Belief is fine. It is how you use it that is at question. A brief Bible quote or introductory idea is fine, in a secular or political discussion. But it should relate or tie in with the topic under discussion. I sometimes quote a scripture to call out a person overly proud of his/her Christionhood when they have shown a surprisingly non Christian attitude or belief. It is a fact that atheists on average score better on tests of Bible knowlege and general religious knowledge than any other group, even fundamentalist Christians!
Sometimes a familiar Bible quote communicates a host of ideas succinctly. Some of the Bible's poetry is nice, too.

I don't particularly mind talking about religion or atheism but prefer to keep my conversations on topic and not switch topics with each and every brain fart, Christian or secular.

i only talk about what i believe is relevant to the comments, i'm not one of those people that will rant or try to condemn anyone, that's not what being a christian is about, there's plenty of times i'll not even bring it up but my beliefs in the lord are strong are deep rooted but when i do i try to make a point that it is my belief, i do not believe that an atheist as in one that does not believe in scripture would be so knowledgable about the bible, that goes against their beliefs

Ban Evolutionary Theory from political discussion, for it led to the secular belief in Social Darwinism. The humanist and C*******t Manifestos, although seemingly political in nature, are really faith-based in nature: Ban those for the same reason religion is disallowed to speak in a free country. Not just un-American but totally bizarre to look to silence all religious voices in what concerns all religions: How we are to live in the world!

and something else you remind of in gods words, live in the world not of the world

For those like warm, they need to hear what's going on, and get there spiritual house in order. We are following gods, word of the great commission, against those that would have us silenced.

There are those that Truly Believe that due to our Creator God, Government is, as well as all things are- for that matter. It isn't a choice that we believe that, it is truly how we are wired, it is how we are. To get us to stop you would have to resort to persecuting us like they do overseas.
The difference between you and me: I want all to have an 'informed' choice about believing in God, or not. Under the God I worship, that is my job. You, just wish we would go away, no matter how, because there is no choice for us to shut up. You will never hear the Spirit of God whine.

You should hit 'quote reply' ...otherwise we're not sure who you are talking to....I think the original post was suggesting that when we're discussing a topic, it's kind of annoying to bring religious beliefs in..it seems to happen on every thread...it doesn't bother me so much, but it is kind of annoying

i don't consider what our founders used and even prayed on the battlefield as nonsense, only an atheist would say such nonsense. this country was founded on judeo christianity and if it was good enough with them it's good enough for me. the country is in an ever quickening downward spiral ever since the current administration has been trying to replace for so long with it's socialistic govt. controlled ways taking god out every chance they get. the way i see it any one that doesn't want to include god's word just supports atheism and the current regime and i don't want any part of that
