Our doctor has not changed his rates in so long that I can not remember.... When we have a problem that needs like xrays, then he has us come into his office. He has a portable EKG, draws our blood himself, and he has a small lab where he still has an microscope. Of course he is always on top of our lists for remembering his birthdate, that of his late wife, and of course his sons. He is not only our doctor, but a friend. I think he delivered most of our family's children. He has never forgotten a name or condition. Just truly amazing!

And to get to your point, now that I have highlighted this remarkable man, I agree they should be highly paid and educated at the community's expense. Our doctor's son, he was given 2 scholarships, 4 years each full ride, from our Synagogue for his education. And when he graduated, we all went to see him receive the sheep skin!

That's phenomenal! I wish that we would pay for medical schooling for Doctors, who would move to and practice in, rural areas. I think payments to them should be higher than for those practicing in more metropolitan areas. Dialing back the clock on progress is not always a bad thing.

You are so right! We have moved into a time of conveyor belt health care. Otherwise known as Social Medicine. Most doctors do not want you to ask questions, and they only do the shortest of examinations. I am glad that we still have a country doctor who will actually make house calls. He is getting long in the tooth, but his son is now a doctor and plans to continue his father's practice as is even after his dad retires.

There is no doubt that ADD and ADHD are real medical conditions as delineated in the DSM V, however, there are specific criteria to be met and testing required to determine those criteria. A questionnaire and/or a 2 minute visit is not sufficient. A problem will always arise when "cookie cutter" medicine is applied. Careful evaluation should be standard for any diagnosis, but in this day and age of assembly line medicine, that isn't done. No one questions Doctors anymore unless at a malpractice trial. Doctors should ALWAYS be challenged, that is best for them, as well as the patient. Any Doctor who reacts badly to being challenged needs to hang up their stethoscope for another hobby.

Obama to use pen to change overtime pay
By Associated Press March 12, 2014 12:26 pm

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama will direct the Labor Department to strengthen overtime pay protections for millions of workers, a White House official said.

The directive is meant to help salaried workers, such as fast-food shift supervisors or convenience store managers, who may be expected to work more than 40 hours a week without receiving overtime pay. The proposed change is part of Obama's effort to focus on closing the gap between the wealthy and the poor, which also includes a call to raise the federal minimum wage from $7.25 per hour to $10.19.

The proposal is likely to be met with opposition from some Republicans and members of the business community who say the private sector should have flexibility in setting wages.

Under the new changes Obama is seeking, the Labor Department could raise the pay threshold for workers covered by overtime rules. Currently, salaried workers who make more than $455 per week are exempt from overtime.

California and New York have set higher thresholds of $640 and $600 a week respectively, the White House official said.

Obama is expected to announce the proposed regulation changes on Thursday. The announcement is part of his self-described "year of action," a series of economy-focused executive decisions that don't require congressional approval.

The White House official said Obama is authorized to take this action on this own under the Fair Labors Standards Act, which Congress passed in 1938. The proposed changes will be subject to public comment before the Labor Department can start implementing the final rule.

The move was first reported by The New York Times. The official confirmed the announcement on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to discuss the directive on the record before the president's announcement.

A: To prevent clients from being billed twice for essentially the same service.

Like the typical rabid republiCON asshole, you haven't even TRIED to refute any of the points I have made. You just say that i'm the one who's thinking is screwed up. In the words of the dumbest political figures in many a year: "Thanks, but no thanks".

I have just one thing to add, you are making the assertions and it is up to you to prove your information is correct. The defendants do not have to prove anything. Now having said that, you are correct to a point. There were micro habitats where the negro was indeed mistreated, but was not an across the board condition. There were some Negros that were chained, forced to work until death; but that was not the normal conditions. They were for the most part considered part of a plantation's wealth and therefore were maintained as a asset in the same way that other possessions were protected. It did happen that there were careless men who made bad business decisions and abused all their property, but those individuals did not maintain much wealth for long. Much like today, most lottery winners are broke within 10 years of winning because they make poor decisions.

Now moving away from the pity the Negro mentality, it is time to recognize that always looking behind you will cause you to stumble and fall. Put away the h**e, put away the "you owe me" attitude, and look where you can and should be going. With each new law or incentive that focus on what happened, it keeps the mindset in a defeatist and helpless despair. When we stop looking at limitations, the one can focus on potential. In my opinion, EOT laws have outlived any benefit they could offer. Special emphasis on skin tone is a disservice to men and women who can and do pull themselves from the bottom of the barrel. I think, and this is just my opinion, when we stop focusing on color then r****m will disappear!

1. No. Had I hired him I would have had to hire an account to make sure that I paid all the payroll taxes, FICA, State and federal unemployment, state and federal workers comp, etc. and a lawyer to make sure that I didn't violate one or more of dozens of state, federal and local labor laws. Then after all that the AFL-CIO would be there petitioning for a NLRB union e******n. Then the EEOC would be there to make sure that I hired someone from at least one minority group. Don't forget the EPA's coming by to make sure that I don't pull an "endangered" type of plant or disturb the habitat of a rare bug of some kind.
Beside all that, I like pulling my own weeds.

3. See answer no. 2.

After some reconsideration, cold iron's conclusion was incorrect. The girl did not become a Republican, notice that she is perfectly willing to "help the homeless" as long as she can do it with other peoples money, she is willing to have the homeless guy get a job, but she is not willing to put out the effort or get her own hands dirty to help him. Typical liberal philosophy, take from the productive and give it to the unproductive while keeping half to cover their expenses.

USE THE QUOTE REPLY BUTTON if you need directions on how to use it, let me know and I will walk you thorough the process. It helps in determining to whom you are addressing your comments, as most posts have more than one person making comments. Otherwise, you may never get a response and we do not want to deter you from making your point; and we do not want you to feel that you are being ignored.

I would address your comments, but you may not be talking to me.

You and your child has done remarkably well! You have reason for being proud.

I do think that ADDH is real, but for a different reason than many. I believe that some people are just born with an insatiable curiosity. They have a tendency to look for answers outside of the box. They have to touch, to feel, to take things apart to see how they work. I do not think that these individuals should be put on mind numbing medications; as you said there are more direct ways of getting them to settle down. When I was a kid, I took everything apart to see how it worked. I even built things out of parts; they did not always work as I intended, but Moma had a kitchen full of my "inventions."

Your daughter will do fine, she will take the courses she needs for graduation, why because you will not let her just skate by. You are, were, and always will be a strong influence on her life.

As for your ex-husband, well I am not qualified to say anything about that. But, I can wish you the best of luck!

When I was in school, you never heard of the word ADDH.I, for one, do not believes it exists. What you have is an antsy kid who wont sit in a chair long enough because he knows there are no consequences for him/ Back when I was in school, it was only the boys (thank God) that got the licks. And that, my friend, will calm anyone down. We all have this deal now that is not "politically correct"to spank your child. The bible says Spare the rod and spoil the child--or something to that effect. I never had to give spankings ever to my 5 yr. old. All we told her was,"You're gonna get a pow-pow, and she calmed down. And when she kept getting out of her car seat in the backseat, when her step father would pull off of the road, you should have seen how quickly she shimmied back into her car seat. Now she is a 21 yr old college student and has her boyfriend of 5 yrs living in the next room with Dad on the couch. He must of took it to heart because I always told him that "when a man lives with you, he pays the bills, hence her father gets $200.00/month in rent from him. But have 2 BA's one in Education and the other in History with a field minor in Historical Research. But in order for me to count 5 and 13, I have to use my fingers!Hannah, my daughter, writes mathematical sentences on the board! She wanted to be in Culinary school, and I knew it would be not to her liking when she had to take hotel/motel management and I was right. She is now taking anatomy, physics, Calculus and Chemistry and also Geology and she is making "A." Me, I though I could get out of chemistry by taking Geology, bad deal, my only sciences I passes what astronomy. But I am worried because she seems not to want to take her core courses, like Spanish (because she had a bad experience with it in high school, and she needs to start taking her government and Texas History that is a must for a two year Associates degree and that ain't nothing. She needs to go to school for at least 4 yrs. but I don't want to run her life, I only want to watch her grow! I was denied that when her father took her away from me at the age of 5. We just got back together again when she was 21. And I have to say, her father is a real slouch. I don't ever see how he raised such a great kid.She even built her own care from the ground up. she has a Cutlass Supreme 1974 and she wanted some headers so I am taking them over to her today, although she is in Eagle Pass with her boyfriend's family. You never get over the loss of a child. Now he is being oh so kind to me and his opinion and personality toward me is so, so nice. Well, my current boyfriend of 14 yrs. I can't get married or I will lose my widow's benefits, says he wants me back. All the times on my knees like a mad woman praying for revenge. Well, if it true, this would be the best revenge of all! Sorry for all of the talking out of the side of my head. Live Love from the great Republic of Texas!

I have seen all of those videos, read all the reports, and I have read documents that will not be released for 100 years. I can say with all certainty, if the towers were conspired or conceived by the government, President Bush was not party to it. No one could ever, regardless of acting sk**ls and President Bush could not keep a straight face when telling a story, be so visibly shaken and horrified as the president. So think what you want, h**e him because you have that need, scorn him and blame him for wh**ever will make you feel better. For some of us, we will continue to respect him and indeed he will be part of our prayers forever.

Sorry you had to experience all that. I am sure it was very traumatic. Nonetheless, many of us do read and do look at videos from 9/ll. There are so many things from the official government version that just do not pass the "smell" test.

To this day I have never heard a good explanation as to what really happened to WTC7, the third tower to collapse into its own footprint that day. WTC7 collapsed late in the afternoon of 9/11. You can go online and google videos of the collapse. In what alternate universe do buildings neatly collapse into their own footprint without a planned controlled demolition.

WTC7 was hit by..........nothing. Its the elephant in the room that neither Republican nor Democratic politicians in D.C. will talk about.
