Europe: Making Totalitarianism Great Again

The European Union has programs in place that seek heavily to influence mainstream news outlets and journalists with its own agendas -- such as that of continued mass-migration into Europe from Africa and the Middle East. For this purpose, the European Commission recently funded the publication of a handbook with guidelines for journalists on how to write about migrants and migration.

It is seemingly in the interest of these media representatives to label competition from alternative or new media, "f**e news".

A proposed French law would allow authorities to block websites during e******n seasons, a draconian measure to combat political opponents, which would place France in the same category as countries such as China and Iran that block websites that do not suit the agendas of the regime.

The European Union is intensifying its efforts to censor and marginalize voices that disagree with its policies, under the convenient euphemism of combating "f**e news".

"The Commission needs to look into the challenges the online platforms create for our democracies as regards the spreading of f**e information and initiate a reflection on what would be needed at EU level to protect our citizens," wrote Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, in May 2017. How considerate that Juncker, in totalitarian fashion, wishes to protect EU citizens from news that does not fit the Commission's narratives and agendas.

In October 2017, the European Commission announced its "f**e news" policies and how it intends to "design solutions to address the spread of f**e news". According to the Commission, "F**e news consists of intentional disinformation spread via online social platforms, broadcast news media or traditional print". Furthermore, according to the Commission, the EU's f**e news policy is guided by, among other things, "the freedom of expression, media pluralism, and the right of citizens to diverse and reliable information".

This assurance of freedom of expression and pluralism comes across as rather laughable: the EU already does what it can to eliminate "media pluralism and... diverse and reliable information". The EU, for example, has programs in place -- such as the Rights, E******y and Citizenship Programme (REC) - - that seek heavily to influence European mainstream news outlets and their journalists with its own agendas -- such as that of continued mass-migration into Europe from Africa and the Middle East. For this purpose, the European Commission recently funded the publication of a handbook with guidelines for journalists on how to write about migrants and migration. The handbook was launched on October 12 by the International Press Institute (IPI) -- an association of media professionals representing leading digital, print and broadcast news outlets in more than 120 countries. Specifically, with regard to Muslims, the guidelines recommend:

"... Take care not to further stigmatise terms such as 'Muslim' or 'Islam' by associating them with particular acts... Don't allow extremists' claims about acting 'in the name of Islam' to stand unchallenged. Highlight... the diversity of Muslim communities..."

The EU also financially supports a campaign, "Media Against H**e" run by the European Federation of Journalists (EJF), the largest organization of journalists in Europe, which represents over 320,000 journalists across 43 countries. That campaign aims to:

"... improve media coverage related to migration, refugees, religion and marginalised groups... counter h**e speech, intolerance, r****m and discrimination... improve implementation of legal frameworks regulating h**e speech and freedom of speech..."

To further its nascent "f**e news" policies, the European Commission recently appointed 39 "experts" to a so-called "High Level Group (HLEG) on F**e News and online disinformation":

"It comprises representatives of the civil society, social media platforms, news media organisations, journalists and academia....

"The High Level group will advise the Commission on scoping the phenomenon of f**e news, defining the roles and responsibilities of relevant stakeholders, grasping the international dimension, taking stock of the positions at stake, and formulating recommendations".

The media representatives have been almost exclusively picked from the mainstream media -- giants such as ARD, RTL, Swedish state television, Sky News, AFP and News Media Europe, which renders any sort of balanced outcome that these "experts" might reach a rather illusory option. To the extent that they even view new or alternative media as a threat, it is seemingly in the interest of these media representatives to label competition from alternative or new media, "f**e news". The high-level group held its inaugural meeting on January 15, 2018.

The European Commission will poll EU citizens and conduct a Eurobarometer public opinion survey to be launched early 2018 "to measure and analyse the perceptions and concerns of the European citizens around f**e news". The Commission will also be organizing a "multi-stakeholder conference on F**e News" which, will "define the boundaries of the problem, assess the effectiveness of the solutions already put in place by social media platforms and... agree on key principles for further action".

The EU is not alone in threatening the shutting down of free speech under the cover of combating "f**e news". In France, President Emmanuel Macron has announced that he wants to introduce new legislation aimed at regulating "f**e news" during e******n seasons, including "emergency legal actions" that would allow the French government to remove "f**e news" from a website or block sites entirely. Macron said:

"If we want to protect liberal democracies, we must be strong and have clear rules. When f**e news is spread, it will be possible to go to a judge ... and if appropriate, have content taken down, user accounts deleted and ultimately websites blocked."

A law like this would mean that the French state -- or whoever is placed in a position to act as thought police on its behalf -- would become the arbiter of what constitutes "t***h", much in the same way as the new German censorship law requires social media networks to act as the privatized thought police of the German state.

The proposed French law, however, would go even further than the German censorship, in that it would allow French authorities to block entire websites during e******n seasons, a draconian measure to combat political opponents, which would place France in the same category as countries such as China and Iran that block websites that do not suit the agendas of the regime.

Such a French law would also be in violation of the right to freedom of expression and information guaranteed in Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights, to which France is a party, and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights. Article 10 states that everyone not only has the right to freedom of expression but "to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers..." Governments are not supposed to interfere in that right -- with a few specific exceptions described in Article 10 -- because such interference constitutes government censorship.

Overall, Europe appears to be aspiring to make totalitarianism great again.

I have said more than once we should change our i*********n l*ws to mirror Mexico's. Or perhaps 15 million or so of us should go to Mexico, commit crimes, have babies at taxpayers' expense, take Mexican jobs, v**e in their e******ns, steal their citizens' identities, drive around with no license or insurance, and "accidentally" shoot a few of their citizens after we had been deported five times.

CNN’s Sally Kohn looks like a dude and dresses like a lumberjack, but suddenly she is a fashion expert. Mostly because it involves attacking the President and First Lady. You see, Melania Trump wore white to the State of the Union address and Kohn feels like that is not only a fashion faux pas, but also an overt symbol of w***e s*******y. Yeah, were are at the point were the Resistance accuses a simple stylish outfit worn by Donald Trump’s wife as r****m.

This all starts with Melania showing up to the SOTU in her white outfit.

There is an old rule that it is unfashionable to wear white after Labor Day.

And that led to Sally Kohn losing what little was left of her mind:

You get it? Trump is r****t, his supporters are r****t, and Melania was signaling the w***e s*********ts with her choice of outfits. According to Sally Kohn, Melania Trump is a white power N**i for wearing white to the SOTU address. And CNN wonders why nobody trusts them as a news source anymore.

Actually, that last picture is 100% true.

Once again, the left proves how truly insane they are. I’m not sure if Sally Kohn thinks she’s funny or edgy by accusing the First Lady of r****m for the innocent crime of looking good in any outfit she wears, but in reality she comes off like a jealous fool. The fact is, Kohn doesn’t look good in anything and that is probably the reason why she prefers the company of women.

And in case you were wondering, it’s now official that r****m is anything Trump and his family does.

People who care about basic American freedoms should be grateful to the Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell, for one thing: He has given liberals another good reason to flock to the polls in November.
Mr. McConnell is set to hold a procedural v**e this week on a bill that would ban a******n at 20 weeks of pregnancy. The so-called Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, sponsored by Senator Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican, is part of a long-term legislative effort by the anti-a******n movement to gut Roe v. Wade and severely curtail a******n access nationwide.
Twenty-week a******n bans, enacted in more than a dozen states and struck down in two, violate the Supreme Court’s standard that a******n can be restricted only when a fetus is viable outside the womb. Many, including the one being considered by the Senate, are based on claims not supported by most scientists about when a fetus feels pain.
Only about 1 percent of women seeking a******ns do so after 21 weeks, and they often make that decision because a fetal a******lity has been found or because their own health is in danger. Twenty-week bans particularly curb access for poor women, who often struggle to find the money and time for the procedure.
The Senate bill contains exceptions for rape and incest if the women reported the abuse to law enforcement and sought counseling 48 hours before the a******n. But there is no exception to protect the health of the pregnant woman.
A******n providers, who already face harassment and threats to their lives and work, would face criminal penalties, with a sentence of up to five years, for performing a******ns after 20 weeks. The locations of all such procedures would need to be reported to the federal government.
Though President Trump urged Congress to “pass this important law and send it to my desk for signing” in his address to the anti-a******n March for Life this month, Republicans are almost certain to fall short of the 60 v**es needed to formally take up the bill.
Still, a******n rights advocates and medical professionals are taking the legislation seriously, since a******n foes are working hard for it. The prospects for such a ban considerably diminish if the Democrats take back either house of Congress after the 2018 midterm e******ns. And if they control the Senate, Mr. Trump will have virtually no chance of picking another anti-a******n Supreme Court justice.
Since announcing his candidacy, Mr. Trump, at one time a supporter of a******n rights, has embraced anti-a******n politics with zeal. But that seems to be a matter of maintaining evangelical support. His concern for fetal life cannot be fairly measured, but his sensitivity to the needs of women, or lack of it, is well known.
Some sponsors of the version of this bill that the House passed in October seem to share Mr. Trump’s attitude. One, Trent Franks, Republican of Arizona, resigned his seat in December after it was reported that a female staff member had felt pressured to have sex with him as part of a surrogacy scheme. Another, Tim Murphy, a Pennsylvania Republican, v**ed for the bill just hours after news broke that he was accused of pressuring his mistress to — get this — have an a******n. He later quit.
Ultimately, the fate of the ban and other anti-a******n measures will be in the hands of v**ers. For supporters of a******n rights, the choice should be clear.
