Those same Democrats became Republican Dixiecrats after LBJ signed the civil rights bill and declared war on poverty. They wanted to keep denying rights like v**eing and being able to eat in a restaurant from one third of our population.

What we need to do is get funding education back with the States like it was many years ago. The carrot - stick method of giving national money to states has caused too much national control of our schools. I started teaching in1959 and sure enough the federal government wasn't in control back then. By the time I got out in 1986 they were creeping in pretty fast. It has become worse and worse ever since they got in.

In Coos Bay we have had a strange winter. not a lot of rain like in normal years. We have people out in the country with wells going dry and cattle grazing fields that should be flooded. we are even getting forest fires this last week. Un real. this summer is going to be a hot one here.

California is experiencing the worst drought in its 163 year statehood. I live in Northern Calif. We have had exactly one day of rain the entire autumn and winter. There is very little Sierra Snowpack and Ski resorts are closing (this is January, not June).

For those who have been paying attention, man-caused carbon emissions have long been predicted to cause massive weather extremes around the world. It was not predicted that there would be universal warming. What was predicted was that there would be regional climate disasters. Climate prediction is an incredibly complex science, that involves numerous feedback loops related to
ocean current temperatures, ice pack, and too many other variables to list in this post.

What would be the big repercussions if the high pressure ridge, parked off the coast, doesn't budge?

1. It would be a disaster for all Californians. If California becomes a modern day dust bowl, the state's 38 million people would have to migrate to other states. Their departure would cause trillions of dollars in real estate value to evaporate. Many of the biggest U.S. banks would be ruined.

2. The cost of fruits and vegetables would rise dramatically for much of the U.S.

3. A California exile would dramatically raise demand for housing in other states and drive up their housing costs.

4. 38 million people departing from a very blue state will cause numerous red states to turn blue. Californians don't like living in extreme cold, so the southern "red" states would be the most appealing.

5. The population and financial dislocations would trigger a national depression, which would make the 1930s pale in comparison.

6. The high pressure ridge would cause Calif. bound rain to be routed up over the western mountains and cause flooding in much of the east. The climate disruption will actually cause more ice and snow (and paradoxically) cold events in the east. Like I said, feedback loops are complicated.

7. Conservatives in other states would do well to refrain from gloating. If the nation's boat develops a large hole, ALL of its passengers will get extremely soaked. "Do not ask for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee."

An endless sunny summer is fun...until its not...

This proves we need to focus more on education give funding to schools and pay dedicated teachers a decent living. Ther is no excuse to be the strongest nation in the world with budget cuts weakening our education system.

You just can't see that NCLB along with its replacement Common Core has taken away so much knowledge from our your people, can you.

I found the juniors I had in American History out early and forced them to learn geography before they got out of the class. Also, none of them would have passed without knowing that JFK had been dead since 1963. Of course, my last year of teaching was in 1986 so it wasn't as bad as it is now.

Not really. If you look at the people who wish death on others, it is almost exclusively conservatives (lock and load? Short ropes from long trees and lamp posts?).

Democrats are not looking to execute conservatives. They just want them out of office and permanently out of the White House.

For an obviosly literate person you use strong language. Your govenor asked you to leave the state? Everybody has to be somewhere. I hope you are happy where you are. Don't take things so much to heart. In your lifetime youll see a republican in the white house again thats the way politics works now come on If you're happy and you know it clap your hands..

Persecuted? Well, my Governor did tell me to leave the state. But by you 3 twits...?

I'm not unhappy - I'm pissed off. Pissed off that people like you sit around while the Constitution is disregarded like a used piece of toilet paper by an arrogant and lying SOB in the White house, who has the nerve to announce this disregard in his very own Enabling Act, once called the State of the Union.

1.7 million people on the federal minimum wage - 90 million OUT OF WORK. And what does this jackass "president" choose to focus on? That's called a fact, whether it's said by the Queen of England or a bum sleeping on a park bench.

There are civil wars of varying degrees going on now in the Central African Republic, Libya, Sudan, Tunisia, Egypt, Turkey, and now the Ukraine. Nigeria isn't far behind, and China now experiences regular attacks by AQ. Our alliances across the Middle East have completely evaporated, minus Turkey and Qatar - two countries governed by the Muslim Brotherhood. There's been a systematic attack on some of the oldest Christian communities in the world. Do you think that just maybe the "president" might find even 120 seconds in his rambling to mention these things to the country and world?

Politics is not some psychodrama you libs imagine it to be. Instead of dealing with facts, you sit around and psychoanalyze the people reporting them. As if I, me, the guy typing this, has anything to do with your life at all... and as if I care one bit about what you think of me personally. In case you didn't notice, a thick skin is a must for this kind reality-based approach to life. What I'm interested in solely is informing people of the actual stuff that's transforming the world around them, while half the country is under some alternative reality spell cast by the "president."

For once in your life, grow up.

You are a very unhappy person I'm so sorry you can't laugh about anything you feel persecuted and victimized don't you? I wish you happiness and a far better year than 2013 was. None of us wish you ill.I find you intelligent a bit wordy but angry and that's no way to be. I hope this internet b.s. does not spill over into your personal life.

Let's see. Who is left on this thread? 3 mental patients.

1. A liar, who can't even admit to the public what he wrote and then had deleted.
2. A manipulative fraud, who claims to be a retired psychologist, but has many of the same traits as a run-of-the-mill social predator.
3. A man who claims to know how the world works by personal experience and the study of Victorian art. History books and the Bible be damned. (Note: the damning of history also applies to patient #2.)

And yet the three of you are content remaining on this topic, even though you've chased off everyone with a brain, and anyone with a different opinion.

That's quite an accomplishment.

My credibility is very solid, and I take cues for that sort of "self reflection" from my relationships in real life, personal and professional, and not the ramblings of three socially inept and intellectually deficient anonymous internet trolls.
