"We just have to make sure that our elections are fair and as free of fraud as possible. That doesn’t seem like an unreasonable desire, but it certainly riles up the Democrats. Why might that be?"

It is common knowledge that a surpressed voter turnout benifits republicans and a large voter turnout benifits democrats. Democrats want every person eligible to vote to be able to do so easily, republicans want to make it as difficult as possible. Making election days a federal holiday and insisting employers allow paid time off for voting would be a good place to start. Early voting, absentee voting and automatic registration for citizens would all allow more eligible citizens to participate. Unfortunatly republicans want to prevent turnout so these things will not happen in the near future. Voter fraud is nearly non existant and is a felony in most cases. Just like gun laws the first step is to enforce the laws on the book not create new ones.

Because Dems don't want to do the work necessary to make minorities "voter legal". It's a lot of work to get a 100 year old man voter ready, who has no birth certificate. All of the other issues mentioned as "suppressing votes", just requires work - IF - those folk are, in fact, entitled to vote anyway.

That is because they will never win without lies, deception, fraud
and bribery.

If Republicans wanted fair elections, then they would not gerrymander.

It's not the republicans that are standing in the way of fair elections. It's the dummycrats in all (57 states Ha Ha Ha ha Ha Ha ). Oh, I am so sorry, it's there boy the black ejaculate conception that could not count.

Since when does the Constitution require a citizen to have an ID, drivers license or passport? That document does provide for citizens to vote. You do believe in the Constitution don't you?
