As JoyV says (but no references) it is a complicated matter. I don't know what the average size of an amygdala is, but there is a study that shows London cab drivers have larger amygdalas for (nonpolitrical)reasons that Joy suggests above. Perhaps there is no data on this or Joy would have shown it. Normal size is not an insignificant detail. Early last century, young children were evaluated for thymus size, and physicians thought that kids had what they thought were over large thymuses until they realized that their original sample size that they based their original measurements on came from a population of a******l kids who had under-sized thymuses and the large thymuses were the normal ones.

So bunk, maybe you ought to check things out for yourself before acccepting or rejecting other opinions. We are here to determine t***h, right? I am confident your amygdala is just fine, I wouldn't worry about it.

byron, You gave it your best and we commend you for that. It is a terrible habit, and you gave it the old
oregon try, but you just could not do it. It got the best of you. You just had to agree with Natasha's invectives. It's ok. by, I am glad my post had something to do with your efforts. It was a good try, but you can see that you are hopeless in the grips of your habit--dare we say addiction. It is sad and we hope that you keep trying. Will power is more than words. It takes a real man to keep a commitment, but keep trying; that is how we progress.
Here is a suggestion: try a religious incantation. Try "amen and amen," an oft-used phrase here at OPP.

Kevyn (with a Y) has mastered the interesting psychological game called "Let's you and him fight." When played in real life, it is very pathological. On OPP, however, LYAHF keeps the echo chamber reverberating, cycling with the usual ad hominem remarks that often end with the very intellectual "amen and amen," giving, I presume, some religious benediction on the cycle (and thereby adding to its humor).
