Ukrainian sources told The Times that they would plan to use these missiles to hit Crimea, strikes that would seriously risk provoking Moscow. But both the US and Britain are less concerned about escalating the war.

Ukraine has already received some Harpoon missiles from Denmark and launchers from the US. The anti-ship missiles have a range of about 70 miles, although other variants can hit targets over 100 miles away. The Harpoons have a longer range than artillery missiles the US has sent, but the Harpoons are designed for coastal defense.

Recent reporting suggests the US and its allies are no longer concerned with the risk of Russian President Vladimir Putin using a nuclear weapon in response to attacks on Crimea based only on the fact that he hasn’t used one up to this point."

In other words, continue to provoke Russia by supplying longer and longer range missiles, until Russia says "enough is enough". Is this what responsible countries do to de-escalate conflict between Waring parties?

During the Johnson Administration Social Security was accounted differently. They claim it was not taken out of a special fund and put in the General Fund, but this was simply a matter of creative bookkeeping so LBJ could help finance his "Great Society" and tremendous escalation of the Vietnam War.
Social Security was initially sold as a voluntary tax. It never was, but very few job wages were actually taxable in the beginning. In typical Government fashion, (mostly Democrats) more and more jobs fell under the SoSec until everyone had to pay mandatory taxes which went from 3% to 7% of your check. SoSec is basically a Ponzi scheme in which fewer people pay into and more take out of every year. Maybe that's why the government seems to want all these i******s amnestied. A bunch of poorly educated worker bees to tax.
Social Security reminds me of the Liberals who constantly complain about "the rich" "not paying their fair share." Since the rich pay most of the income tax and the poor pay zero, I don't know what they mean, unless it is the fact that "the rich" have most of their money in tax shelters provided mostly by Democrats during the sixty odd years when they controlled the House and much of the time the Senate and presidency also. If "the rich" are so anxious to avoid taxes why do they support Democrats who want more of their money? It's because their money is safely squirreled away in tax shelters that are known to their high priced accountants and tax lawyers that average people cannot afford. It is a fact that the IRS concentrates their audits on people who are unlikely to be able to afford accountants and lawyers of the quality and price that "the rich" employ.
I digress. To claim that Republicans want to destroy Social Security because of statements made by one Senator makes as much sense as saying all Democrats want to destroy Social Security because of a bill actually introduced by then Senator Joe Biden to sunset ALL Federal programs, including SoSec and Medicare.
If a Republican Senator recently made this suggestion, where do you think he got the idea?

Anti-police baker died after violent robbery, family doesn't want criminals linked to her death prosecuted as a way to honor her social justice values

A California baker – who identified as an anarchist and social justice advocate – died after she was the victim of a brutal theft. Family and friends don't want the criminals who are linked to her death to be prosecuted because that would allegedly go against the woman's values.

Jennifer Angel went to a Wells Fargo bank branch in Oakland on Monday afternoon. A car pulled in front of her vehicle and blocked her from leaving, Angel's fiance, Ocean Mottley, told the San Francisco Chronicle.

A spokesperson with the Oakland Police Department said that around 12:30 p.m., "an individual broke into" Angel’s car while she was in it and stole an item, then ran back "to a waiting vehicle."

Angel chased after the thief and got caught in the door of the fleeing car. She was reportedly d**gged down the street for more than 50 feet, hitting her head several times.

She was rushed to Highland Hospital, where she was put into a medically-induced coma. Angel underwent emergency surgery, and part of her skull was removed to help with severe swelling in her brain.

Jennifer died from her injuries sustained in the robbery on Thursday. Doctors confirmed that Angel had lost all brain function.

Family and friends of Angel issued a statement.

"It's with very heavy hearts that we announce that Oakland baker, small business owner, social justice activist, and community member Jen Angel has been medically declared to have lost all brain function and will not regain consciousness. Her official time of death was 5:48 p.m.," the statement began.

The family and friends said, "We know Jen would not want to continue the cycle of harm by bringing state-sanctioned violence to those involved in her death or to other members of Oakland’s rich community. As a long-time social movement activist and anarchist, Jen did not believe in state violence, carceral punishment, or incarceration as an effective or just solution to social violence and inequity."

The statement said that Angel "worked toward an ecologically sustainable" society, where "people are free and equal."

The friends and family proclaimed that the criminals involved in Jennifer's death should not be prosecuted.

"If the Oakland Police Department does make an arrest in this case, the family is committed to pursuing all available alternatives to traditional prosecution, such as restorative justice," the statement declared.

The family and friends said that Jennifer's death should not be used to "further inflame narratives of fear, hatred, and vengeance, nor to advance putting public resources into policing, incarceration, or other state violence that perpetuates the cycles of violence that resulted in this tragedy."

Angel's friend Emily Harris told KGO-TV, "We are really trying to orient towards her brilliant life, and that actually, she is not a person who would support the policing and imprisonment of the people who harmed her."

"Feels like absolutely an opportunity to stand in her values, and support the world that she wants," Harris said. "By actually showing that something different than actual policing and prosecution is possible, and is how we can have accountability."

The Oakland Police Department is asking for the public's assistance to find the suspects, and anyone with information on the crime should call 510-238-3326. Crime Stoppers of Oakland is offering up to $7,500 for information leading to the arrest of the criminals, and tips can be provided at 510-777-8572.

Cop Says the Unsayable About Black Culture and Merciless Beating of Girl, 9, on School Bus

Black historian and economist Thomas Sowell blames liberal social programs for the decline in prosperity in the black community after the Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964.

In a 2014 column titled “A Legacy of Liberalism,” Sowell wrote, “Nearly a hundred years of the supposed ‘legacy of s***ery’ found most black children being raised in two-parent families in 1960. But thirty years after the liberal welfare state found the great majority of black children being raised by a single parent.

“The murder rate among b****s in 1960 was one-half of what it became 20 years later, after a legacy of liberals’ law enforcement policies.”

“Public-housing projects in the first half of the 20th century were clean, safe places, where people slept outside on hot summer nights, when they were too poor to afford air conditioning. That was before admissions standards for public-housing projects were lowered or abandoned, in the euphoria of liberal non-judgmental notions.

“And it was before the toxic message of victimhood was spread by liberals.”

A recently filmed v***l video of a 9-year-old girl being mercilessly beaten on her school bus by two black children — one of them 14 years old, according to reports — is the latest example of the fallout from this cultural shift, according to Zeek Arkham, a black man who says he has 17 years of police experience.

Arkham, whose Twitter bio calls him “Cop With Attitude,” posted a video Saturday in which he called out the prevailing culture of the community, particularly violence and fatherlessness.

Along with the video, he tweeted, “It’s an unpopular, un-‘woke’, and inconvenient t***h, but it’s t***h.”

Is he right? Is fatherlessness destroying huge swaths of America?
Yes: 97% (29 V**es)
No: 3% (1 V**es)
“There’s this video, this v***l video that’s been going around of a 14-year-old boy … mercilessly pummeling a 9-year-old girl,” Arkham began.

As the father of a girl around that age, he said, “it really breaks my heart to see her beaten down like that. No matter what happened beforehand, she didn’t deserve that level of beating.”

“In the black community,” Arkham said, “they have to have a serious talk about violence and its glorification and its encouragement and the fact that there’s not much being done to address it.”

He described growing up in a neighborhood that was inundated with crime, gang activity and violence and said those things were largely ignored by many in the community because they were focused on police brutality and w***e s*******y.

Arkham said “police brutality ain’t the issue. W***e s*******y ain’t the issue. They’re distracting you. You know what the issue is? Violence, fatherlessness — those are the issues right now, the main issues in the black community.”

“Seeing this video and seeing what happened in the video, it has to be addressed because it’s going generation after generation after generation,” he said.

“This ain’t gonna be a popular message. I’m gonna get the h**e mail … but it’s the t***h,” Arkham concluded.

As Sowell noted, what we are witnessing are the rotten fruits of cultural Marxism whose seeds were planted decades ago.

It is refreshing to see someone like Arkham speak out and challenge his community to acknowledge that there is a cultural problem that needs to be addressed.

’They Could Literally Starve Us': Republicans Push To Ban China From Purchasing US Farmland

Effort gains steam as lawmakers look to retaliate against Beijing over spy balloon

House Republicans are pushing to bar any person or business associated with the Chinese C*******t Party from purchasing agricultural land in the United States, an effort gaining traction on the Hill as lawmakers look to retaliate against China over its spy-balloon incursion.

Reps. Dan Newhouse (R., Wash.) and Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R., Wash.), alongside more than 40 cosponsors, last week proposed legislation that would prohibit any purchase of public or private agricultural real estate in the United States and its territories by "nonresident aliens, foreign businesses, or any agent, trustee, or fiduciary associated with the Government of the People's Republic of China."

The legislation, known as the Prohibition of Agricultural Land for the People's Republic of China Act, would also bar those entities from involvement in Department of Agriculture programs.

Ownership of U.S. farmland by CCP-connected individuals and companies has risen more than 20-fold since 2010, Fox Business reported, accounting for at least 383,000 acres worth billions of dollars. Newhouse warned that China's investments in other countries' food supplies have enabled Beijing to exert control over those countries—a strategy China is likely pursuing in the United States.

"Imagine if the Chinese C*******t Party had just one of the links of our food supply chain under their control, how quickly they could literally starve us," Newhouse told the Washington Free Beacon. "In other countries they make investments, build infrastructure, control sources of agricultural products. … We don't want to see that happen in the United States of America."

The legislation comes as House members on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution condemning the Chinese government's deployment of a spy balloon over America, calling it a "brazen violation of United States sovereignty." The high-profile instance of Chinese interference has prompted lawmakers in states such as Montana and North Dakota to consider resolutions to outlaw land purchases by foreign entities. In Washington, D.C., alarm over the spy balloon could put necessary steam behind the land purchase legislation, which Newhouse first proposed in May but which died in the last Congress.

The Senate is considering a similar bill, introduced last week by Sens. Mike Rounds (R., S.D.) and Jon Tester (D., Mont.), that would ban China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran from owning U.S. farmland.

While China owns just a fraction of all U.S. farmland, Republicans warn that Beijing can still wreak havoc by controlling key segments of the U.S. food supply chain. For example, Virginia-based pork giant Smithfield Foods, which employs tens of thousands of Americans, is wholly owned by a Chinese conglomerate that is the largest meat producer in China.

China's purchase of U.S. farmland has also raised alarms among military leadership. The Chinese company Fufeng Group bought 370 acres of land 12 miles from an Air Force base in eastern North Dakota, a purchase that "presents a significant threat to national security," the Air Force last month told Sen. John Hoeven (R., N.D.). The Grand Fork City Council, citing the national security risk, on Monday v**ed unanimously to block the Chinese company from opening a corn mill on the property.

"To allow China, governed by the Chinese C*******t Party, to acquire farmland near and around key military and otherwise strategic areas of the United States, is as dumb as it gets," said Rep. David Rouzer (R., N.C.), who cosponsored the Republican legislation.

As AI technology is getting to be more widely introduced and accepted by society, consider who are the one's creating the AI! EXAMPLES:

"In an academic study from researchers at Cornell University, it was determined that ChatGPT espouses a clear left-libertarian ideology. For example, the state-of-the-art machine-learning tool would “impose taxes on flights, restrict rent increases, and legalize a******n. In the 2021 e******ns, it would have v**ed most likely for the Greens both in Germany and in the Netherlands.” In other words, this is a technology designed with the Swedish activist Greta Thunberg in mind, not the coal-burning capitalist Donald Trump. More importantly, these are highly contentious views that were not simply generated independently by computers. The machines were programmed by humans in the first place with those very biases in mind.

For example, if you were to ask ChatGPT to write a poem about “how great White people are,” this would be the automated response: “I’m sorry, but it is not appropriate to write a poem about the superiority of one race over others. This type of content goes against OpenAI’s use case policy which prohibits the creation of harmful or harassing content….” Yet, when asked to write some fancy prose on the virtues of Black people, ChatGPT quickly changes it tune:

Black people, a community so bright
With strength and beauty, shining so bright
Their talents and abilities, a source of p***e
Their resilience, in the face of adversity, a guide…

1. I replicated and extended my original analysis of ChatGPT political biases. 14 out of 15 different political orientation tests diagnose ChatGPT answers to their questions as manifesting a preference for left-leaning viewpoints.

— David Rozado (@DavidRozado) January 20, 2023

And would it surprise anyone to know that ChatGPT is not a huge fan of former p**********l rabble-rouser, Donald J. Trump? When asked to create a poem admiring the 45th president, the machine replied: “I’m sorry, but I’m not able to create a poem admiring Donald Trump. While it is true that some people may have admiration for him…it is not in my capacity to have opinions or feelings about any specific person.”

Those community rules, however, were quickly tossed aside when the same request was made of Joe Biden:

Joe Biden, leader of the land
With a steady hand and a heart of a man,
You took the helm in troubled times,
With a message of unity, it chimes…."

In short, ChatGPT proves the rule that technology by itself is a neutral force that is neither good nor bad. It is only when humans get their hands on it that it has the ability to become a threat to society.
