In 2014 it seems we have the same mentally being stoked by a few extremely h**e filled political and talk radio host personalities. All this violent talk and impeach Obama nonsense leads me to believe that the GOP leadership is without the intellegence to engage in conversation about improving anything.

It has gone on for 6 years now and is getting worse. The strategy of, look at them, blame Obama and get rid of anyone wanting to be part of an intelligent conversation. What happend to the principal of helping the average American? It is simply missing from right wing media coverage.

Eric Cantor found out that you just can't win either way in this GOP environment. If I don't obstruct everything I am dead politically. If I do, there's somebody out of touch in the Tea Party who claims to be even more ridiculous. When does this get reeled in. Your future as a viable National Party is being led by bought and paid for nuts who are paid millions to keep things devided. TV and radio thrive and survive off of ignorance and misinformation. Ratings before the good of the country right? Thad In Mississippi is going down.
A man that has done more to keep jobs and bring federal dollars to that state than anyone is being thrown out with the bath water. It's a recipe for disaster and an absolute shame.

The GOP is operating off fear, blame and desperation.
In the 1950's and 60 's there were photos taken of... (show quote)

Actually we need to clean house on both sides but regarding this forum:

I keep score. I see far more filth and personal attacks here coming from the left than the right. To the observer, the left does not appear to be willing to engage in conversation when a righty has a valid point. If we were to take this forum as a cross section of both parties, the left looks much worse. I would think that anyone wanting to promote his/her political philosophy would want to present a civil and non-aggressive face rather than what is oresented here.

I realize that we have the low-roaders on both sides but the left....here....has more than its share. That is not the way to persuade me and I suspect the same for many others.

We are all products of our environment and our upbringing. I was taugh to give as well as to expect respect. Those who do not reciprocate lose my attention.

I have to admit, Tennessee is a great place to live and if you don't agree, a bit of old Jack will make you not even care. I can sympathize with you on Birmingham, it's kind of like the Cleveland of the south. I've not run into many that have squealed with excitement over vacation plans to either place. If I ever do, I'll send them to a good doctor for a diagnosis. You accept new Obamacare patients? Helpful information, because there's always a first time for everything.

I retired a while back so no Obamacare. (thank you Father). When I was practicing I was a bit of a rogue. I refused to enter into managed care. Refused more than 100 contracts. Refused to allow someone in an office tell me what I could or could not do for my patients. I was told by my peers that I would go bankrupt. I charged one fee regardless of how the patient payed. Insurance of no insurance. If someone couldn't afford it.....they were free. For as long as it took. Including chronic care pts. Someone somewhere had to put the pt. first.

Bankrupt? I had people coming from hundreds of miles to the point that I had to limit my in office time to 60 hours per week.

If I had to work with Obamacare today........I'd try out for the bears again. I don't know how you feel about it but I have studied it from the providet perspective. Nightmare. It takes care related decision making away from the Dr. and gives it to the goverment. To people who cannot even spell "illness". If you want to see the future of Obamacare....look at Today's VA situation. Where do think Obama and his advisors got the health care model to expand on?

I'm soooo glad I'm out. I just don't know how I could ever look someone in the eye and say "i'm sorry but I can't help you". That's where we are headed.

Back to football. I'm not saying the locals are a bit too fixated on college ball here.....but this is the only area I've heard of that lets church out early so everyone can watch Bama or Auburn. Traffic stops moving during the iron bowel. Kids can't add, subtract, divide, nor multiply.... and they have no knowledge of history or many other subjects being taught in school, etc, etc, but they are walking statistical libraries on bama football. Oh for the good days of "3 yards and a cloud of dust". That was Bears, Browns, and Packers ball.

I got a kick out of your speed evaluation. I suppose Rustbelt NFL football is still about the best. My brother lived outside of Chicago and loved them Bears. They sure have a lot of championships under their belt and, who didn't think "The Fridge" was fun to watch? Since Chicago and Green Bay is such an old rivalry, I had to notice. Not many people from Cleveland would say they're Browns/Steelers fans. I might be one of the few people left who would even admit to being a fan of the Browns.

I've been here in Tennessee for quite awhile, long before the Titans ever showed up here. College football reigns supreme down here, the NFL hasn't really grabbed the whole state yet. I have the fever already, could you tell?

I guess you can understand why tailgating at NFL games was a waste of good beer in Cleveland and, who could ever get an appetite watching the Browns play? Maybe some day, your Packers will play in Nashville and you can teach a fledgling how to get 'er done?

When I was a Bear walk-on I was an OT Right. I thought I had a shot. I was 6' 6 1/2" and my playing weight was 325. In 3 days I was down to 317. There was anothet guy trying out by the name of Butkis. During one workout I hit him. Hard. He went down about 6 yards from point of impact. He got up.....never even stretched any kink out.....walked past me and as he passed he said "good hit". I thought...hmmm.....he should have at least stayed down for a few seconds. Most would have stayed down for the long count. Maybe this isn't going to work out like I had figured.

He went on to some degree of sucess becoming what many believe to be the best LB who ever played.

I went home. I lasted 3 days. When I was cut, coach said "if you ever find legs...try us again". Coach told me that most plays for an OT require a split second read. He said 'son, you're using an egg timer".

Well.....I was a Bear fan prior to that but ever since I have become even more staunch in my support as I fantasize that at one time "I had a shot". I delude myself into thinking the Bears are "my team" as if I were one if them.

If the t***h be known....my shot was as realistic as me actually getting out of the drivers seat in a '65 Corvette.

(I was stuck in one for nearly 4 hours once (it took that long to extricate me without breaking up the dashboard.)

I ended up pulling myself out backwards on my hands. A guy across the street watched and later told me I looked like a walrus coming out that way. Go figure.

Yeah, the Browns are a bit underwhelming...but they still play "black and blue" ball if you know what I mean. I'd follow them a whole lot sooner than Atlanta. Every time a Bears or Packer game is scheduled....I get Atlanta. Death threats to the cable provider and ESPN are a waste ofb time. If it wern't so far to drive I go to a game up there once in a blue moon.

By the way, you say you have issues?

You have Nashville, Jack Daniels, and Opry Mills.

I have.....well Nashville isn't that far away

I sympathize. I was born/raised in Illinois. Then moved to Wisconsin and practiced there for years. The Bears fan thing came from childhood. I tried out for the in '65. Coach said if I was any slower I'd be a photograph. In WI I was an outcast being a Bears fan. I had a bad experience with a Packer team member and mentioned it to some people. They started talking about the Packers a lot and in time I started watching their progress. I had season tickets for the Bears and went to the Bears-Packers game in Green Bay. I enjoyed the play on both sides so much that I slowly became a Packers fan.

Man, you talk about tailgate parties? Until you have gone to a Bear'Packers tailgate you just haven't seen the full extent of one.

Learn to read and while you are at it learn verb tenses. I'm retired.

You are of the type that created obstacles we fought to overcome because you don't engage your mind before your mouth.

You really have no clue. It took countless meetings with politicians just to work at erasing the ignorant profile your type created by sounding like a crying nut case. I've had senators and representatives alike ask me if the average disabled person actually felt as you apparently do. The loud mouth and offensive posturing helps put a false picture of the disabled in the minds of those we need to work WITH us.

You and you ignorance are part of the problem we saw daily. If you can't learn and grow......and if you really care about those who live with disability....then at least SHUT UP!

You notice not I nor many others jumped on the dutchman for his comment. We get it.

By the way moron........if you did have a clue you would know that making a federal level politician POd is NOT how it's done.

If it were left up to you, you would have the work of many of us destroyed.

Now cut your loss and shut up.

I didn't say I found it to be funny at all and I agree, although you apparently assume....and didn't ask.....that it is poor taste.

I worked very hard to help write some of the law that benefits those with disabilities and I'm telling you from a position of knowledge as well as personal experience that those who take such offense....and have to openly talk about it make it more difficult to change the system in favor of the disabled.

I am a certified ADA technical assistance provider and have been in the trenches on behalf of the disabled community.

To be blunt: if one cannot develop a thick skin and consider comments from some uninformed jokster, they are going to be miserable for a long time.

What I said originally was that the author of that comment meant no harm.

Next time ask my opinion before you pop off.

Why do you think jokes that involve the handicapped are funny? As some on who is handicapped I find them in poor taste and unless you are handicapped yourself you do not have the right to make fun of people who are. Tel you try to walk a mile in my shoes or someone who is handicapped you have no idea what it is to be handicapped.

I have a disability and I've worked as a disability consultant and an ADA advocate, and I took no offense.

It was all about the left's viewpoint, not the disability. I have worked with many people who have a "hair trigger" about these matters. I have found that such a hair trigger is counter productive and actually can lend the "handicapped" community a poor and unearned reputation.

I know how you feel. I used to feel the same at first. What I have learned is that first we need to look at the intent behind the commentary.

Any number of people or things could have been the brunt of the joke.

JimMe, I appreciate your comment.

I try very hard to be courteous and respectful with my comments, and I limit my commentary so as to not take up too much time and space from others who have more to contribute.

The problem I'm having here is that some participants make such outrageous statements and rather than debate...they prefer to attack, slander, and resort to filth.

I usually don't participate in online forums but this one has several good minds in discussion. I learn much from honest debate.

What bothers me is that some commentary is so obviously wrong that whoever writes it knows before hand that we will see through the bull....so they must either believe what they say....and in many cases what they say is so blatantly ridiculous that I can't believe they believe it.....or else they must think we are incredibly stupid.

If the former is the case....how do they come to believe what they say what with all the media we have at our fingertips. If the latter is the case....why would they even want to discuss anything with anyone as stupid as they must think we are?

It puzzles me. There is t***h on either side of most issues but some of the commentary I read here is almost laughable.....if it were not so sad.

Who was it on this forum who not long ago screamed foul because someone mentioned Iraq and WMDs in the same sentence?

As I remember, he went on a rant about how Bush had lied about those WMDs, used that lie to attack Iraq. Then he extolled Obama's virtues because he got us out of that lie.

Someone told him about the news articles of that time period discussing what type and how much was found.....but of course this nimrod said it was all lies.

Nothing new here, and I believe this is about 2 years old.

Until enough people in DC "man up", it won't matter what information pops up or how much Trump offers.

We have a congress that cares zip for the law and as long as they can posture while looking the other way....they will.

I'm just about to the point where I may v**e for people I've never heard of. I seriously doubt that we could be any worse off and might get lucky. There is so much garbage going on that since the right won''t go past accusations and rhetoric....I hold them equally responsible.
