She wants a degree in computers..... I got my degree in computers at VA Tech.... Who knows if that is where she winds up, this is just her first letter accepting her.... She did apply to UVA but we have not heard from them. And we do have a few months to decide. So, don't give up yet.

Anyway, I will pass on to Duckie your congrats.

I see Mommy's fine hand influencing the Tech choice. :hunf:

UVA is historically slow on acceptance letters.

Did you know that the "know it all syndrome" is hereditary?

We get it from our kids!

I knew I was in trouble years ago when my son, a 12 y.o at the time, heard me talking to staff about a computer problem we were experiencing. He came to my office and said he knew what was wrong. I asked. He spoke gibberish. I always encouraged him to be honest and not exaggerate and the system was down so what the heck. I told him to see if he could figure it out.

It took him maybe 30 minutes. A computer tech would have taken 2 days and cost a bunch. He cost me a pizza and pitcher of root beer for him and his buddy.

I figured I had fathered the utmost high almighty grand invincible stomper of computer geniuses. I could see him running his own business, flying all over the world solving huge governmental and business computer problems that no one else could solve. That was long ago.

He's a chef.

A much wiser career. I think it's good that, with your visions of his future, you did not prevent him from his own choice. Hooray for you! :D :D :D

I look at it this way.... if things go bad....and they will, who would you rather have in a survival group.... one who can use a keyboard or someone that is a chef? Now the computer skills are wonderful, and in particular if the person is a computer engineer because that is more than coding. But, everyone eats and a good chef is worth their weight in gold. A computer engineer who is a chef...best of both worlds. And... is he happy being a chef? If so...then he will always be a success.

No one is buying your stuff. You want ProgenyB to marry the young lady so you do not have to toss him aside to make room for her. You probably did magic potions to take him to the happy place.  :| ;)

I am not leaving. Sorry. Thought my thread would be clear. I was merely admitting I was JDunneNow, Dunne here; an acknowledgment.
