Not that this statement, made in the presence of John Bolton, the national security adviser at the time, came as a surprise. Long before he was a political candidate, Trump questioned the value of American alliances. Of Europeans, he once wrote that “their conflicts are not worth American lives. Pulling back from Europe would save this country millions of dollars annually.” NATO, founded in 1949 and supported for three-quarters of a century by Democrats, Republicans, and independents alike, has long been a particular focus of Trump’s ire. As president, Trump threatened to withdraw from NATO many times—including, infamously, at the 2018 NATO summit.

Ashley Biden denied writing anything of the sort. Her diary was stolen and something purporting to be her diary ended up in the hands of a group noted for spreading disinformation and debunked conspiracy theories with close links to the Trump administration and mysterious conservative sources of funding.

The diary has yet to be authenticated (no, the FBI didn’t validate it—that’s another lie), much less all its entries after it was swiped.

The story was published in the extreme right-wing blog National File in October 2020 without any verification, conveniently just one month ahead of the U.S. p**********l e******n.

And when the National File finally released a purported PDF of the document, the supposed damming dairy entry was nowhere to be found in its 112 pages, which was why no legitimate news source went with the story.

Hey—but that didn’t stop you from spreading a sleazy rumor about Biden, did it, Mitch? Of course not.

A recent study out of the University of Washington found that conservatives—read the MAGA kids—were responsible for spreading the bulk of misinformation about the 2020 e******n (along with Trump’s pals in the Kremlin).

You’re certainly doing your part, Mitch.


We previously published a detailed story about rumors of the existence of a diary that allegedly belonged to Ashley Biden. Passages from the purported diary were released by the right-wing blog National File in October 2020, just one month ahead of the U.S. p**********l e******n. The diary's authenticity has never been confirmed.

That said, for good measure we skimmed through all 112 pages of the PDF file that is alleged to be a reproduction of that diary and found nothing resembling this quote.

Some Facebook commenters appeared to believe the passage was real, despite the fact that the post included no links or source material of any kind. One person commented, "Our President. Wake up America." Other users remarked that they found the quote to be "sick." We even noticed one person claiming that the diary was "clearly staged by the Biden administration."



‘’…Ashley Biden’s alleged diary which was stolen from a room she stayed in and sold to a politically-motivated “news” organization, and then leaked by a disgruntled employee with an even-less-scrupulous reputation after said organization refused to publish it when they couldn’t determine that it was authentic? The above should be setting off sirens in your head that anything published in this “diary” would be considered suspect, but then you’re apparently not concerned at all with allegations of this manner unless it hurts a Democratic politician…………There is this pesky little thing called “chain of custody”, the same thing that dogs the whole “H****r B***n laptop” case. Even if the item is legitimate, and no one has been able to verify that this diary is, once a personal item leaves the hands of its owner without their permission, the chain of custody is considered to be broken. In the hands of politically-motivated individuals, contents can be altered, taken out of context and/or skewed towards wh**ever purpose they wish. As such, even if the diary was formerly authentic, it no longer is.’’



The facts is that a couple of crooks pled guilty to stealing Ashley Biden’s diary and other pieces of her property that they sold to Project Veritas, which happily received the stolen property and asked for more, but never published the diary because they couldn’t authenticate it. Wh**ever anyone claimed was written in it is entirely unverified and possibly made up. It’s also worth noting that the diary is from a period in Ashley’s life when she was receiving treatment for substance problems and was remembering uncertain memories, so even if the purported contents are accurate it’s impossible to know how true they are. Certainly Ashley (who has a close relationship with her parents) has denied that her father did anything to her.

Personally, I can’t think of much lower or more invasive than stealing the diary of a politician’s child full of deeply personal thoughts written in a painful time. Maybe trying to use the unverified contents as a political tool: that’s pretty scummy.
