NY Times explains why they published name of undercover CIA agent
When the Times initially reached out to the intelligence agency for comment, the CIA even advised the Times not to publish the agent’s name, citing the fact that he was working in a covert fashion. According to the Times, they “take care not to put national security or lives in danger, and we take that concern very seriously.”
However, the paper chose to publish the name anyway in a June 2 news story.
The newspaper explained:
In this case, editors decided to publish the name because [the agent] is a senior official who runs operations from the agency’s headquarters outside Washington, not in the field. He is also the architect of the C.I.A.’s program to use drones to k**l high-ranking militants, one of the government’s most significant paramilitary programs. We believe that the American public has a right to know who is making life-or-death decisions in its name.
It was also not the first time that [the agent’s] name has been mentioned in our newspaper. After his identity was disclosed in a 2015 article, The Times’s executive editor, Dean Baquet, discussed the rationale in an interview with Lawfare, a website that covers national security law, and gave more insight into editors’ decision-making.

Susan Rice has a Real Possibility of Being Convicted of a Crime
The release of private information to the general public has grown into an ever alarming trend. While often times the released information, especially that related to politicians, has proven valuable to the general public, it illustrates the notion of nothing truly being secret any longer. Organizations such as WikiLeaks has made a living off of the release of semi-sensitive information, often outlining the corruption of certain political officials (after all, documents and information on the level is generally released without much fanfare).
During the recent P**********l E******n, Susan Rice, the former National Security Advisor took advantage of her office in order to perform potentially a corrupt, illegal act in hopes of outing members of the Trump campaign for wrongdoing (while she attempted to pull at threads, nothing unraveled).
So now, Susan Rice is to appear before the House Intelligence Committee in order to testify. However, her appearance has since been postponed. Now, there are many reasons as to why her speaking in front of the HIC would be postponed. However, this is often a tactic used by defense attorneys in order to buy their criminal defendants more time in freedom (or to try and seek out information to back their claims). With all of this going on, Susan Rice has a real possibility of being convicted of a crime as she pushes back her testimony.
