Zero House Republicans on Wednesday supported a measure requiring the Pentagon and federal law enforcement agencies to publish a report on countering w***e s*********t and neo-N**i activity in their ranks.

Rep. Brad Schneider's (D-Ill.) amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2023 directing the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Defense "to publish a report that analyzes and sets out strategies to combat w***e s*********t and neo-N**i activity in the uniformed services and federal law enforcement agencies" passed in a party-line 218-208 v**e.

Among present lawmakers, Democrats were unified in support and Republicans in opposition. Reps. Theodore Deutch (D-Fla.), Kevin Brady (R-Texas), Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.), and Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) did not v**e.


The House is expected to pass the full NDAA this week, after which it will conference with the Senate, where amendments to the annual military spending bill could be struck down.

Schneider's proposal requests "figures on the number of people who were discharged from uniformed services or law enforcement because of situations involving w***e s*******y and neo-N**i activity," The Hill reported. It also calls for "information on how the agency leaders responded to 'planned or effectuated incidents' connected to w***e s*********t and neo-N**i ideology."

The report—to be published no more than 180 days after enactment of the NDAA and every six months thereafter—would be submitted to congressional committees, and unclassified sections would be made public.

In a House floor speech on Wednesday, Schneider said that the U.S. is experiencing a rise in domestic terrorism, pointing to the 2018 mass shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh by a right-wing, anti-Semitic gunman, and the 2017 "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, where Heather Heyer was k**led when a neo-N**i drove his car into a crowd of progressive counter-protesters.

In a 2020 report titled Hidden in Plain Sight: R****m, W***e S*******y, and Far-Right Militancy in Law Enforcement, the Brennan Center for Justice wrote that "the government's response to known connections of law enforcement officers to violent r****t and militant groups has been strikingly insufficient."

Last year, a House Committee on Veterans' Affairs hearing on "Violent Domestic Extremist Groups and the Recruitment of Veterans" highlighted the dangers of far-right extremism among veterans and active-duty military personnel.

Schneider cited a May presentation from the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency, titled "The Insider Threat and Extremist Activity Within the DOD," which detailed cases of domestic terrorism connected to members of the U.S. military.

"Such behavior, such extremism is a threat to us in all segments of society," Schneider said during debate. "There is no reason to believe that our military is any different."

"These are exceptions, they are rare," he added, "but we must do everything we can to identify them and to thwart them before risks become a reality."

An Ohio man was arrested Tuesday for raping a 10-year-old girl who became a central figure in the debate over a******n rights after she reportedly traveled to Indiana to have an a******n when Ohio outlawed the procedure last month.

Arrest records and court records viewed by The Daily Beast confirm that Gerson Fuentes, 27, was arrested Tuesday in Franklin County on a felony charge of raping a person under 13. The Columbus Dispatch, who first reported on his arrest, attended Fuentes’ arraignment in Columbus on Wednesday.


The unidentified girl became national news when a doctor’s allegation that she traveled from her home in Columbus to Indianapolis for an a******n began to spread in the wake of the the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. Her home state had a trigger law that immediately made a******ns in the state illegal, while a******ns remain legal in Indiana.

Columbus police detectives testified in court Wednesday that the a******n did take place out of state, the Dispatch reported. Court records show Fuentes is being held on a bond of $2 million. The Dispatch reported that a judge said the 27-year-old defendant was considered a flight risk and, given the brutality of the crime, a high bail was necessary to protect the child involved.

Citing detectives, the newspaper reported that police were first made aware of the girl’s pregnancy through a referral filed with the local child services’ branch by her mother on June 22. Eight days later, the girl reportedly received a medical a******n in Indianapolis. Court records say the rape occurred on May 12.

Fuentes’ arrest comes as conservative media claimed the girl’s story was made up for political theater, something parroted by Fox News presenters as recently as Tuesday night—while Fuentes was already in custody.

But also those with egg on their face in light of the horrific crime: the top law-enforcement official in Ohio.

Indeed, state Attorney General Dave Yost spent much of the past week effectively dubbing the story a h**x, suggesting he had heard nothing about any such crime being reported.

“We have a decentralized law enforcement system in Ohio, but we have regular contact with prosecutors and local police and sheriffs,” Yost said in a Fox News segment Monday. “Not a whisper anywhere.”

Yost released a statement Wednesday afternoon, and did not address his previous comments.

“My heart aches for the pain suffered by this young child,” he said. “I am grateful for the diligent work of the Columbus Police Department in securing a confession and getting a rapist off the street.”

Dr. Caitlin Bernard, the Indianapolis obstetrician-gynecologist who first described the rape and its aftermath to the Indianapolis Star, previously told The Daily Beast she expected vindication.

“It will all come out in time,” she said via text message on Tuesday.
