Annemarie your 401k was hit several times before Mr Cruz came along. Here's a bit of advice for you, do not type unless you know what you are typing about.

I am going to have to quit this site if people do not debate civilly There is always room for disagreement but no need to be disagreeable in the process.

Fox is head and shoulders above the others in ratings--can you explain that, if they're not a legitimate News source? People who really want the facts aren't going to ABC,NBC,CBS OR CABLE.

You show no evidence to support your claim. An opinion is not a statistic.
Even if their ratings are high I would suggest that is more because people just love to watch a good fight and there is always some cantankerous coot leaving spittle on the microphone to provide a short burst of entertainment. I occasionally watch Fox just to see if there are any signs of a change (elevation) in temperament but it's difficult not to notice the preponderance of
well..angry white people. Hardly anybody smiles and any time the President or the "this administration" is mentioned which is to say roughly every third sentence it is always framed in the most negative light. I have never, ever heard Fox report anything positive about about the first family. You get the impression they even hate his toothbrush. I recall the interview of the President by Brett Baier. Baier came across as personally angry, almost like he was about to lunge out of his chair at Obama. I am all for vigorous confrontation of public figures but a professional journalist keeps his personal inclinations in check. Fox is an entertainment and reality channel and in the interests of truth in advertising they should present themselves as such.
Pandering to the baying hounds on either side of the political divide while it may get ratings does not qualify you to be a legitimate news show.
A change of name to "Fox Opinions" would be closer to reality.

Or faux infotainment would aptly describe the incoherent rantings of the talking heads

Most of the Main Street Media is Liberal but one lousy non-liberal (not yet) station like Fox is held in total disdain. As a Conservative, I often fault Fox but Liberals never fault their own, no matter what. Some of what goes down at MSNBC in particular, and sometimes CNN, boggles the mind, but Liberals lap it up like the Kool Aid it often is.

As regards Anne Marie comments, "I'm so sick of my 401K taking hits because of dipshits like Cruz suggesting the US is not going to pay the bills it has ALREADY rung up. I don't think the baggers understand that this is NOT about stopping spending, it is being a deadbeat and not paying the bill for money we have already spent. Threaten not to pay your bills, and pretty soon no one wants to lend you money, or wants higher interest to lend you money. Is threatening to shut down the government going to be standard operating procedure anytime things don't go 100% your way? This is like negotiating with terrorists."

The "shutdown" is not a shutdown but a slow down to the 64 cents on the dollar expenditure that government receives each month. Bills would still be paid but unnecessary expenses would be prioritized and cut. As to being deadbeats, your type are the true deadbeats because you want monies to be spent on your behalf as long as future generations will be forced to pay your excessive bar tabs. Deadbeats always want free drinks.
As regards Anne Marie comments, "I'm so sick ... (show quote)

Just whom are you putting down, with that 'deadbeat' title?

It that were true, then Obama would be guilty of treason for delaying the employer mandate.

The oath taken by congress is as follows;

I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

Sorry it doesn't say anything about upholding the law of the land and laws can be changed they do it all the time. Laws can even be ignored such was the case involving illegal immigrants and Obama not enforcing that law. In fact he and holder even sued the state of Arizona for upholding the laws of our country regarding immigration.

Absolutely not. The point was that when you're spending $18B every 12 hours on everything from handouts to people making 4 times the poverty level, to corporate welfare, to studies on the mating habits of bugs, to bridges to nowhere, to tattoos for food stamp recipients, to subsidies for millionaires for solar panels, to non-viable electric cars, and on and on there are plenty of places where spending cuts can, should and must be made.
