I don't have much of an opinion about chip implants. I see the same value in their use as you do, but there have already been objections to them by conservatives who think they are an invasion of privacy, but that might just be because they are being talked about while Obama is in office. Put a Republican in the White House, and they will probably think they are the greatest invention since sliced bread.

Microchips are on the horizon for Canada and France. The chip will have complete medical records and law enforcement, such as DUIs, jail time, probation and such. All in all, if the chip could be made to be hacker proof it is not such a bad idea. Can you imagine the benefits to medical personnel. Blood type information could save a person's life. Diabetics, their disease can cause coma with hypoglycemia. I can see a real benefit. But, remember that I am a computer engineer and I think in 0s and 1s.

I can see that, you haven't had a lucid thought since you last stroke!

Each time I see one of your threads, I read them. Many times it is the subject that catches my eye. But, most of the time it is because you seem to know each person that responds to you. Their medical conditions, their mental capability, their goals, and background. It has impressed me that you could be so well traveled and received that people would open up and tell you about their background. There was one time that you even posted as though you know me personally, and it has bothered me. I do not recall ever meeting you. Perhaps you travel in my circle? But, I am sure that I know everyone in my circle and none would be as abrasive as you are sometimes. Perhaps you attend my synagogue, but again I know all those people. Hummmm...... please tell me under what circumstances do you meet everyone?

TEA, you'll be up, nature calls.

Hanger 51 is where Harry came from, you didn't know?

Had no idea. Learn something new each day. I assume you are talking about Harry Henderson. I did notice that there was no claim that he does not exist.

Come to think about it, I have been complaining for 3 years of not being able to sleep at nights......... Solution is now at hand.

Next someone is going to say there is no Easter Bunny, or Jack O' Lantern. So very depressing!

And there are no aliens at hanger 51, I bet there are. Someone has to empty the trash.

Goodness, I am going to go cry in my tea (has to be tea because I do not drink beer)!!

And the father?

Had never heard the Masonic Order one and you mean there's no Santa, we'll tell the grandkids in a few years.

After 64 years to find out there is no Santa. My dreams are dashed, tears are flowing, and I think I will go to bed and not bother getting up tomorrow.....

Evidently your views do not coincide with the vast majority of Americans!

This is not news to me, I often go left when the pack goes right. At times it serves me well, for example I made a chunk of money on a stock that everyone else said was worthless. Sometimes it does not work out. I am okay with being an independent thinker.

And currently those caught in the middle are the immigrants!

Not the legal ones, only those that are breaking the law. Legal immigrants do make a significant contribution to the US and other countries where they live. The illegal ones are the concern and problems. In so many threads this has been hashed and bashed, discussed and reduced. No need for me to go back through why we just can not open our borders, why the security of our nation is at stake, why they become a burden (due to inability to legally work) on border states in particular.

Sounds to me like the Levinson matter was buried during the Bush administration and Obama was just informed of the matter by the press.

It would seem that he went missing during President Bush's watch, but for the past 6 years the current administration was aware of his circumstances.

I often think about POW, is the sitting President responsible for brining them all home before an e******n? So, if Obama has people that are "missing" should he have to make sure they are all safe at home before the the next e******n, because he can not run for another term? That would be ideal, but difficult to put into practice.

If only it were that simple. I know a lady with a 23-yr-old son who is schizophrenic. I have never met him, but she tells me that when he's taking his meds, he is one of the sweetest people anyone could ever know. If he fails to take his meds, though, he hears voices that tell him all kinds of bizarre stuff. Before he was medicated, she had purchased 6 cars for him over a period of about 3 years. He would hear voices telling him that there was a bomb in his car or that his car was going to attack him. So he attacked his car, ripping out the dashboards and the interiors and ripping out wires in the engine compartment. One time when she got gas, she went inside the station to buy them some snacks and drinks while he waited in the car. When she came back out, he had ripped out every wire in the engine compartment. If those voices told him to obtain a gun and shoot everybody he could, I imagine he would feel compelled to comply. Scarey! Especially so since he is only one of many thousands who suffer from similar illnesses. I don't have a clue as to what the right answer is. He has never harmed anyone or shown any aggression toward anyone, but still .... His doctor did tell her that his name was placed on the watch list so that he can't purchase a gun. But that's hardly adequate. Should people like him be institutionalized against their will?

I am sorry about your friend's son. I can imagine how she may feel. I know when either of my sons have a problem, it becomes my problem.

I still say a microchip is a solution. When a person is put on medications for issues like you described, then that information could be put on a chip and if they should go to buy a gun, the diagnosis would be readable by the merchant. It would also help paramedics, police, and in those cases where a body is found without identification.

I really think that this is the next step in socialized medicine. In 10 or 15 years, no one will question the need or procedure.

Since it has been brought up, there is an interesting difference in the oaths that enlisted people make vis-a-vis the oaths that officers make. Among other things, enlisteds swear to obey the president, whereas officers do not swear the same oath to the president.

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." (Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).

"I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God." Thank you, yes I know that there is a difference. But, I was enlisted and spoke only for the oath I took and therefore the one I quoted to whomever it was that said wh**ever to make me reply. But, thank you for the full versions of both.

I didn't find anything objectionable about his remarks, and he focused more on the need to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill than out of the hands of law-abiding citizens. I agree with that. I don't know how we do that, though, without infringing on people's rights to privacy about their mental health. To what degree, and by whom, must someone's mental condition be observed to warrant restricting their access to weapons?

I disagree strongly with bans on most weapons and magazines and such, but we really do need to do something to try to stop the trend of mass murders we see lately. I just don't know what.

When everyone receives their microchip, like we have for our pets, the doctors will just scan the information onto the chip. No questions asked. Simple. When the system matures, our banking will be on the same chip, and everyone will just need to be scanned at the stores when we buy or sell goods...... Sounds a lot like Revelations, doesn't it?

I would not worry about the mentally challenged, if we follow the same direction that other countries have with socialized medicine, they will be euthanized. Again, no problem.
