My, you are lucky. The Sgt. Major and I visited the North Coast of Minnesota a couple of years ago. We traveled from Duluth to Grand Portage, and also up to near Ely or Eli, I can't remember. Absolutely gorgeous country! I saw my first wolf in the wild, including a trip to Yellowstone, & possibly a moose...although I did see a moose in Yellowstone on a previous vacation years earlier. Loved the lighthouses along the shores of Lake Superior.

It snowed in Duluth upon our arrival at the Black Bear (?) casino in the middle of May. I thought I was there for a summer vacation. It was in the upper 30s at night, as I remember, but the days were wonderful. I ate my first walleye at the Lemon Wolf Cafe in some small port town along the coast. Drank a Moose Drool beer just for the experience of drinking a "Moose Drool" beer.

Had a great time in NE Minnesota. I envy you...except I fear the winters must be tough.

I forget this thread is about PC trouble.

Well, they did, internet research confirms it. In fact, it was Newt Gingrich who suggested a remarkable similarity to HillaryCare, with an indivdual mandate. It was also backed by the Heritage Foundation.

I am not to well informed on the history of the health care history , but if what you say is correct why did the republicans v**e against it as it also was very similar to the health care system put in place by then Governor Romney, if the republicans had similar plans then why fight it so hard

Yes we like to fish also here in Northern Minnesota although she isn't so fond of ice fishing (she doesn't trust the ice)

Considering the increased standard of living for all Americans since 1980, I don't know how you came to this conclusion.

The standard of living hasn't improved other than the top 15 percent all the rest have decline, in both purchasing power and wages and we are working longer hours to make less , where do you get your facts

So you're saying let the law be finalized, then try to repeal?

Wouldn't you lefties love that, knowing its harder to accomplish....

How about we find something we all agree with then pass it...allow me to t***slate that for "vet" & "mudInyourface", that is called compromising.

Compromise a word the tea party should study a bit more , it doesn't mean for the other side (us liberals) to capitulate

It's not a new world order - it is the same old liberal policies moving us along the scale towards socialism - with more and more government control by more and more numberous and powerful members of the 4th Branch of government - bureaucrats.

As these folks make it more and more difficult to economically produce in America, while structuring everyting from the tax code to regulations of virtually every aspect of production to further their power at the expense of the producers, the only intelligent response by business is to offshore.

The left isn't really bothered by offshoring - while they use it politically to complain, they offer the solution as giving them more power - until ultimately the only option left will be full out socialism and its resultant move from sharing the wealth to sharing the poverty.

One major part of our problems is the implementation of the Reagan Era supply side economic theory which has failed miserably and another major portion is both sides want to just tear then other side down and both sides forget governance is their job not a sideline

I hope the Republicans read this article..it is the only thing left to do. DEFUND OBOMACARE! They are now in control of this horrible law and should do what the majority of Americans want.

not withstanding the demographic problems the conservative right is facing , what are they going to replace Obamacare with , because the health care system is a mess , if you can't replace it with something better isn't it better to fix after implementation --remember don't rail against the dark light a candle

I have a refurbished HP/Compaq store demonstration model desktop PC running Windows 7. Ever so often I have trouble turning the machine on or waking it up from sleep mode because it tries to boot from something other than the hard drive. It does this even when I have nothing in the CD drive and nothing plugged into the USB ports. And no matter how many times I do F9 and tell it to boot from the hard drive the machine eventually overrides my settings and gives me an input not supported error message. Does anybody know what this thing is doing and how I can fix it permanently?

The plug from the hard drive may be a little loose (but that would be to simple) the other is a soft ware glitch or problem with mother board --with the soft ware you could do a reload , but it is best to take it o a technician and have it checked out

I simply haven’t gotten around to reading the rest of the GOP’s platforms which are posted on this website. I have debilitating arthritis that makes typing difficult at times, so what of it?

By present day criteria Lincoln was a RINO how sublimely ironic , I wasn't going to say anything about this because Oldroy would get pleasure from it but as one of his cohorts said I ingested to much Agent Orange in Vietnam and he is right I did and have been fighting it for the last 15 years , you gives these people facts and they denigrate it as to be expected as there is no real counter to your facts except derision and sarcasm not a good substitute for civil dialogue

I took German from grades 8 through my high school graduation. But I had bad teachers the whole time. The first was a Hungarian (who served in the Wehrmacht on the Russian front) D. Lit. We took the whole school year to cover the first 69 pages of the textbook. The next teacher (U.S. Army brat) covered everything too fast for us to really learn it trying to get us caught up. We had just finished the 2nd textbook at the mid-point of my 11th grade year (the two books should have taken just 3 years to complete) when she left to take a job in another state. The last teacher was a German immigrant by way of Ohio. The only thing we were graded on for the last year and a half was a weekly composition. I wish now I had spent the time studying something else.

My college degree is in biology, but I took 40 credit hours in history. I have studied history on my own for as long as I have been able to read.
