ns and liberal democracy with growing alarm," the statement said. "Specifically, we have watched with deep concern as Republican-led state legislatures across the country have in recent months proposed or implemented what we consider radical changes to core e*******l procedures in response to unproven and intentionally destructive allegations of a s****n e******n."

The scholars said that the GOP-led initiatives "are t***sforming several states into political systems that no longer meet the minimum conditions for free and f**r e******ns."

"Our entire democracy is now at risk," the scholars said. "History will judge what we do at this moment."

The professors, deans, and other scholars who signed the statement come from a range of universities and institutions across the US, including Harvard, Princeton, Cornell, Duke, and Stanford.

Over the past few years, and particularly since the fatal i**********n at the US Capitol on J****** 6, top scholars have repeatedly said that the GOP has morphed into a fundamentally antidemocratic party determined to win e******ns by any means.

Republican efforts to whitewash the events of J****** 6 and shield former President Donald Trump from blame for the r**t have increased alarm in this regard. Trump provoked the deadly i**********n and was impeached as a result, but Republican leaders have continued to kowtow to the former president.

Top Republicans across the US have refused to accept the results of the 2020 e******n, perpetuating the false notion that President Joe Biden did not legitimately win. There's no evidence of widespread v***r f***d in the 2020 p**********l e******n, and v***r f***d is extraordinarily rare in the US more generally.

Meanwhile, Republican-led legislatures nationwide have taken steps to make it harder to v**e. At least 14 states enacted 22 new laws that restrict access to the v**e between January 1 and mid-May, a tracker from Brennan Center for Justice showed.

There are no open borders. Can't figure out why so many people are in custody trying to cross the border? Obviously, if it was open.........no one would be in custody.

Last week, 35 Senate Republicans k**led a bipartisan effort to create an independent commission to investigate the J*** 6 i**********n at the U.S. Capitol ― arguably the greatest attack on American democracy since the Civil War.

A week earlier, 175 House Republicans opposed creating the commission, too.

Why would any U.S. senator or member of Congress oppose an independent commission to investigate what led to a deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol ― one aimed squarely at undermining American democracy and the peaceful t******r of p***r?

The reasons are as cynical as they are obvious: Most of these Republicans lied about the p**********l e******n being stolen from Donald Trump. That lie helped motivate a w***e s*********t mob of Trump’s supporters to smash their way into the Capitol ― some with plans to k**l House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Vice President Mike Pence and others ― to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s e*******l win. Republicans don’t want a respected panel of experts publicly connecting these dots heading into the 2022 e******ns.

They also don’t want to get on Trump’s bad side by supporting a commission that would show, in detail, how his lie incited an attack on democracy that left five people dead, hundreds of police officers injured and countless others traumatized.

It gets uglier. Their party is counting on people to keep believing the lie. GOP-led state legislatures all over the country are using the lie to justify quickly passing bills to significantly restrict v****g in ways that would disproportionately hurt communities of color. Just this year, state lawmakers have already introduced at least 389 restrictive bills in 49 states and passed 22 restrictive laws in 14 states.

It’s no coincidence that the four states where Republicans have filed the most bills aimed at restricting v****g — Georgia, Arizona, Michigan and Pennsylvania — were some of the closest states in the 2020 p**********l e******n. As FiveThirtyEight notes, all four of those states went for Biden and have GOP-controlled legislatures, which makes them especially ripe for new v****g restrictions.

It’s also no coincidence that of the 147 House and Senate Republicans who v**ed in January to overturn the e******n, 139 of them also just v**ed to stop an independent commission from investigating the i**********n. It’s all connected. They attacked democracy in January and capped it off last week with a second attack on democracy, all in plain sight and with the intention of preserving the lie.

Here are the names of all 139 Republicans in Congress who sided with Trump and his lie instead of protecting American democracy. Twice.
