Well said cold iron. If they'd just admit that they play for the other team and present their arguments at least I'd respect their right to their opinion. There are so many examples of hypocrisy that it's impossible to mention them all. My latest favorite is the concept that until wages improve Trump cannot claim the economy is running on all cylinders while supporting open borders...

Considering it was USN&WR that did the rankings (which explains MN at #2 and TX at #46), I'd think CA residents would feel even worse.

Trump is not a politician. He's part salesman, part master of ceremonies, part cheerleader, and a few other things. Obama was a politician and an activist. He spoke eloquently about feelings and ideas, but his actions didn't match the rhetoric. Trump speaks like no previous president. But he has done more of what he promised he'd do than nearly anyone before. And he's done it in the face of a firestorm of opposition from the media, entertainment, sports, democrats, l*****ts, socialists, rinos, never-trumpers, the CIA/FBI/NSA/et. al., the EU... (have I missed anybody)? If you're hung up on how he communicates, I guess we'll deal with that, just like we dealt with 8 years of "Make America Less Than Great". It's finally your turn.

And is it right for California to do what it can to become a magnet for undocumented immigrants in order to exert undue influence on the US as a whole? I'm guessing, but I don't think it's what the founding fathers had in mind.

Thanks for the welcome Permafrost. Do I believe your reasoning as to why conservatives want that question on the census? To some extent I do. There are definitely people who think that way. But are you saying that we should not make efforts to identify and remove people who are in the US illegally?

Just registered to join the discussion after lurking for some time. PeterS - when I read your comments I can't understand why your patriotic looking avatar isn't flipping us all the bird. Your unfettered h**e for conservatives makes it difficult to examine your arguments dispassionately. As for the topic at hand, if you look at the constitution, the purpose of the census is to indeed get a count of all the people living within our borders. However, v****g is for citizens only. What is wrong with using a tool like the census to help determine who has a right to v**e and who does not. It makes a huge amount of economic sense to piggyback onto something we are already paying to have done rather than creating yet another tax dollar sucking organism to accomplish the same thing. Now, do people who shouldn't v**e (deceased, i******s, non-residents, etc.) do so? Absolutely! And IMHO it's the reason Trump didn't win by an even larger margin in a number of states.
