Good we can agree to disagree but it doesn’t make one of us right and the other wrong,it makes us two people right who discuss and listened to each other’s views with differences of opinion that aren’t able to reach consensus. A higher power will decide.

The ignoring the words "inalienable rights" and "shall not be infringed" indicate that You do not support the 2nd amendment.

The fallacy of your position is that rather than holding people responsible for the damage that abusing their inalienable rights by actively planning or actually doing harm to someone else, you want to restrict those same rights, on all people, because of what a few people may, or, may not do. That approach is the antithesis of inalienable rights.

So why have we been able to restrict machine guns, require education and licensing to carry guns. Also this statement is tied to maintaining an armed m*****a . We now have an Army , Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and Space Force , National Guard = armed m*****a to protect us from outside forces. The three independent branches of Govt protect our Democracy from collusion. Your point that we need guns to protect us from our own Govt. therefore doesn’t make sense to me. Today determining the type of gun one can carry or own or register or be licensed for makes sense and is not any infringement. If AR 15’s had a practical use other than mass murders or masculinity to own I would agree with you. I guess we agree to disagree and will see how, if laws change and how Supreme Court rules. I believe we have the right and duty to v**e but we’ve set an age and registration requirement on that right as well. How are guns laws any different?

Sounds like a plausible story. One thing is clear: A****a has been proven not to have actively planned, and participated in J** 6 Capital protests. Acts of violence by any group exceeds right to assemble or free speech rights and should result in arrest and convictions. Your example is a good one highlighting violence a group of bad eggs can to to themselves and others based on signs, triggers inferring difference from their belief. We need a society with more tolerance and respect for basic principles of democracy, individual and property. We need the ability to freely voice our opinions and discuss issues or positions from all sides in a civil manner which gives all of us the opportunity to understand and feel more comfortable in our position of support or position to disagree.

Regarding campaign contributions the Supreme Court Ruling allowing PAC’s to fund parties or candidates without limits or discloses has made it clear we will never have another regular Sam or Susan or Abe Lincoln. Any candidate will be influenced by direct contributors or PAC’s and basically “buy” the e******n. We need to get big money out of politics. I was a purchasing agent and the best thing our company did was have a policy of “ no gifts or gratuities”. Took away view of or actual fact of bias when selecting suppliers. I moved to a company that didn’t have that process and coats ,coolers, dinners, tickets etc. Was the norm from any salesman, which clearly brought bias or look of bias to the forefront of decisions. Your Scalise contribution example appears to be direct contribution only and not via PAC’s and other allowable sources. I recently read an article of the Millions of dollars the NRA has provided, candidates, lobbyist, & PAC’s to promote their biased interests. Do you think that has any influence on the decisions made or bought e******ns? -I do.

I support the 2 nd amendment, but disagree it’s a blank check to own & use any type of gun you want. We have grown our capabilities from single shot mussel loaders and flintlocks to 10 to 50 shot quickly switchable magazines that have no to minimal practical use. We have an armed m*****a to protect our country from the outside(British when constitution was written), we have democracy that we must fight for to protect us from within USA. Talks of uprising, ceding from the union are beyond constitutional rights given. I believe your view of 2nd amendment rights is overstated. With any rights we have the need to controls to protect these rights from those that exceed those rights. Your free speech comment is an example- name calling, lying, defamation exceed rights of free speech as do mass shooting therefore Associations that monitor media, lawyers, internet, guns etc. if they don’t self police themselves they come under govt. scrutiny and action is required to stop the excesses. This is not taking away rights but protecting those rights from people who abuse or radically skew what the rights mean to justify their own excessive actions. You make some good points but I feel your interpretation of 2nd amendment right is different than mine and I guess that’s what the Supreme Court will interpret as these issues , new laws get raised to them.

Sorry, I’m talking recent history, like the last ten-twenty years. Both parties have changed significantly in recent history. Partisan gridlock: Obama justice nominee- can’t approve in e******n year, then just before Trump left office one pushed through in six-eight weeks. Mitch M chairman of house did not allow many if any of the 100’s of Democratic bills to the floor for v**e.
Now filibuster in Senate stops democratic bills. We are where we are today due to this Republican caused gridlocked process. For past 14 years. Democrats have not been able to implement much needed changes outlined in their platform that would help majority of citizens when Democratic President in office. Minority rule is where we are.

Capt Jack, my memory says that Mr Trumps own head of 2020 e******n security stated with the work they had done 2020 was one of the secures e******ns in history(just before Mr. Trump fired him). This is supported by audits from all swing states , numerous court cases, & no one including Rudi, Mr. Trump, & Mike Lindel have provided any significant evidence to support fraud or significant illegal v**es counted that would have impacted the 2020 outcome. In fact Biden won by huge amount of popular v**es, which Trump lost to Hillary in 2016, and Biden won a significant amount of e*******l v**es in 2020 similar to what Trump called “a landslide win” in 2016( while still claiming fraud in 2016 but since he won did not pursue action to push it or significantly improve it during his four years in office). Egotistic conspiracy theory to try to hold on to office( first President in USA history not to accept e******n loss. Recent legislation by states to hire partisan e*****rs, v**e counter, etc. And even give Secretary of States power to override v**e at their discretion makes it a little scarier. I feel e******ns are secure and that v****g process catches any significant v****g issues. You will always have some one offs, but process is solid.

Good thing is that jobs are now readily available for those that seek them. Wages while not keeping up with inflation yet are higher than ever. Many Employers are also looking at improving medical benefits, paid leave, flexible work schedules and work from home to attract & retain employees. Unions to protect workers rights are making a much needed resurgence. Inflation is requiring some retirees to go back to work, some low wages are forcing others to work multiple jobs. The fact that jobs are available for these people is key! Who v**ed down bills to stop price gouging-filibuster controlled Senate, also a number of bills to help people that won’t pass due to Senate blockage. Sure one or two Democrats are v****g against many helpful bills but each time only one or two Republicans Senators v**e for. This action has stopped the political process in its tracks and deafened the voice of a majority of the people.

Sorry but the only partisan part of stopping mass shootings is that Republican Senators whose campaigns are significant funded by the NRA will not v**e for gun control measures. This is your opinion which you are fully entitled to. This is a stop mass shooting issue that action to fix is desired by over 75% of citizens, Senators representing this huge majority of citizens should v**e accordingly to take effective swift corrective action.

Blade Runner, I read and liked your reply & a chance to continue to discuss this. Your comment that only military have access to assault weapons, made me rethink my statement, AR15 type repeat weapons-that are current choice of most mass k**lers, ghost guns, bump stock, large capacity magazines are what should be banned. While training is available, I feel like a car, when a gun is purchased it would make sense to require training. Licensing you indicate is an infringement on 2nd amendment rights- many states require training and licensing “to legally carry”. This does not appear to be an infringement on 2nd amendment and I feel should be extended to all guns. I totally agree that a healthy society will help but don’t feel it’s only one of many steps that needs to be taken to reduce mass shooting , not the only one. I would like to hear from you on what steps you feel is needed to get us to “ healthy society” and how long it would take to get us there. Regarding the USA having less & homocides & deaths per 100K pop. than some other countries-I strongly feel USA numbers for mass shootings are way to high( I believe the families & friends & communities that have been affected would agree). The USA total gun death numbers I’ve seen show USA WW in middle, if you consider only developed countries USA is #1 in gun deaths. I feel the total USA gun deaths are unacceptable, heading in the wrong direction with NO EFFECTIVE actions being taken in the past 20 years. Comprehensive steps need to be taken that demonstrate effective control until we get to- “ Healthy Society”. Thanks for your comments, I see areas where we agree.

We have laws that stop citizens from having military type weapons, hand grenades, cannons, machine guns, etc. Regulating these have not been an issue. Banning assault weapons sales, licensing guns ,prior to ownership, background checks and gun training, 21 year age to buy guns, red f**g laws, will not affect anyone’s 2nd amendment rights, but will help significantly reduce “mass murders”. People’s ability to respect others and their opinions without name calling, ability to discuss issues seeking consensus or even agreement not to agree vs non crossable partisan lines in the sand as we seem to have today, will allow us to have temperament to reach solutions to improve bad situations. Sorry for long winded opinion.

Inflation is not under control of a Presidents decisions, Example:gas prices are based on WW supply demand of crude oil. To get arms Arab countries were requested by Trump to reduce oil output just prior to p******c, then demand reduced due to p******c. Arab counties reduced oil output as requested and are yet to increase to previous level, along with Ukraine war, and perceived or actual price gouging by oil companies(note, bill to investigate & stop price gouging was stopped by Republican Senate NO v**e) gas prices have risen. Regarding your question on J** 6: It is the first time in the history of the US that a President has challenged v**e outcome, put plans in place to change popular and e*******l college results by citizens and was like a gas to a fire encouraging citizens, VP, and swing states to change the results. This has also made v**er faith decline, helped generate fear, scepticism in e******ns J** 6 assault on capital during e*******l college v**e and has the potential of destroying our democracy. We can’t lose sight of those struggling to get through this inflation, but must continue to defend democracy as well. Everyone should care. Those are my comments/thoughts to your great question .

The Constitution was written when USA was mostly a voluntary M*****a using musselloader type weapons or pistols. USA now has full time Army(M*****a) and repeating rifles with +10 round quickly replaceable clips. Mass shooting were near impossible by one person as shooter would be overcome police or others before he could reload. I hunt, have six guns I use for hunting none have clips greater than ten nor do I need one. It would be impossible for me to be a mass shooter- guns I have wouldn’t allow it. As I understand it a law ban assault rifles rifles would not affect me a legal gun holder. To hunt I had to take gun safety course - maybe this should be a requirement for buying a gun. I drive a car, have to pass a test, get a license and license my serialised vehicle. Why don’t we require same for guns. This is not taking away rights or conventional guns, but could greatly reduce “ mass shooting”. In our state multiple DUI offenses result in confiscation of your vehicle. Raising age to 21 could help minimize random actions by unstable youths. These are specific actions - I’ve yet to hear valid solutions from pro gun activist that have worked so far. No action has been norm since Sandy Hook. Please tell me actions that will solution mass shooting in schools, public places without enacting martial law type state. Note: better security in schools will help but not stop majority of mass shootings.
