Even the far left leaning Guardian admits that defunding police departments is a thing…

“But for cities that did intentionally pass cuts, some of the changes were significant. Portland, Oregon, cut $15m from its budget and disbanded a gun violence reduction unit and t***sit team that had both long been accused of over-policing Black communities. San Francisco officials pledged to divest $120m from police over two years with plans to invest in health programs and workforce training. Minneapolis is using police cuts to launch a mental health team to respond to certain 911 calls.
“New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Baltimore and a dozen other cities have all also reduced police spending. And some of these cities are now demonstrating the impacts of their new budgets.
“How Austin is spending police funds
“Austin, Texas, has made some of the most dramatic changes in the country, directly cutting roughly $20m from the police department, and moving $80m from the agency by shifting certain services out of law enforcement. The city has gone from spending 40% of its $1.1bn general fund on police to now allocating about 26% to law enforcement.
“Public health and public safety are at the heart of this,” said Chris Harris, the criminal justice director at Texas Appleseed, a local not-for-profit. “When we take policing away, we are actually filling that void with alternatives that we know are going to help.”
The Austin Police Department had its budget cut by about one-third…”

That’s just one reason why the left’s “solutions” of defunding the police and letting criminals out without bail is so i***tic. But I don’t expect you to understand since your mind is made up that guns are the problem.

-No police departments have been defunded. That was a discussion point, but was never implemented.

-And, No eliminating bail has only been applied to those who can't pay it, since if they can't pay their bail, they probably don't have a job or they will lose their job if they are the soul provider for a minor, such as a single parent.

...and yet someone someone put up 25 million in bail for Sam Bankman...hmmm...

GOP Plans To Authorize Military Action Against Cartels Gaining Support

House Republicans’ plan to send the U.S. military after Mexican drug cartels is starting to gain congressional support, according to Blaze Media. Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) and Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) introduced a bill on Jan. 12 that would allow the U.S. to take military action against the drug cartels.

Crenshaw said the cartels are in a war with the U.S. and that they are poisoning more than 80,000 Americans with f******l every year.

“It’s time we directly target them (the cartels),” Crenshaw said in a statement. “My legislation will put us at war with the cartels by authorizing the use of military force against the cartels. We cannot allow heavily armed and deadly cartels to destabilize Mexico and import people and drugs into the United States. We must start treating them like ISIS – because that is who they are.”

Since the bill’s introduction, several House Republicans, including Reps. Jake Ellzey (R-TX), Beth Van Duyne (R-TX), and Jim Banks (R-IN.) have all signed on to co-sponsor the bill.

In a statement declaring his intent to support the bill, Banks said f******l traffickers k**led more Americans last year than the Vietcong did during the entire Vietnam War. Banks also criticized President Joe Biden’s handling of the border while adding that the president has completely ceded the control of U.S. territory on the border to “murderous gangs.”

Banks revealed that House Republicans need to work with the next president to use any means necessary, including mobilizing the military, to stop the Mexican cartels.

If signed into law, the bill will give Biden the authority to use military force against cartels that traffick, produce and distribute f******l. Cartels that use force against U.S. law enforcement and the military will also be targets of the legislation.

The legislation will be in effect for five years after it is signed into law, after which Congress will have to reauthorize it if needed.

It's a state law: are you familiar with state's rights? There are dry counties in Tennessee, but no one has challenged that as a violation as unconstitutional. When I got out of the Navy, the state of Michigan required me to register my firearms I returned home with from California, where I legally purchased them.

I honestly don't know if Conservatives can win without Trump or lose with him. Too many Trump loyalist will be upset if he doesn't get the nod. How they would RSVP is the question. If Ron moves into 1st place would Trump start a 3rd Party and guarantee a 2024 loss? My own simplistic thinking still believes Don & Ron need to bury their metaphorical hatchets, put their big boy pants on & team up. However, If the 81 million h**e Trump v**e were legitimate, which I don't believe for a minute they were, there are still millions who viscerally h**e him. Furthermore, if Ron can temper Trump for four years, come 2028 he might well rule the world. 😁
