It is interesting that the folks pissing and moaning about unions forget the fact that union leaders are elected by the members. Campaign contributions from union PAC's are not funded by dues but by voluntary contributions from millions of members and their family's. Publicly traded corporations are allowed to make political contributions secretly without even telling shareholders so investors often unwittingly are funding political activity and lobbying that is against their own self interest. The deck is stacked against working family's in favor of corporations and unions are about the only way working family's can hope to defend themselves. The eroding of union membership and influence almost exactly parrellels the decline of living standards of our middle class. How anyone who is not a one percenter can cheer this on is beyond me.

They do not pay for political campaign contributions; however, they do pay the salaries of the union management, which coincidentally is into mid six figures now, who then campaign on issues their membership may or may not agree with. The membership is given no say on such issues.

Of course you do, your union leaders are elected.

I thought it a rather novel way of ridding oneself of undesirable neighbors. Your point about religious fundmentalists is correct, to a point, but almost all terrorist attacks are carried out by Muslims. Having a narrow minded, parochial viewpoint is one thing. Blowing up people who disagree with that viewpoint is typical 12th Century Muslim.

There are a bunch of Christians doing some brutal ethnic cleansing of Muslims in central Africa right now. As I recall Timothy McVeigh was driven by his fundamental Christian beliefs when he Blew up the Federal Building k*****g among others a bunch of little kids in a day care center. Violent nuts are violent nuts regardless of what God they worship.

Kevyn's answer displayed just what I thought it would. Nothing about any of the other wealthy individuals or businesses, just talk about unions.

I should tell Kevyn about when I withdrew from the NEA back in 1976. They gave a pile of money, $4.5 million, to Carter to get him to create their Department of Education and got by with it although they didn't ask the millions of members. I demanded my share of that one back and they gave me the $4.65 and I withdrew from them. All of the fools who I worked with told me it wasn't worth the trouble to get that money back but I never thought a union should be able to spend members' money for political purposes with out asking permission. I had come to h**e unions for that kind of activity before that time and certainly never dropped that dislike.

So you are benefiting from the contract the NEA has bargained for and yet fail to pay your share of the administrative cost letting your coworkers pay your way. Do you consider yourself a Scab or just a Freeloader? As I am sure you know union dues can not be used for campaign contributions so all you are doing is riding on the backs of your colleagues.

How about em two wrongs never make a right. Ask the Hutu and the tribe they slaughtered.
its awful anyway you look at it.

My original point that the bare assed little boy urinating can't grasp is that fundamentalist religious sects from all walks of life create chaos with the blood thirsty defense of their own very specific creation myths and literal reading of their scriptures. His agressive defense of his own tribes folklore go's a long way toward proving my point.

No where did I make such comments. My comment was strictly based upon the statistics shown.

By the way, not all individuals "voluntarily" provide money to the union coffers. There are states that require individuals to have union dues paid whether the employee chooses to join a union on not.

Further, unions contribute, as well, to e******ns where they have no presence, ie. "Right to Work" States.

Unions are precluded from using dues money for campaign contributions, all of the money they use for such purposes is voluntarily donated by members and their family's.

Both are equally culpable in e******n influencing.

All sarcasm aside, the Democrats are actually working on a 10 year plan to turn Texas blue. They really do have long range plans to put the Republican party out of its misery...

The Mexican American population in Texas is growing at a much faster rate than peckerwoods, this combined with retired well educated Northerners heading down for the warm weather the Republicans will be on the endangered species list in no time!

If Tommy "rises again" it will be like filth bubbleing up from a backed up sewer. As it stands right now with the changes in demographics Texas will be a blue state in a couple of e******n cycles. Yippie Yahoo!

You; however, have failed to address the fact the largest political donors are the unions.

I actually took the time to look at the numbers. Did you? I would have thought, with all the publicity about them (Koch), they would have been in the top ten. Such appears not to be the case.

So the Unions who represent millions of individual members voluntarily pooling their small donations to the unions political funds, money spent openly and publicly to support candidates who help working familys are the same in your mind as three billionairs secretly spending millions influencing e******ns in places they don't even live?

Try being a Muslim and sneak out and not praying to Mecca five times a day and watch what happens.

How about the Bosnian Muslims many who are somewhat secular who were sllaughtered by the militant Christian Serbs?

Here are just a few frightning quotes from the Quaran, can you believe that any so called peace loving people could claim to take direction from such a book? we should never let such people live in our country! Oops I got the holy books mixed up; sorry what was I thinking?

Deuteronomy 7:1-2 When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you many nations . . . then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy.

Leviticus 20:9
If anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put to death.

Exodus 35:2
For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death.

Matthew 10:34
Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

Most of the money the Koch boys spend on politics is dark money allowed by the citizens united decision. This is cash is funneled through semi secret 503 groups to pay for smear campaigns disguised as so called issue ads. Thease guys are as dirty as the day is long and the teabaggers just lap up wh**ever crap the Kochs feed them. The entire teabaggers movement is clearly traced back to the Koch's and the i***t followers of the movement continue to believe that they thought it up on their own. It would all be laughable if it wasn't for the damage it has done to our country.
